Interaction with Guests
Unfortunately, I won't be onsite to welcome you, but Rosa Maria, who lives on the ground floor is available (until 9am and from 3-6pm) if you have any questions. She works at a nearby Hotel during the day and can be reached in case of emergency. I am always reachable by email or mobile phone/text message.
Gluringen is a typical very old alpine village. Most houses were built in 15 and 16th century. Most inhabitants who live in this valley have been working around wood, farming and other outdoor professions. The german dialect spoken in the Wallis (wallisertitsch) is very special but most people are happy to meet other cultures and will speak with hands and feet to exchange stories and welcome you!
Swiss Railways and Bus lines are very reliable and it is really easy to travel by public transportation. The bus stop is down the road (3' walk) and the train station is across the street (7' walk). It is very easy to reach by car although some passes (Nufenen and Grimsel) are closed in the "winter" (mid-October through mid-June). The Fruka Pass is the best way to reach the valley coming from the North or the East but trains don't run after 10pm. Coming from Italy, the Simplon is best and from Geneva take the highway.
