An 1860 Terrace sympathetically renovated to retain it's period charm. Fitted with modern bathrooms, a country style kitchen, separate living and dining rooms, this is a property that will meet the expectations of people looking for an upmarket experience of Melbourne in a friendly 'at home' environment.
You will have full access to all the facilities in the house. This is my private home, and although I am generally able to vacate when people want to take both rooms, there are times when I may need to stay in my studio at the rear of the courtyard. In these instances I will need to share the kitchen with you, which has not proved to be an issue for previous guests. If you are specifically looking for a property where the host is not present, please enquire as to whether I can accommodate your requirements.
There are two bedrooms available on the second story. One large room with Queen Bed and heaps of wardrobe space and a smaller room fitted with two single beds and cupboard storage. They are available separately or together for a visiting family or friends. There are two bathrooms along the hallway .
The kitchen is fully available however with so many great cafes around you'll probably decide to go out for most meals. If you would like to entertain friends, please ask me about this prior to booking. I will have a stock of the basics for brecky. Tea, coffee and some cereal if required.
One car parking permit is also available ($50 refundable deposit applies). As my rooms are also listed separately on airbnb , the precious parking permit goes to 'first in best dressed'. Please enquire as to availability on booking.
Fitzroy is Melbourne's equivalent of Soho in London and New York, the Left Bank in Paris or Greenwich Village. Here you will find a profusion of restaurants of every nationality, wine bars, clubs and venues famous for music from all over the world. I can point you to my favorites, and to others as well.
Public transport via tram is about a minutes walk out the front door and it's pretty easy to get anywhere you'd like without making too many route changes. I'll have some tram route maps available for you and can advise best ways to get where you want to go. Walking to the city and the iconic MCG is easy and picturesque.
Children are welcome at Chunky House provided they aren't encouraged to slide down the banister.
Entire house on basis described above.
Interaction with Guests
As guests require or wish.
Cafes, restaurants, shopping, wonderful architecture, parks and of course the 'locals'. Proximity to CBD, MCG, Museum and numerous galleries.
Fantastic tram system a 2 minute walk from my front door. Star Shuttle bus departs from a local hotel directly to and from airport.
Food not permitted in bedrooms and I'd prefer any little ones to eat and drink only in the kitchen/dining areas. I have grandchildren and am conscious of the extra cleaning they can necessitate. Energy consciousness greatly appreciated.
