If you have any questions regarding the apartment or Reykjavik do not hesitate do get in touch. I like communicating via the Air BnB messaging system and e-mail, but you can also reach me via SMS and my mobile. I'm almost aleays present to welcome guests when they arrive, but in case I'm not around I will make sure you get your keys (two sets) securely and without an effort (I have a good system in place).

Despite being located close to Reykjavik's heartbeat - its culture, entertainment & attractions (restaurants, museums, bars, galleries, markets and shopings streets) - the apartment is located in a RESIDENTIAL AREA that is both quiet and save. In the area you will find playgrounds and some public parks.
The neighbourhood is the older western part of Reykjavik's city centre (Vesturbær), sometime referred to as "gamli Vesturbær" (old western town). Postal area is 101 representing Reykjavik's central area.
This part of Reykjavik is one of its' most intriguing areas. This is where many of Iceland's leading artists live (and also a good number of politicians and diplomats). It also houses many of the city's international embassies (including the French, Russian and Canadian) - and in recent years some guest-houses and smaller boutique hotels have started to emerge here.
From the harbor area (5-10 minute walk) you can take the ferry to Viðey island (just outside of Reykjavik in Faxaflói bay) and catch whale watching tours and other of the city's best sightseeing trips by boat.
The street consists almost entirely of residential apartments and houses. So you can stay central, but enjoy quiet surroundings in a great neighbourhood. There is free parking at the back of the house.
Near the street you'll also find the Pétursbúð local grocery shop (open daily from 11:00-23:30). Elsewhere in the neighborhood you will find a supermarket which is open 24/7. In the apartment HOUSE MANUAL I list more services you might find useful, and you'll find around our place.
