I and Lisbon, Lisbon and I... to cut a long story short.
Born and raised in Lisbon, (all family after 3 generations, living in city centre), Architect, I work in films as Production designer and Art director, creating ephemeral spaces.
Always living the city life, from day to night and overnight, always travelling, living and working around the world, I have done a little bit of everything you can imagine.
I have designed myself all the places I rent in Airbnb, so, I like to think that, in terms of Airbnb, my spaces will select to stay, people that I will like, as also they will like the work i did in this spaces.
I'm not a person dedicated to tourism or to welcoming and showing Lisbon, I just want to rent my places.
It happened to me to start this, 1st by having some properties in the city center and 2nd by dwelling myself in the BICA neighbourhood, in LISBON, where Lisbon's most photographed street, RUA DA BICA DUARTE BELO, ( a "must see" in the city).
It descends a hill from BAIRRO ALTO to the riverfront, (the urban structure looks like s fish spine), and the streets that cross it form a charming residential neighbourhood known as BICA, in ancient times connected to the river and is economic activities.
That picturesque street is known for it's funicular, the iconic BICA TRAM car, that cooly creaks up and down the hill, as tourists snap photos.
Framing the funicular there are pastel coloured buildings and houses, alongside of the street, with the river in the distance.
At night all this quietness changes into a hip area with the opening of a few nice bars and restaurants, and then, you really want to be there!
A strange vehicle, as if come out of the imagination of the novelist Jules Verne, with an amazing design circulates in the city of Lisbon.
The original vehicle contained reservoirs of water that filled the highest point, and emptied at the lowest point, working in pairs, connected by a cable system, running by the difference of weights, the so called, FUNICULAR system.
Conceived by Portuguese engineer, Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard, the funicular was installed in 1892.
Due to its enormous historical importance, cultural and touristic, the elevator was classified National Heritage in February 2002.
