Colle dell'ara is not a hotel. Staying with us, in our home, means treating yourself to a rare experience.
We are in Positano, in the small village of Montepertuso, located just above this corner of paradise on the Amalfi Coast.
The building is situated on top of the hill and can be reached on foot in 5-6 minutes through an ancient path, fully illuminated at night.
We are Pasquale and Giacomo, who with the help of our father Michele, a few years ago we decided to undertake this activity which constantly
is giving us the opportunity to convey to our guests our main passions for hospitality and good food. These passions, well-established in our
coastal land and agriculture, allowing us to constantly reinvent the offer to our guests dedicated, basing it on availability and seasonality values.
We host you in rooms equipped with private bathroom and balcony overlooking the sea of Positano between the islands of Capri and Li Galli. Each room has a large double bed (with the possibility of adding a single bed), and are equipped with linens, towels and toiletries. Free wi-fi connection is working in all our spaces. We provide you with keys for your independent access at every time.
Interaction with Guests
Upon your arrival you will find free parking slots along the road and we'll help you carry your luggage with a special pulling system.
We will assist you from beginning, accompanying you throughout whole of your stay suggesting you the best local amenities including activities from ourselves offered.
You will have here the opportunity to experience our land through different activities such us farming excursions and local cooking classes (events organized on reservation). We always include breakfast, different every day and based on availability of our gardens, or made by the breads and cakes that we daily prepare.
The center of Positano is reachable by bus in 20 minutes or 35-40 minutes through a centuries-long staircase. For trekking lovers, our structure is directly related to the main paths of Monti Lattari and the most famous Walkpath of God.
However, we are located at the center of several important location like Pompei, Capri, Amalfi, Ravello and Sorrento, reachable by ferry, bus or car. Nearby you will find shops and restaurants.
We found it quite easily and we're met by Pasquale at the bottom of the hill. We had to walk up about 100 steps but it was worth it! The B & B is just amazing! We had a beautiful room with a huge balcony overlooking Positano. The breakfast is extensive and is served on a patio with the same views over Positano. We had a lovely dinner cooked by our host and his Father, our only complaint being there was just too much! We loved catching the bus down to Positano each day- what an experience! Well located for day trips to Amalfi & Ravello and Capri. Our favourite place in Italy!
The house is absolutely beautiful, wonderfully decorated and up on the hills overlooking Positano. You do have to walk up a number of steps to get to the house but it only takes 3mins and is very scenic. The location is great, if I went back to the Amalfi coast, I would definitely choose to stay here rather than in Positano. Pasquale and Giacomo were also really friendly and helpful. And the breakfast!! Best breakfast I've ever had!!
What a BEAUTIFUL place to stay. The view is incredible and the room was very comfortable. Getting to and from the town of Positano is easy enough by bus. There is a path to walk down but it is strenuous (1600 steps/stairs). Lovely views along the way if you are willing to take the path. I highly recommend the dinner that is prepared at the BnB..many courses, 80% from the garden, and DELICIOUS. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay with stunning views.
Where can I begin? We loved Colle Del'ara from the moment we arrived. The hosts Giacomo and Pasquale were lovely and excellent hosts/cooks. The two dinners we had in the B&B were some of the best we had in all of Italy. The views are breathtaking and property was immaculate. We couldn't ask for anything more. Would recommend this place for anyone visiting Positano and looking to have a relaxing getaway.
If you do not know the Positano or Montepertuso areas well like my boyfriend and I didn't you too will be so happy Giacomo or his brother Pasquale walks the 5 minutes down to the street to help with your bags and guide you up to their family's home. The woodsy unpaved path up took us by surprise but how exciting and different from Positano city-like living! Pasquale did not leave any details out when showing the home too. You're surrounded by family history and growth in the pictures that hang, the farms on the property, and Giacomo's new nephew being played with by mom (who helps in the B&B) and grandpa who is the master cook. Giacomo holds the great vision in food and Pasquale has it all with a hospitality background. How they care for you and cook family dinners with all guests invited ($30 euro at the time, which was beyond worth it- all organic and fresh foods from their farms, and Pasquale keeps your glass full with incredible wine!) really shows their knowledge and passions to do what they do so well. I do not believe there was anything left unsaid or undone. Breakfast buffets were fabulous and the views are truly one of a kind gorgeous. Lastly, it is a family's home where you are cared for like family and the familial feel is even translated to the other guests you are staying with as well. Late night chats about life prior to the Positano area, then life experienced in Positano helped Scott and I decipher where to go and allowed us to share where our feet to us (the Path of Gods is a must!) and appetites took us (Santa Croce at the start of the path in Nochelle is beyond words and La Terra just below the B&B) was all hugely apart of why we enjoyed this home so much. Pasquale's very knowledgeable about where he grew up and is open in his sharing so ask, ask, ask and please enjoy.
My fiance and I drove to Colle dell'ara from Rome in mid-Septemeber and had a fantastic stay. The directions that Giacomo gave us were perfect and we were able to find free safe parking very easy.
We were glad we stayed above the actual city center because the views from this b&b are absolutely amazing. We got there in the day and it was beautiful, then the sun starts setting and you're like "i didn't know it could get any prettier" but then it does... and the entire town lights up at night. The first night we didn't leave the b&b, we walked around the area, had a nice glass of wine on the patio, and enjoyed a delicious homemade meal with the other guest at the b&b. The dinner and company were fantastic. Definitely make sure you go to the dinner if you stay here! Best money spent!
Getting our luggage to our room was very easy. The walk from the main road to the b&b (we're in our late 20s/early 30s) was not bad at all. Yes, it's a mini hike but very doable. Transportation from the b&b to the center of town is cheap/frequent/fast via the bus. You can also walk down to town, which is a beautiful walk down thousands (literally) of steps. Sore calves... but so worth it!
I highly recommend that everyone stay for longer than 2 nights, make time for it in your itinerary, we only stayed for 2 nights and we really regretted it. This B&B and the town are the most romantic places ever. Cannot wait to come back!
Pasqual - Giacomo's brother is a fabulous host. He picked me up from the Colle Dell'ara stop and walked me up to the guest house. I was famished and felt very badly about asking him to prepare me food but he made it no big deal and gave me a delicious vegetarian plate of food with the freshest vegetables you can imagine. I had a very short visit but will return and stay for a longer period of time when i can truly appreciate the nature/ experience of the guest house.
