The history of the neighbourhood:
In Rome's Regal period (753-509 BC), the area across the Tiber belonged to the hostile Rome conquered it to gain control of and access to the river from both banks, but was not interested in building on that side of the river. In fact, the only connection between Trastevere and the rest of the city was a small wooden bridge called the Pons By the time of the Republic c. 509 BC, the number of sailors and fishermen making a living from the river had increased, and many had taken up residence in Trastevere. The area began to be considered part of the city under Augustus, who divided Rome into 14. Thanks to its partial isolation (it was "beyond the Tiber") and to the fact that its population had been multicultural since the ancient Roman period, the inhabitants of Trastevere, called Trasteverini, developed a culture of their common people of famous tenacity, pride and authenticity.
Today Trastevere still maintains its character through the winding streets covered with sanpietrini (the typical pavement of Rome) overlooked medieval houses. The night is full of people, both Italian and foreign, thanks to the wealth of restaurants and pubs for every price range.
It is one of the most lively, characteristic and self-sufficient of the city. Offers typical Roman restaurants and pizzerias as well, markets as Portaportese, the largest and oldest flee market in Rome, workshops of every kind and elegant shops.
Another trait that characterizes the area are the monuments to Gioachino Belli and Trilussa, emblems Trastevere and The Tiber Island that is the only urban island of the Tiber in Rome city center.
The neighborhood offers all the amenities you need, typical restaurants, organized tours, many pubs and clubs for nightlife, every Sunday morning there is PORTAPORTESE, the most famous and historic street market of Rome and a excellent sports center at 100 meters.
The connections with the city are excellent! The house has the Tram n°8 right under the house, that in a few minutes can connect you to the historic center, to the Vatican the train connects you in 10 minutes, Ghetto and the rest of the city. Then in 3 minutes walk, you arrive at the train station for the airport. If you are by car, there is a payment garage under the house or also free parking.

Very friendly host, excellent room! One of the best bedsbive slept on in my life. Highly recommend.
Recomendable
It was a nice stay in Rome :). everyone was really nice and the location is great, the central area is really close by bus and there are lots of things to explore around. We really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it
We had a really nice staying in Rome. The room was comfortable and very clean. There was a really nice kitchen and the room had a place for us to display some of our things and clothes, which helped a lot.
The location was perfect coming from the airport, because it is really really close to the Trastevere train Station. It was a little bit far from Trastevere most popular center, but it had a bus stop two squares from the apartment which allowed us to access very easily and quickly all the city by bus.
The minute we got there the host gave us a map and explained us how to get everywhere in the city by bus.
What made our staying a little hard was going on August, which was very hot, and since the room did not have air conditioner and the fan wasn't too strong, sleeping at night was a little uncomfortable! Also we couldn't leave the window shutter opened because the room was in the first floor direct to the street, allowing to see everything inside and very noisy even at night. The window is sound proof, but we couldn't shut it due to the hot weather.
The shower area was very very small, specially for my husband, who is quite a big guy.
I would could back, but maybe not in the summer!!
We had a pleasant stay at Alexsandros B&B and everything is like he described. He gave us a lot of recommendations, so we had the best evenings in Rome :) thank you!
