Colle dell'ara is not a hotel. Staying with us, in our home, means treating yourself to a rare experience.
We are in Positano, in the small village of Montepertuso, located just above this corner of paradise on the Amalfi Coast.
The building is situated on top of the hill and can be reached on foot in 5-6 minutes through an ancient path, fully illuminated at night.
We are Pasquale and Giacomo, who with the help of our father Michele, a few years ago we decided to undertake this activity which constantly
is giving us the opportunity to convey to our guests our main passions for hospitality and good food. These passions, well-established in our
coastal land and agriculture, allowing us to constantly reinvent the offer to our guests dedicated, basing it on availability and seasonality values.
We host you in rooms equipped with private bathroom and balcony overlooking the sea of Positano between the islands of Capri and Li Galli. Each room has a large double bed (with the possibility of adding a single bed), and are equipped with linens, towels and toiletries. Free wi-fi connection is working in all our spaces. We provide you with keys for your independent access at every time.
Interaction with Guests
Upon your arrival you will find free parking slots along the road and we'll help you carry your luggage with a special pulling system.
We will assist you from beginning, accompanying you throughout whole of your stay suggesting you the best local amenities including activities from ourselves offered.
You will have here the opportunity to experience our land through different activities such us farming excursions and local cooking classes (events organized on reservation). We always include breakfast, different every day and based on availability of our gardens, or made by the breads and cakes that we daily prepare.
The center of Positano is reachable by bus in 20 minutes or 35-40 minutes through a centuries-long staircase. For trekking lovers, our structure is directly related to the main paths of Monti Lattari and the most famous Walkpath of God.
However, we are located at the center of several important location like Pompei, Capri, Amalfi, Ravello and Sorrento, reachable by ferry, bus or car. Nearby you will find shops and restaurants.
Staying at colle dell'ara in Positano was an amazing experience. Everything was to our liking, including the beautiful terrace views and excellent variety for breakfast. Pasquale and his family are all very welcoming and my boyfriend and I would recommend their home to anyone visiting Positano! Just be aware that the b&b is situated on the very top of the hill so getting up and down requires a lot of walking; it was okay for us, but just so you know before you arrive! Grazie Mille!
Ci vediamo dopo :)
Our stay (couple) at this B&B was fantastic. Due to the end of day crowded bus and not being able to speak with the driver we got off the bus a couple of stops too early and walked uphill. Found the bell to accommodation, Matt met us quickly and we received a very warm welcome.
Food was wonderful, breakfast was the best we had during our trip.
We would fully recommend this accommodation as a haven from the bustle of the towns or cities you are visiting. Ideal location to walk the "Path of the Gods" which we enjoyed immensely.
Close enough to a choice of restaurants within the area.
During our stay we met other guests and shared taxi transport with another couple to Naples (can take several hours if doing this independently through buses/trains)
Amazing view from all rooms
Thank you Pasquale, we would love to revisit someday!
Pasquale and his family were sweet and attentive.
They organized a nice vegetarian dinner with their other lovely guests that served up home grown produce, at a cheaper rate than most restaurants in the area.
The location is further up the hill than the main area; we preferred a 10min walk into town, but it has amazing views of the water and the terraces below. And it really only takes a maximum of 25 mins to reach town on foot - well earned compensation for all the eating and drinking you do in Positano.
We enjoyed our stay and recommend getting out of the thick of it for a bit.
Colle dell'ara is absolutely fantastic! This old farmhouse has been updated beautifully...from the wooden doors to the ornate marble staircase, everything about it is spectacular! The surrounding gardens are amazing as well. You get to see a wide arrange of fresh produce...from a strawberry patch to a fig tree, with everything from walnut trees and artichoke plants in between. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the gorgeous town of Positano...who could complain about that kind of a view?!?
The breakfast buffet provided is wonderful as well. It changes everyday but includes meats, cheeses, omelets, eggs, toasts, fruit, and various sweets. Pasquale also offers to make you a fresh cappuccino every morning...which is hard to beat!
Even though this is a little off the beaten path, it is worth the extra effort to stay here. The views you get from being up on top of the hill are unbeatable!!!
Pasquale is very easy to communicate with and gives detailed instructions on how to check-in, I definitely recommend booking your stay with him.
Staying at Colle dell'ara was simply amazing and will be one of the most memorable experiences. It easily could have been the best part of my trip to France and Italy. Pasquale and his family welcomed us with open arms and I felt that we were visiting family rather than staying at a B&B. Yes, there are a lot of steps and it's a bus ride or a long walk to the beach, but the adventure is something that should be experienced. Each day starts out with a beautiful breakfast of fresh foods from their garden and local fare-- eggs, cakes and cheese. It's easily one of the best things I've eaten on my trip. They also have an options to join them for dinner ($30 euros each) and I HIGHLY suggest it. It's a vegetarian meal including wine and dessert. Again all ingredients are local or from their garden. They all have many suggestions for restaurants, day trips or ways to enjoy your time in Positano. Positano is a beautiful town that has so many sites and views. I also recommend taking the stairs down to the beach at least once. It'll give you more insight to the town and the people that live there, plus it will give you a great story. We had a wonderful stay and cannot wait to go back!
We loved loved loved the location and serenity of Pasquale & Giacomo's gorgeous home and bnb. The terrace was a beautiful view, vegetable garden and vibe. Both were very welcoming and helpful, and when only one night was available (last minute booking), found somewhere else nearby for us to stay.
We will say however that this one room itself was average... Lovely view (and mini balcony) but the bathroom was inconvenient way down the corridor and the bed felt unstable and rickety - not sex proof! ;)
We really enjoyed the people, the air, the breakfast, and if it had have been available during our stay, the social dinner and cooking class ;)
The location up on a hill involves an enjoyable 5 minute walk through forest vegetation from the road below (luggage can be taken up in a special pulley system). From this windy mountain road a shuttle can take you to dinner in the evenings - but a really nice walk around the curves :)
Thank you for having us at such short notice - albeit brief we truly appreciated experiencing your three-generation property :)
