About This Listing
This is the kitchen/dining/living space. It's bright and sunny at breakfast time, and has a lovely fireplace for those chilly Autumn evenings
2-bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment with lovely views, full kitchen, access to pool. Sleeps 4
When my mother first moved here in 1985, this was the only part of Patrignone that was habitable. It was once occupied by one of the contadini (tenant farmer) families, and still has most of the original features, including the original fire place (that gives the apartment its name), wooden beams, the old terracotta tiles, and two original arched windows found during the restoration have been rescued and look into the old Frantoio, the old olive pressing room.
It is a roomy, bright and breezy apartment with two bedrooms, one king-size double with en-suite bathroom, and another king-size double with en-suite bathroom that can also be made up as a twin bedroom. Your kitchen has a lovely dining table and a comfortable sofa, with wonderful views over the olive groves and forests, and you can use the shady gazebo nearby as your private outdoor dining area. The entrance to this 1st floor (i.e. not ground floor) apartment is through the main copper-clad gates via the old courtyard at the heart of the house. The staircase also leads to your private balcony over the courtyard below.
It is one of my favourite places to sleep as it has the best sunset views and holds many fond memories for us.
About Podere Patrignone
Podere Patrignone is a beautiful old 15th Century estate ('podere') which has been lovingly and tastefully restored. Patrignone is set on top of it's own hill reached by a long, winding private road that ends at Patrignone. It is set in 150 acres of forest, olives and vines, with uninterrupted 360 degree views over the Tuscan valley. It's the perfect setting for peaceful walks, sunbathing, cycling and exploring. It has a lovely pool with one of the best vistas in Tuscany. Wake up to the mists rising through the trees and the beautiful views of surrounding vineyards, or catch an amazing sunset over the towers of San Gimignano and the snow-capped Apennines on the horizon. It is divided into 5 self-contained apartments and the Villa, all beautifully furnished in a traditional style. Villa Patrignone can be rented as a whole (7 en-suite doubles) or you may rent individual rooms on a B&B basis. The Villa and four apartments are listed here. Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as you like! We live here all year around and we're here to help, if you need it.
We're right up in the Chianti hills, with the most amazing views in all directions. The charming towns of Castellina in Chianti and San Donato in Poggio are just 10 minutes away in either direction, so you have lots of great restaurants & bars to choose from, as well as supermarkets, delis, and wine shops. We're surrounded by wineries on all sides, so you'll have plenty to visit.
You will need to hire a car, no doubt about it. Public transport is not great around here.
