This is a 2 bdrm apt in a prime location of Venice. Venice and my street has gone through some major development as of late and remains a major tourist destination with a super creative vibe. My cat Licorice and I live here and I am in one of the bedrooms and the one who knows the house and neighbors and community. I carry 13 years here, so ask me questions if you need to know, but I too am still exploring this very influential community learning. The other bedroom is for guests. Venice beach is a very hip and popular place to be in Los Angeles. Artists, musicians, yogis, architects, travelers, bohemians, business professionals, sports enthusiasts, techies, and filmmakers thrive here; among many others. There is a homeless contingency outside among daily skateboarders, surfers, visitors, travelers, bikers, professionals and the general celebratory vibe of Venice. A simple walk outside and you will find restaurants, juice bars, the beach, shops, dispensaries, skate parks, techie shops, vintage and boutique design, culture abound, etc. Exploring is quite easy to do around here with a very open and welcoming culture. I am busy with my professional and personal life, but can guide you in the right direction and enjoy pleasant and peaceful, feel free to be your best self. The room is clean and has a queen size bed, desk, lamp, small walk-in closet, and Wireless connection. The living room is open for casual relaxation, music listening, participating in group discussions, or whatever comforts you like to do at home. The living room is also a place for eating food, watching movies, having guests, and also for entertaining. So, please understand that there might be a guest, or it might just be a place of quiet, depending. The bathroom is freshly painted with a recently snaked drain (water collects at the bottom sometimes given the very intense pressure of the water flow) and sharing has not been a problem to this point but you might have to understand that it is a busy bathroom that I keep clean for the active beach lifestyle. I keep the house clean, however, one time I had a guest after the first rain and an entire ant farm came up in the house and another time my cat dragged in a rat and left it's maimed bloody body on the carpet for my house guest to find in the morning. So if you can handle reality, you will be fine. Sometimes I have been up all night e-mailing for business or visiting with a friend and sometimes I have been in bed at 8p.m. watching a movie quiet. Hard to put a box on life. Venice is extremely public and in two seconds one can be surrounded by people. The place is located 7 blocks from the beach, there is secured access to the building, it is comfortable and I am well-traveled, so I get the need for comfort away from home but also have an integral life with the community, so you might understand that this is my home and you are welcome to integrate and do what you need to do as I do. I tend to be working on the computer, on the phone, in the kitchen, watching news, listening to music or watching a movie in the living room and visiting with a friend, or being relaxed in bed watching a movie at night, or then again, maybe entertaining or hanging with a friend. I also do enjoy the yoga culture as well and often go out in the morning for meditation or yoga; or there might be an overnight guest in the home on occasion- life. The house is a space of comfort where you can come and go as you please and I do as well.
There is one little kitty named Licorice. She is very friendly and is three years old at this time. She and I have gone through ear mites, fleas, skin rashes, her coming out, her need for sleep and her acquaintance with several visitors. So she is used to you. She has been to the vet to get her treatments, eats well (although picky) and loves people, animals and children and sometimes in the Spring she gets crazy and I have to care for her, so don't mind her few bald spots, it is her age and activity level. She is indoor and outdoor. I keep the place clean and she is a shorthair. We have not had any problems with her and guests. In the summer months she spends much of her time outside as she sleeps more in the winter. The kitchen area has a space for her food, and we keep it clean. Sometimes I have some kind of cooking going on, so there are often dishes rotating and I am constantly everywhere taking out the trash, cleaning the counters and stove, filling the fridge and cooking, etc.
There is plenty of street parking but you need to read the signs for ticket days, really. We can hear the neighbors: cooking, building things, running kids, construction vehicles on the street, garbage trucks, the dog barking next door, tv's on at night, sometimes even a fight, guitar practice, piano practise, babies crying, sometimes even sex, etc. In other words, this is Urban on the beach. However, at times it can be very quiet. There is one gentleman who collects cans out back continuously outside for his living, so don't be surprised if someone is looking through the garbage out back. With my friends we have managed to co-be aware of any noise while also being respectful of adulthood and the freedom of being able to choose ones own hours. Oh yes, please read about 4:20 laws and be sure that you understand that reality here in Venice. I am aware and have a deep understanding of this, but be aware of Venice and the changing laws within the states- although in my home, it is responsibly controlled. But this is something, that even if not staying in my place, you will encounter on one level or another if staying in Venice. Feel free to ask questions.
On the rare holiday occasion or celebratory night a neighbor will have a party, so bring earplugs just in case. One time there was seven parties going on around me and my airbnb guest, and we were in bed at 9 p.m. trying to sleep and there was an entire block party- ok, this happened once, but it is out of my control. Sometimes maybe I will have a night where I need to stay up past midnight. I apologize in advance if it is bothersome, but if you really really need a totally silent house all the time, you might want to reconsider your location. However, I usually get that I am pretty quiet. The sun comes in in the morning on your side, so I put dark bamboo blinds up, but you still might want eye shades in case you want to sleep in with complete black and maybe earplugs if you are really sensitive.
