About this listing
Enjoy beautiful Litchfield County, CT from a well appointed art filled, one bedroom cottage that perches on a hill with sunset views of Hatch Pond. Access is by private road. Open floor plan in the living/dining/kitchen area with new stainless appliances. Very quiet and relaxing decor with large windows looking out to wooded areas.
Front porch deck overlooking Hatch Pond, shade garden, hammock, stone patio area, parking place for two vehicles, privacy, and four short miles to the town center of Kent. Stone fire place, hardwood floors, indoor dining area, gas grill and table for four on front deck during late spring to late fall.
Kent is a four season area. Winter brings both down hill and cross country skiing, spring beautiful gardens, hiking and biking, summer fishing and swimming, and fall beautiful changing of the leaves, mums and pumpkins. Lake View Cottage is near many boarding schools including South Kent school the next street over, fishing, biking, on CT wine trail, Appalachian Trail, near Kent Falls and Bulls Bridge, antiquing on scenic Route 7, swimming in Lake Waramaug, great restaurants and shops in Kent, CT.
This is the perfect place if you want quiet and relaxation, to read, sit by the fire or on the deck depending on the season, and just get away from it all. Kent is very low key and casual. If you are looking for night life or craziness this is not the place you want to book..........
Must be okay with cats as two sometimes live here..............
The cottage is not really appropriate for children but please feel free to inquire. Once Lake View Cottage is booked there is an extensive list of neighboring places to go and suggestions. Pets of any type cannot be accepted and please do not book more than two months in advance. Many thanks.
The host made me feel welcomed. There were many stairs on the side of the property that was not included in the listing. Having broken my ankle, this proved difficult. After host approved my dates and charged my credit card, she then let me know I would be caring for her cats, including scooping the litter box. This was not in the listing.
There was no room for my items in the fridge as well as in the bedroom. This was my first experience on the site and it was not good.
When I read Patsy's review, I went back to our email exchange, and I clearly stated my cats would be there and need to be looked after BEFORE she booked and airbnb charged her credit card. She stated this was fine and she had a cat for 12 years. I also have photos of the cat in my photo section, and list that I have two cats so those that are allergic know and will not book.
Carla was a truly wonderful host. Due to a heavy summer storm we had some slight issues with electricity when we first arrived: Carla was incredibly attentive and involved and ensured we were doing well--she even offered a partial refund!
The cottage is wonderful and her two cats were great to spend time with. We spent two days at the nearby lake and also enjoyed the beautiful nearby town.
I hope to return to Carla's lovely cottage and would definitely recommend that others visit.
The cottage is enjoyable and Carla left lovely flowers for us. Thanks very much for hosting on such short notice.
As described but better! Very well maintained and comfortable cottage home. The surrounding area is really lovely as well. Although peaceful and quiet - still only 10 mins to town. Carla has decorated the place beautifully and was a pleasure to communicate with the entire way. We'd gladly return!
The cottage was exactly what we wanted: quiet, welcoming and a great place to relax. It had everything we needed to make a couple quick meals (dishwasher was a big plus!), and the porch outside was perfect for eating and chatting. Carla had the place ready for us, including a nice place setting on the table and information on the area for our use, and she was also very communicative throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. The town of Kent is close by and has a few restaurants and shops that look great -- we only got to Kingsley Tavern but we weren't disappointed, it was excellent! Thanks Carla, hope to be back again soon.
A beautiful, beautiful cottage in an idyllic part of Connecticut. Carla's home is perfect for a weekend getaway out of the city. We had a fantastic weekend of chilling, cycling and eating. Carla was an excellent host. I can't recommend this place enough. We definitely want to come back.

About the Host, Carla
I love all the cultural aspects that NYC offers including museums, theatre, opera, dance, restaurants, etc. I also love to read and travel. I'm usually at the apartment in NYC during the week and leave on Thursday for weekends in CT where I love to garden, cook, spend time outdoors and birdwatch!
