“La Shamiana Dharamshala – Inn for Spiritual Travelers” is the residential quarters in Anand Ashram Ubud.
Ashram provides a peaceful environment and simplicity that is conducive for Self-Discovery and Empowerment, with daily activities of Meditation and Yoga. It's perfect place for guests who genuinely seek a spiritual life or simply want to have a personal retreat and quiet time for themselves.
As such, Ashram may not be a suitable place for those looking for accommodation alone.
The minimum age to stay in the ashram is 12 years old. We regret that at present we do not have special facilities for the disable or sick persons. We, therefore, expect all visitors to be in fit condition, physically, as well as mentally/emotionally.
Located 3 km from Ubud Center, it will take 45 minutes by walking and less than 5 minutes by scooter, therefore it's highly suggested to rent a scooter or use taxi.
All guests are free to use the Meditation facility and Chapel of Mother Goddess for personal spiritual practices, use of the Healing Pool, garden area, and parking for motorbike but please adhere to the timing of public usage. Kitchen is opened for staff only.
The room has 2 beds. If you are traveling alone then you will occupy the room for yourself.
The rooms are nice, and the Ashram is beautiful and offers lovely meditation three times daily. The hosts are welcoming, attentive and make the most delicious food upon request. Everything was perfect and clean, with very friendly staff, and a peaceful environment. Recommended if you want to stay put and enjoy some peace, for Ubud tourism it might be better to stay more central. But with a scooter the odd trip to town is easy (too far and uphill for bicycling). I would always like to visit again for a more spiritual break.
Great place to stay, lovely hosts and a chance to really unwind & meditate
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
i feel so comfortable and peaceful in Anand Ashram, we chanting and meditate in the early morning, they even provide free yoga and meditation for us. people there are so beautiful, it's a very good place to stay with yourself and start the journey to go into the inner space in your heart. any way i like here and will choose here again.
I had the fortune of finding out about Anand thru other guests at another home stay I was at. Towards the end of a month long stay in Bali i needed a retreat and I can truly say that without the days I spent here my journey would have not been complete. They offer 3 sittings a day for meditation and morning yoga which is just the perfect pace for relaxation and contemplation. All the guests were wonderful and the hosts are so gracious, kind and humble. The food is amazing, they cater to any food needs you have within a vegetarian diet, even made banana fritters with rice flour that were amazing!!! Absolutely take a few days break and gather yourself here!!! It was a saving grace for me without a doubt, I will be back and for a much longer time next visit to Bali!!! Brianna
Anand Ashram was just beautiful with cool gardens and plenty of relaxing meditation spaces. Perfect for those wanting to see the sights but also have time to meditate, sleep, and participate in Ashram life. Surrounded by rice fields the night air is filled with cicadas, frogs and fireflys which you can enjoy from your very comfortable room. It is a nice distance from the madness of UBud but you will want a scooter as the walk is very long. The staff were very helpful and friendly, lending a hand with booking scooters and anything else we had questions about. They are able to organise airport transfers also. We enjoyed ourselves so much we've been talking about how soon it will be before we can go back for a longer stay!
We are a young couple and spent 3 nights at Anand Ashram , this was the right amount of time for us as we are fairly new to yoga & meditation and got just what we wanted out of our stay whilst learning, Peace and quiet away from the scooters and tourist area, relaxing healing pool and friendly hosts of the Ashram.
The only negatives we felt were a slight non communication with regards to how we had food and only found out on our 2nd day that you can pre order it the day before, although we mainly eat from a tasty cheap local Warung at the end of the road. We didn't feel 100% welcome at Anand Ashram for various reasons but we did enjoy our stay and would revisit, it is defiantly worth a visit for peace and quiet and a chance to recharge, meditate and yoga.
One of the locals that lived there (who also cooked for us) was very kind to offer us a lift with him to the supermarket, where we got breakfast essentials.
All in all thank you.
Anand Ashram was very peaceful very and very accessible to town, just ride your motor bike 3km down the street and your in the middle if the busiest part of Ubud. They even coordinated for my Motorbike rental to be dropped off the same day I requested it. The staff was friendly/accommodating and I met some amazing people that I will never forget. I definitely would recommend this place for someone that is looking for a peaceful retreat to recharge their spirit. I will be back for sure.
greate place to stay in ubud! clean rooms and a big garden.
There you get the best breakfast in bali!
Herny was extremely helpful with all of our questions.
