Enjoy beautiful Litchfield County, CT from a well appointed art filled, one bedroom cottage that perches on a hill with sunset views of Hatch Pond. Access is by private road. Open floor plan in the living/dining/kitchen area with new stainless appliances. Very quiet and relaxing decor with large windows looking out to wooded areas.
Front porch deck overlooking Hatch Pond, shade garden, hammock, stone patio area, parking place for two vehicles, privacy, and four short miles to the town center of Kent. Stone fire place, hardwood floors, indoor dining area, gas grill and table for four on front deck during late spring to late fall.
Kent is a four season area. Winter brings both down hill and cross country skiing, spring beautiful gardens, hiking and biking, summer fishing and swimming, and fall beautiful changing of the leaves, mums and pumpkins. Lake View Cottage is near many boarding schools including South Kent school the next street over, fishing, biking, on CT wine trail, Appalachian Trail, near Kent Falls and Bulls Bridge, antiquing on scenic Route 7, swimming in Lake Waramaug, great restaurants and shops in Kent, CT.
This is the perfect place if you want quiet and relaxation, to read, sit by the fire or on the deck depending on the season, and just get away from it all. Kent is very low key and casual. If you are looking for night life or craziness this is not the place you want to book..........
Must be okay with cats as two sometimes live here..............
The cottage is not really appropriate for children but please feel free to inquire. Once Lake View Cottage is booked there is an extensive list of neighboring places to go and suggestions. Please do not book more than two months in advance. Many thanks.
Carla's home was perfectly clean and was all set up for our Valentine's Day weekend getaway. Heart-shaped plates and all! We appreciated all of the information she provided us with about our arrival, the house, and local attractions. I definitely recommend this house for a cozy getaway anytime of year!
My boyfriend and I came up from the city to celebrate his 40th birthday and couldn't be happier with our choice of accommodations. Carla's cabin is so cozy, just a perfect place for two people. She has a great selection of books and, thankfully, no wifi, so you the best thing to do, really, especially in the winter, is to build a fire, cook some food, and spend hours poring over her excellent home library. The house has a phenomenal view and a very comfortable an inviting ambience. And it is very conveniently close to town, so while you have the true feeling of getting away, you also can pop in for all the creature comforts (coffee! wine!) in less than 10 minutes. I hope to return soon!
We spent twelve nights in Carla's cottage over the Christmas Holidays, while visiting our son, his wife and four children nearby. We appreciated returning to our quiet roost in the evenings after an active day with family! The house was warm, colourful, cosy and full of art objects to muse over. We also appreciated Carla's obvious love of birds and the ambiance that created. The setting is beautiful - we loved looking up at the stars and the trees at night and the view of Hatch Pond on the winter mornings was dreamy. Carla answered our questions promptly by email and encouraged us to communicate with her. This house suited our winter needs. We'd love to be there in Spring or Summer - it must be great to sit on the deck, feel the sun and watch the birds.
Carla has a very well organized airbnb page which is only beaten by the comfort and beauty of her lovely property in Connecticut. We had a great weekend here, spent mostly by the fireplace appreciating the decorations and Carla's amazing library of books and objets d'art. Carla stayed in contact with us throughout our visit, answering any questions we had promptly and helpfully. Thank you for sharing this home with us!
This home is absolutely charming. Very easy to arrange, delightful setting, lovely appointments, and very comfortable. It's wonderful to wake up and look out over the lake in the morning. Carla made everything easy and hassle free.
We really enjoyed our stay at Carla's lake view cottage. It's cute, clean, and quaint in a nice quite area, but with all the comforts of home. The home is nicely appointed and well provisioned. We had no problem finding all the cookware and utensils we needed to make breakfast and dinner every day, and lounging in the living room near the fireplace was wonderful. The whole experience was exactly what we were looking for.
There were no curtains in the bedroom during our visit, which is a little off-putting as the bedroom feels quite…exposed. We hung an extra sheet over the window facing the nearest road which helped.
All in all I'd HIGHLY recommend staying here!
We rented Carla's cottage for 3 long weekends while visiting our son at Kent School. The cottage is more spacious and cozy than the pictures reveal, and the lot is really lovely and private. The living room, bathroom and dining room are all spacious for a cottage. The bedroom has only a double bed so plan on being cozy if there are two of you. Carla has a great collection of eclectic artwork which we enjoyed discovering. We brought fishing pools, and my son fished in the pond, which is right across the road. The pond would be a nice place to kayak and there is a boat ramp right down the road. For those internet dependent, the cabin does not have internet but we had excellent Verizon service and were able to use our cell phones as hot spots with no problems. We spent time shopping in the town of Kent and hiking the Appalachian Trial which is about a 10 minute car ride from the cottage. We really enjoyed our time at the cottage and hope to be back!

I love all the cultural aspects that NYC offers including museums, theatre, opera, dance, restaurants, etc. I also love to read and travel. I'm usually at the apartment in NYC during the week and leave on Thursday for weekends in CT where I love to garden, cook, spend time outdoors and birdwatch!
