Charismatic top-floor apartment in central Reykjavik. Quiet and nice surroundings, GREAT VIEW, featured in local HOME & DESIGN magazine in 2011. ***** (FIVE STAR) reviews by all guests so far.
Stay CENTRAL, great location in the heart of Reykjavik and only a few minutes walk from downtown and many of Reykjavik's landmarks, museums, theatres and restaurants.
Stay near the charismatic OLD HARBOR area, with view over the city on one side and the harbour and the Esja, Reykjavik's landmark mountain, on the other. In the old-harbor area (some 5-7 minutes walk away) you will find great sea-food restaurants, café's, galleries and art shops.
Enjoy free private parking, charming apartment with it's VAULTED ceilings, 2x balconies (rather small, but nice and floored with artificial grass), music collection, books - and great view.
The apartment is located in Reykjavik's city central postal area code of 101.
The apartment is approximately 100 square meters, has vaulted ceilings and is on the top floor of 3 story house. It consists of 3 bedrooms, large living room, a kitchen and toilet (with bath and shower facilities). As a small bonus, there isa long but small secret room (perfect for kids). In the basement you'll find a washing room.
The apartment's interior is furnished with a mix of modern and vintage, creating a comfortable and nice atmosphere. The interior of the apartment was featured in the local Home&Design magazine (cover story) in September 2011.
FRESH AND CLEAN - TOWELS AND MORE
You will of course be provided with;
- clean sheets and linens for the beds (and living room sleeping couch if requested)
- clean towels and bath cloths
The apartment will be clean and fresh when you arrive. My hope is that you'll return it in the same shape.
- Master bedroom: Double bed (that can be separated and made into two singles) that fits two adults perfectly.
- 2nd bedroom: Single bed, that can easily be made into a double bed to fit two adults.
- 3rd bedroom: This one is really small and only fits children in terms of sleeping. But the room is good to store luggage etc.
- Living room: Sleeping couch in TV corner of living room can be rolled out to fit two adults
- Secret room: Long but narrow room under the ceiling, fit for kids only - who often find it exciting to sleep there.
The apartment should work perfectly for 2-4 adults and 1-3 kids. However, as you can see on the listing above there is room for more people.
THE APARTMENT CONSISTS OF....

Interaction with Guests
If you have any questions regarding the apartment or Reykjavik do not hesitate do get in touch.
I like communicating via the Air BnB messaging system and e-mail, but can also be reached via SMS and my mobile. I'm usually present to welcome guests when they arrive, but in case I'm not around I will make sure you get your keys (two sets) securely and without an effort (I have a good system in place).
- 10 minute walk to the city's best restaurants, bars, the National theatre and the Harpa music hall
- 10 min walk to the main city centre (Alþingi parliament house, City hall)
- Two grocery shops in 5 minute walking distance, one is open 24 hours
Despite being located close to Reykjavik's heartbeat - its culture, entertainment & attractions (restaurants, museums, bars, galleries, markets and shopings streets) - the apartment is located in a RESIDENTIAL AREA that is both quiet and save. In the area you will find playgrounds and some public parks.
The neighbourhood is the older western part of Reykjavik's city centre (Vesturbær), sometime referred to as "gamli Vesturbær" (old western town). Postal area is 101 representing Reykjavik's central area.
This part of Reykjavik is one of its' most intriguing areas. This is where many of Iceland's leading artists live (and also a good number of politicians and diplomats). It also houses many of the city's international embassies (including the French, Russian and Canadian) - and in recent years some guest-houses and smaller boutique hotels have started to emerge here.
From the harbor area (5-10 minute walk) you can take the ferry to Viðey island (just outside of Reykjavik in Faxaflói bay) and catch whale watching tours and other of the city's best sightseeing trips by boat.
The street consists almost entirely of residential apartments and houses. So you can stay central, but enjoy quiet surroundings in a great neighbourhood. There is free parking at the back of the house.
Near the street you'll also find the Pétursbúð local grocery shop (open daily from 11:00-23:30). Elsewhere in the neighborhood you will find a supermarket which is open 24/7. In the apartment HOUSE MANUAL I list more services you might find useful, and you'll find around our place.

This home was perfect for our two days in Reykjavik. Randver's home is just a very short walk from restaurants and other attractions in the city, while set away enough to be quiet.
The word we used the most while staying here was "cozy." The apartment is decorated beautifully with wonderful lighting. Splitting the beds in the master bedroom accommodated our group perfectly. The dual balconies, while small, allowed us views of the city and the harbor. Kitchen had everything we needed, too!
This is just the perfect home for your stay in Reykjavik. I couldn't recommend it enough. It was lovely.
Thanks a lot for the nice stay in your apartment. Everything was very well prepared and the information provided really useful. We would defenitly recommend it to somebody else and of course we are looking forward to visit Iceland again.
Thanks a lot!!!
Greetings from Berlin,
This apartment was absolutely amazing. The view of the harbor was stunning, the location was excellent, and Randver was easy-to-reach, friendly, and helpful.
Me and my family LOVED staying at Randver's place during our stay in Iceland. He provided us with all the information we would need and more and stayed in touch throughout our time there to check that everything was ok. The apartment was in a beautiful quiet neighbourhood in downtown, yet so close to everything that you would wish to do in Reykjavik. It was spacious and beautifully designed; a perfect chill out spot after our long days out on the road. When we come back again to Iceland we would love to stay at Randver's place again if it is available.
We had a fantastic stay with Randver in Reykjavik. The apartment is extremely well located with museums nearby and downtown just minutes away. We stayed as two couples, but this would be a great apartment for families. Randver and his family actually live here normally, so it's great to be in a real home that's warm and feels homely. The beds were comfortable and there was loads of space in the apartment. We felt very welcome and our host was able to help us with queries or offer some suggestions for the city. If we go back to Reykjavik, I think we'll stay here again! Would recommend :)
Randver's apartment was immaculately prepared for our stay. It was super cozy and had us feeling right at home in Reykjavik. The decor was wonderful as well. Thanks so much, Randver! Wish you and your family all the best.
This is a lovely. LOVELY, apartment. Perfect for a family with one/two kids interested in getting to know Reyjkavic. It is beautifully decorated in mid-century modern tones, complete with stylish vintage touches. The location is superb, 3 minutes from the harbor, 10 minutes from the city center, 2 minutes from the 14 bus, with views in all directions. It feels like home. The owners are extremely attentive and responsive to all queries and embody the very appealing way Icelanders have of making visitors to their country not feel like intruders or even irritating tourists. We would (and will) recommend this apartment to anyone.
I like to travel and spend time with friends and family. I love good food, books and good music - and my apartment has a good selection of Icelandic music (and from other parts of the world) on vinyl and CDs. I also very much like Reykjavik and have some tips of good places for you to visit and experience in the city.
