The Space

Enjoy beautiful Litchfield County, CT from a well appointed art filled, one bedroom cottage that perches on a hill with sunset views of Hatch Pond. Access is by private road. Open floor plan in the living/dining/kitchen area with new stainless appliances. Very quiet and relaxing decor with large windows looking out to wooded areas.

Front porch deck overlooking Hatch Pond, shade garden, hammock, stone patio area, parking place for two vehicles, privacy, and four short miles to the town center of Kent. Stone fire place, hardwood floors, indoor dining area, gas grill and table for four on front deck during late spring to late fall.

Kent is a four season area. Winter brings both down hill and cross country skiing, spring beautiful gardens, hiking and biking, summer fishing and swimming, and fall beautiful changing of the leaves, mums and pumpkins. Lake View Cottage is near many boarding schools including South Kent school the next street over, fishing, biking, on CT wine trail, Appalachian Trail, near Kent Falls and Bulls Bridge, antiquing on scenic Route 7, swimming in Lake Waramaug, great restaurants and shops in Kent, CT.

This is the perfect place if you want quiet and relaxation, to read, sit by the fire or on the deck depending on the season, and just get away from it all. Kent is very low key and casual. If you are looking for night life or craziness this is not the place you want to book..........

Must be okay with cats as two sometimes live here..............

  • We had a wonderful week at Carla's cottage. The surroundings are beautiful and it's very quiet. The house is very nice, feels like you are visiting an old friend. You feel like home immediately.
We came in July, which means a lot of Mosquitos...we wanted to sit outside but they were eating us up.
Carla is very helpful and an excellent host!
I would really recommend this wonderful cottage.

  • With my husband, we stayed four days in Carla's cottage and we had really great time. The cottage is very cozy and comfortable. It was the perfect place to relax. You have everything to feel like at home. The surroundings are lovely, we took our breakfast outside with the squirrels... Kent is charming little city with friendly people.
It was very easy to communicate with Carla.

  • Carla's cottage was perfect for us. It's a very charming home in a beautiful area. We enjoyed visiting Kent and the surrounding areas to dine and sight-see/hike/bike. Lots of cute shops and galleries around as well. We didn't meet Carla but she was flexible and accommodating.

  • Carla’s home and hospitality exceeded our expectations. Contact with her was fluid and her response time is unparalleled. Carla truly made our first experience with Airbnb a seamless one. The reviews are all true- her little cottage translates much better in person, even though her photos are beautiful. There is an intangible element present at Carla’s cottage that photos cannot capture. The care and attention to detail that are conscious choices, but seem so natural in her home’s environment; like setting places for us at the table prior to our arrival complete with seasonal dinnerware, a floating flower arrangement and sea saltcellars. The careful placement of fresh flowers in bud vases throughout her home, her well-stocked kitchen smattered with unique spices, intriguing primal artwork, potted plants and elements of the earth at every turn. One feels closer to nature even indoors. Carla surely must’ve had a previous incarnation as an interior designer! The fireplace was amazing, and her cozy living room created a nest for the short retreat we needed. The only neutral comment I will make is that there are no blinds or curtains on the bedroom windows- there is no cause for concern regarding privacy, as Carla’s place is pretty secluded in those respects. However, if you are the type that prefers not to rise with the sun, bring a sleep mask is all. We enjoyed everything about our stay and would recommend this quaint, eclectic and peaceful home (and it’s proprietress!) to everyone, and hope to return again.

  • Carla's house was perfect. My boyfriend and I were looking for an easy weekend getaway from the city, and Carla's cottage was just the spot. It was an easy train/drive from NYC, Kent is an adorable little town, and Carla did everything in her power to make sure we were taken care of. The weekend blizzard made it perfect for cooking in her well-equipped kitchen and reading books by the fire. The area was perfectly serene, with a beautiful lake right across the road. The cottage was exactly what we were looking for and we can't wait to come back in the spring, summer, and fall!

I love all the cultural aspects that NYC offers including museums, theatre, opera, dance, restaurants, etc. I also love to read and travel. I'm usually at the apartment in NYC during the week and leave on Thursday for weekends in CT where I love to garden, cook, spend time outdoors and birdwatch!
