THE APARTMENT AND ITS INTERIOR SPACES
The master bedroom has an original Arts déco colourful stained-glass window making up the double door leading to the living room. It includes a large Queen’s size bed with a high quality mattress, bed-linens, a table and three chairs, large wall closets and an alcove with bedside lights.
Living room — TV — telephone
The living room is lighted through a wide floor-to-ceiling window, enhancing the colours of this already colourful room. The genuine wooden floor provides an original rich and warm tone. The furniture comprises an easy pullout convertible bed with a comfortable double mattress and two arm chairs at each side of the room. A glass-top coffee table displays various books about Nice, its region, their history and their artistic and touristical resources. Four stools, sliding out from under the table, provide extra seatings. A large closet allows the storage of clothes and of the various usual devices.
The room holds a 99 cm large flatscreen LED TV cable related to almost 100 stations including many channels in English such as CNN, BBC, SKYNEWS, sports channels etc. The telephone allows free international calls to fixed phones of over 100 countries. Fixed and mobile calls are allowed to the USA, Canada and all calls inside France. Please check the list of allowed countries before using this bonus, which will make you save lots of money.
The dining area is lighted in the same way, opening to the terrace and the garden too. It holds a large transparent table, six wrought iron chairs and a cupboard of oriental style. The floor is covered with classical black and white floor tiles. The room is ornamented by plants and, as in the rest of the flat, by reproductions of works of art in harmony with the age of the building.
The californian style kitchen has been completely refurbished with new high quality appliances. Included are an electric oven, a four burners halogen hob, an overhead extractor, a dishwasher, a fridge-freezer, a microwave, an expresso coffee maker, a toaster, a kettle and a steam cooker. The jade colored furniture, together with the gray marble breakfast bar, form a really astonishing kitchen.
The bathroom has also been renewed. It includes a bath with shower, a large wash basin, a bidet and toilet. A floor-to-ceiling wall closet holds a new washing machine, a dryer, a steam iron and an ironing board, together with a hair dryer and high quality towels.
THE OUTSIDE SPACES AND THE URBAN ENVIRONMENT
The private garden
The 50 m2 garden illustrates the Arts déco style, with its circular concrete table surrounded by matching concrete benches and other devices contributing to a symetrical composition. The benches, the sun lounger chairs and the retractable sunshades allow you to enjoy this space of calm and serenity close to the Promenade, ornamented with typical mediterranean plants and flowers. You can smell the fragrances of various aromatic flowers and plants, as well, you can use some of them — with moderation — as spices to better your meals.
An exceptional maritime environment
Our private garden opens directly on the world famous promenade des Anglais. The four miles long urban beach of Nice spreads in front of the apartment, right across the street, offering the most gorgeous seascape on the Riviera. The beach of Nice alternates public and private concessions. In front of the flat, the public beach (plage du Forum) is one of the best, with an aid post and neighboured by private beaches with good quality restaurants.
An attractive urban environment
Designed in 1939, completed in 1941, the building “palais Mary“ (53, promenade des Anglais), representative of the architectural style Arts déco, is inspired by maritime patterns. Its central position conciliates the touristic activity and the urban life. It is particularly convenient as regards the shopping facilities (food and clothing shops, restaurants, banks, hair dressers…), the touristic settlements (bars, casinos, night-clubs…), as the cultural equipments (museums, theaters, cinémas…). A large pattern of these facilities are accessible immediatly, after a few minutes of pleasant walk or in less than 15 mn by the numerous city buses stopping near by.
An attractive transport network
On the one hand the palais Mary is served by several lines of frequent urban and suburban bus lines (even on sundays). On the other hand, the fare is attractive : 1 or 1,5 euro for any journey, connections allowed within a duration of 74 minutes. This is worth in all the district of the Alpes-Maritimes. One can thus explore not only the city of Nice but the seaside or mountain resorts within a radius of about 50 km. Nice is also served by a dense net of bikes to hire in free service (“vélos bleus“).

The apartment is lovely & the stained glass window is even more spectacular in the flesh! The apartment is just across the (6 lane!) road from the beach, which was very convenient. Parking was a little tricky but available out the front if you got lucky! Philippe was full of local info and an obliging host.
Beautiful place for small family: access to beach; 5-10 walk to zone pietonne and place massena ; access to bus for trips east towards Monaco; and 15 mins walk from train station for most efficient journeys westward. Greg is such a nice host; always very helpful. Flat has everything; terrace is gem especially if you have kids! We enjoyed our stay so much; thank you Greg!

The apartment is location within a few blocks of the Negresco. We were able to walk to the beach, restaurants, shopping, etc. For a quick trip down to Old Town, we found the taxi stand by the Negresco to be extremely useful.
Overall, it was the perfect space for us (my husband, 6-year old daughter and me). Great vacation!!!

Hellen and his husband are really nice people with whom you can communicate easyly, they respect everything in my appartment, they bought me also two sunchair for the terrasse and something to dry clothes, linens, towels etc.. outside you can trust to them,I recommend them near airbnb

We spent one week in Philippes apartment, end of April/beginnig of May 2014. The apartment is really great: spacious, clean, fully equipped and with beautiful art-déco-details. We were two couples with one two-year-old girl and one 8 months old baby staying there, and the apartment still didn't feel crowded. The garden is perfect for breakfasts and evening drinks. Philippe had arranged for two extra beds for the kids; and his parents, who welcomed us and gave us all the practical information about the apartment, were really the sweetest to both us and the children! We would recommend anyone to choose Philippes apartment for a great stay in Nice, and we would love to come back ourselves!
