  • What a great first Airbnb experience! Elizabeth was so helpful with suggestions and tidbits. She spoiled me at breakfast especially with her fantastic pancakes! She introduced me to grits and I LOVE them. Their home is in a beautiful neighbourhood and was central which made getting around very easy!! The room was so spacious and clean. Much more character than a hotel. A wonderful place to stay and will definitely go back if I get a chance to go that way again!

  • Elizabeth and Dan were such wonderful hosts, and their house was wonderful, full of history, but still a warm and inviting place. The room was spotless, as was the attached bathroom. Best of all, it was the perfect location, a quiet historic neighborhood mere blocks from downtown and only one block from the greenway that leads to either the NC State campus and Pullen Park. We had a fun-filled weekend get-away in Raleigh, thanks to Hotel Nicaragua!

    Response from Elizabeth & Dan:

"Hotel Nicaragua" was what the neighbors called our house when we bought it years ago. Once a commune and then a boarding house we brought it back to a single family home where we raised our 4 children..

  • Absolutely wonderful place to stay. We just hated to leave. Felt like we were part of the family in their warm and inviting home. The breakfasts were amazing. Walking in the neighborhood was a delight. Wonderful restaurants close by.

Yes, our neighborhood is definitely walkable with 5 foot wide sidewalks and shade trees.

  • Very sweet hosts and a beautiful historic home. My stay with Elizabeth and Dan was everything I expected and more. My room was cozy and peaceful and I looked forward to Elizabeth's lovely breakfast in the morning. Highly recommend :)

    Response from Elizabeth & Dan:

We are so fortunate that Hotel Nicaragua is in a quiet neighborhood just steps away from a vibrant downtown. Everyone loves a good night's rest!

  • What a wonderful experience. Elizabeth and Dan were gracious and friendly hosts and have a beautiful home in the historic neighborhood of Boylan Heights - all within easy striking distance of downtown Raleigh. I had a spacious, well-appointed, and crisply clean room and was served an amazing breakfast before my departure complemented by Elizabeth's homemade strawberry jam. My only regret is how short my trip was - I wish I had a little more time to soak it all in.

    Lovely Raleigh! Our favorite place!

  • We had a fabulous time at Elizabeth and Dan's Hotel Nicaragua! Such a beautiful home -- very comfortable and inviting. Elizabeth made us a wonderful breakfast, and we so enjoyed talking with her. Raleigh was much more fun than we'd even expected. Elizabeth showed us a great, short way to walk to Poole's Diner, which was scrumptious and different. Definitely worth a stop at this Airbnb in Raleigh. You are guaranteed to enjoy!

    Response from Elizabeth & Dan:

So many great restaurants in Raleigh! And many of them are an easy walk from our place.

  • We enjoyed every minute of our stay with Elizabeth and Dan at the Hotel Nicaragua. This was our first experience with airbnb, and we have truly been spoiled. Can't imaging any other location or hosts who could top this. We were served a delicious breakfast each day and quickly felt this beautiful place was our home away from home. Elizabeth and Dan shared their knowledge of their city and gave suggestions for excellent restaurants, many within walking distance. Raleigh is a great city to visit with lots of farm-to-table food, fun people, free museums, and much more. We'll be back soon and plan to stay again with Elizabeth and Dan!

Looking forward to warmer weather and breakfasts on the back porch!

  • Elizabeth and Dan's home is just gorgeous. The architecture and decor are lovely in a prime walking location to downtown Raleigh. The bedroom and bathroom are spotless and stocked with beautiful fresh towels and linens. Elizabeth made us a delicious breakfast of eggs, grits and sausage (and it was HER birthday!) and pancakes from scratch on Sunday. Elizabeth is very knowledgable about the area and gave us lots of great information and suggestions. We would stay here again for sure! Oh, and the value, you can't beat it! Thanks so much for your warm hospitality Dan and Elizabeth!
