Karen is a wonderful host and has a lovely and cozy house. My best friend and I came for the weekend and spent a full day at Kripalu; Karen's house was an easy drive from Kripalu and our overall trip was made very pleasant by staying at her place.
My sister and I spent two nights at Karen's while enjoying some R&R at Kripalu. Karen was flexible and accommodating with check-in. She is a friendly, easy-going host. The house is charming. The first floor bedroom was lovely, with a particularly cozy bed. Overall, our stay at Karen's provided us with a lovely winter retreat.
My boyfriend and I had a lovely weekend stay in Karen's cozy home. We stayed in the downstairs bedroom which had a comfy bed and were treated to strong coffee and a healthy breakfast both mornings of our stay. Karen was a fantastic and friendly host with lots of great travel stories, and she was communicative and flexible as we were all dealing with bad weather on the front end of the trip. I would highly recommend this spot to other Airbnb travelers looking to ski in the area. Many thanks Karen for a great experience.
I had a great visit staying at Karen's house. The house was very clean and comfortable. Karen was a wonderful hostess and had great suggestions for food and activities in the area. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend.
We stayed in the quaint and picturesque town of Housatonic with lovely Karen W for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The huge snowstorm predicted only left a beautiful landscape we could enjoy from the fireplace in her cozy house. If you have not visited this town yet, you need to go since its truly a place where time has stood still. Neighbors know neighbors and enjoy their views of Tom Ball Mountain while tipping back a pint at the restored Brick House Pub or nibbling on delicious bread from the local Berkshire Bakery.
The owner took action from an earlier review and supplied extra heaters in the private bedroom and bath, so no worries there. She provided a lovely breakfast of bread, fruit and cheese, coffee and tea and allowed us to heat up our leftovers for lunch as well. I left behind a hat and received a call the very next day that it would be mailed out immediately. What service!
This town is lovely in the winter but amazing in the summer also.
My husband and I stayed in Karen's downstairs room for 3 nights in November 2013. It was quite chilly outside (and in the bathroom!) but the house and bedroom were cozy and inviting. Karen welcomed us with tea and a chat, and was very friendly and hospitable throughout our stay. Do note that the private bathroom is not attached to the bedroom and is much smaller than the bath shown in the photos (which I assume is the upstairs shared bathroom). The house is nicely located and Matteo the cat was a lovely gentleman! We enjoyed our visit.
We continue to have great experiences with the airb&b community. Though only a one night stay, we found much in common with Karen and learned even more about her story which further broadened and enriched our experience.
Nice and quiet place with a lovely host. The bed was comfortable, the room nice furnished. The small village Housatonic is about 5 minutes far away from Great Barrington.
The reservation was canceled 10 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I really enjoyed staying at Karen's place on a quiet street of charming homes that is walking distance to interesting sites and beautiful river views. Karen welcomed me warmly and provided information on the area, particularly the art,s as she and I share that interest. The room was comfortable and clean and I would definitely stay at her cozy home again!