The kitchen is open for you to use and Whole Foods is a walk away, and I am always in this arena as well. There are also lots of restaurants to choose from in the neighborhood which you might enjoy. Laundry is across the street and takes 14-18 quarters for a medium to large load and four to five quarters for the dryer and I am familiar with all of the attendants. Yes, your sheets are clean. Metro and Blue Bus lines stop on main street (6 blocks from here) and on Lincoln (one block from here) and the number for yellow cab:(phone number hidden). Coming from the airport, I find the fare is usually arnd $30-$40 and takes about 20 minutes and the shuttle is $10 with a few stops along the way taking about an hour. LA is a big city, so getting around can be challenging without a car, but people do do it. I also recommend uber and lyft for transportation, as they seem to have great drivers and also clean cars. This neighborhood is easy to get around by bike and there are lots of bike rental shops nearby. You are also welcome to use my bike if you are sure to lock it up when you are using it and if I am not using it. Roller blades, skateboards, and all other new technology vehicles and walking have also been popular choices for getting around if one does not have a rental bike or car.
Be careful to close gates, etc. and keep your bike locked if you rent or own one. Keep the gates locked behind you and my recommendation is that you don't walk around at night by yourself unless on the well-lit streets around here. While many people enjoy this city as a neighborhood and home, this still is the city.
Thank you! You are most welcome!
Respectful of me, property, and us who live here. My landlords realize I am hosting people here, and we, you the guest and me the host, have built a solid airbnb reputation. Let's keep it that way. I can be helpful at times, but please no outrageous commands or expectations. This is not a hotel and I am only one person. Please do your best to arrive with a non-competitive win-win attitude. This is a shared situation, so both our comfort is important but I do have various responsibilities to attend to and I love to find the balance between saying hello, having a chat, and also being busy. No random guests unless cleared by me. Return keys. This is my private space, my hours tend to vary day-to-day with a busy schedule to work from home and out. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns with the space and I will attend to them as soon as possible. Please be respectful of using towels and try to reuse towels until it is necessary to change. Please keep my phone number with you in case I am not home and you need to contact me- txtng, calling or sending an e-mail always works. If you are a smoker, please smoke outside in back outside the back gate, although I am 4.20 friendly, as are most Venice residents- within reason. If you do not want Licorice in your room, please close your door. Please do not leave the heater, fan and especially not the closet light on when you leave your room. Please do not leave water running. Please understand that this community has both affluent and poor people who are all trying to get along. It is a mixed racial community and it is foreign and domestic alike. There are gay and straight and young and old. Please be open minded and understand where you are staying. Local, national and international people are most welcome.
Enjoy yourself, relax, be yourself, feel at home, and thank you! It is a pleasure to have you here.
Sofia was a wonderful hostess! She took time to get to know me and let me know where some good spots in town are that would be good for me to visit. The space was clean and welcoming and very close to delicious restaurants, the bustling main street in Santa Monica, Abbott Kinney in Venice, and of course.. The beach :) Everything you could want! Licorice is the sweetest! I had a great stay at Sofia's
The place is vibrant and cozy. A relaxing spot to read, watch a movie and if Sofia is around, share a glass of wine with her cool and sophisticated company. Feeling thankful.
sofia has been the perfect host and we had the most amazing time there, venice beach is the center for everything and the beach is at walking distance.
her home has become our home and we are sure to come back soon xxx
Once again, my stay at Sofia's was wonderful. She is an attentive host and now a dear friend! The best part about Sofia's place is the location and the privacy. The tall locked gate made me feel incredibly secure the entire time I stayed. Parking my car on the street was also not a problem. You do have to move your car on Monday and Tuesday for the street cleaners so just check the signs before you park! Access to the Whole Foods and CVS makes everything so easy and there are amazing restaurants and wine bars on Rose Ave. Thanks Sofia!!
The host Sofia made me feel very welcome. The accommodation was as seen on the internet.
Sofia's house is a home from home. It was clean, cosy and everything worked. Sofia was an incredible host, very helpful and calm. We even went on a hike! I enjoyed hanging out with her. :)
Sophia was a wonderful combination of attentive and laid back hostess! Her well equipped kitchen and general location near Whole Foods was perfect for my restricted Paleo breakfast making needs. Great!

I am a Producer based in Venice. I love to: travel, go out for an interesting band or theatrical play, write, read, hike, eat amazing meals homemade or out in the scene, hang out with friends and family, meditate, dance, laugh, watch movies, have company, cook, laugh and entertain, etc.
As a host I am pretty chill and have a busy, very busy, social life as well as business creative artists lifestyle. I love having guests who respect privacy and yet are easygoing and sociable as well. I have had guests stay here with me who we have had a dinner or a glass of wine to unwind, or there have been those who have said very little in weeks, and that is lovely too. I also have moments where I just want to curl up in my bed and watch a movie and read a book or then I might have a guest in the living room and conversation gets lively. It is kind of a down-to-earth style that allows you to feel and be what you are and also gives me that space as well.
I have traveled a lot around the world for work, for pleasure, for family- I have traveled five star and also beach tent. I like variety and for me airbnb is a way to meet other travelers and be a place for travelers to land.
