Cream City Colonial - Hazel's Room

House - Private room · N 77th St, Milwaukee, WI 53222, United States

The Space

This home is located in the city of Milwaukee, but in the northwest side of the city, about 7 miles from downtown Milwaukee, and only 2 miles from downtown Wauwatosa, which has a quaint village with restaurants and shops.

This private room, named after my paternal grandmother, is perfect of a single traveler. The room includes a 3/4 bed (we refer to as a "king-size" twin bed), sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels. Plenty of street parking is available for free (registration done online prior to arrival) or there is an off-street parking spot available for your use. Access to the house includes shared living room, dining room, and bathroom. TV is not of importance in this house, so we only have the ability to watch movies via DVD or VHS. Wi-Fi internet is available if you want to catch a TV show via your laptop. Washer and dryer are available for extended stays.

This two story, air conditioned, hardwood floors throughout, brick colonial is located in a peaceful neighborhood and has two available bedrooms on the second floor. The bedroom would share a bath (shower / tub) with owner. There is also a half bath in the lower level. There is a nice size deck with a pub table and chairs outside, a firepit in the backyard, and a bicycle for your use during your stay, if you desire.

For those that might be allergic to cats, Kiko (grey tabby) likes to keep to herself and is fine if you completely ignore her.

A light, simple continental breakfast (coffee, tea, juice, milk, fruit and muffin) is available during the week and a full breakfast (coffee, tea, juice, milk, entree, fruit and bread) on weekend. We also offer a sweet treat upon arrival. Additional meals can be negotiated for your stay.

When you arrive you'll notice a Little Free Library in the front yard. The concept behind the library is promote literacy and the philosophy is to "take a book and leave a book". There are no due dates on books taken from the library and they can be returned to any Little Free Library. Bring a book with you on your trip to Milwaukee, feel free to leave one in the library, but if you don't have a book feel free to still help yourself to a book to enjoy during your stay or on your travels.

This Cream City Colonial is located 2 blocks from a city bus stop and several restaurants. More information is available on local attractions, restaurants and events.

  • Inclement weather prevented me from traveling to Milwaukee but Dawn has been great about keeping up with me and helping me reschedule my visit.

    February 2014
  • Dawn was an extremely welcoming host and a top tier baker (that's saying a lot given I have a Baking & Pastry degree!!!). Like Dawn, her home was very welcoming and a pleasant, quiet and homey change from impersonal hotel rooms. I got a perspective on the city that would not have happened in a hotel setting and have already booked my next stay with this wonderful lady!

As an added plus her home is within walking distance from several bus lines and an area drug store. I've stayed in plenty of hotels over the years and couldn't describe one with any detail but had an overall fantastic experience with Dawn. Who knew you could find southern hospitality in Wisconsin?

    January 2014
  • Dawn´s place is exactly as she described it. It is a beautiful and spacious home in a very quiet and peaceful neighbourhood, with good communication to downtown and other Milwaukee areas. The room (and all house) was very clean and the bed very comfortable. Dawn is a great host, very nice, friendly and generous. She made me feel like my home while I was there. I would definitely recommend her house to other guests.

  • My first trip with Air BnB went to Milwaukee. The 110th Harley Davidson Aniversary Festival was the reason. After checking all traditional ways of travelling ;-) without suggest, a friend suggested Air BnB. Checking the offers for Milwaukee Dawn was the first and the best offer.
Dawn makes my visit comfortable, peaceful and very friendly. Thanks a lot for a lovely stay in your house. See you (phone number hidden)th!

    September 2013
  • Dawn made my first experience with Airbnb a good one. She was friendly and flexible to accommodate my particular situation. I ended up not spending too much time at her place so I was unable to take full advantage of the hospitality that she offered!

    August 2013
  • I contacted Dawn at the very last minute about staying with her, and from our initial first contact, and for the duration of my stay, I found her to be extremely accommodating and hospitable. She is a wonderful and warm host. Very kind and easy to get along with, as well as very generous with her time and her advice. I felt very comfortable and relaxed around Dawn and at the home.
The house is beautiful, as is the bedroom and the bed. You would be hard pressed to find fault.

The house is about a 45 minute bus ride from Downtown, which if you don't have a car/bike is a bit of a pain, though there is a bus within two minutes walking distance.
I very much enjoyed my stay with Dawn, and if you don't mind being a little bit further from Downtown, I'd highly recommend staying with Dawn.

    August 2013
  • Perfect home away from home. Dawn is an awesome host, helped me feel at home right away, and had lemon bars waiting for me upon arrival! The bed and whole house were very comfortable. I had a great experience and will be back.

    August 2013
  • Dawn was great to deal with. I was not able to make my scheduled trip to Milwaukee and was not able to stay at Dawn's place as planned because of a last-minute schedule change on my end. However, Dawn was very communicative via email and phone from the time I made my reservation until the time I determined that I would not be able to make it up to Milwaukee after all as planned. I will definitely keep Dawn in mind for my next stay in Milwaukee.

    August 2013
  • I has the most terrific Airbnb experience with Dawn. She made me feel write at home, offered delicious treats, and was incredibly sweet and easy to talk with. Her home is a beautiful and cozy place to be. I plan to come back next summer and would not stay anywhere else.

    August 2013
  • Dawn was a wonderful host. The room and home are very comfortable and there is often the smell of a tasty baked good in the air. I'd recommend staying here without any hesitation!
