About this listing
Skylights and sliding glass doors fill the room with light all thorough the day. Additional single bed and closet behind the curtain.
Flexible check in and out.
The bed is a double bed with an incredible organic mattress which is a combination of coils with memory foam toped with wool padding and wrapped in bamboo fabric. It is a firm mattress with great support. There is a second single bed tucked under the eves as is in the current pictures. It disappears from view when it is not in use.
The house is located on Euclid Avenue - the downtown edge of the Trinity Bellwoods neighbourhood - a lushly treed area that is a brief walk from the centre of the city. No need to have a car here.
The house is one of the older homes on the street - originally a store in the middle of a residential block. Built on the orchard lands of the old Gorevale estate, it is now situated right in the middle of the most popular and hip neighbourhoods of Toronto: West Queen Street West, Little Italy, Ossington, Kensington Market, Chinatown and Dundas to name a few.
The room is on the third floor. The whole floor is 400 feet of open concept over looking the living room below. At one end by the living room is my own private spa. here there is a wonderful desk under the skylight with a view of the CN tower where you can work. On the other side of the partition is your large bedroom. At the far end a single bed is tucked under the eve which opens up to the whole room and the view through the sliding glass doors. the comfortable double bed is tucked into an alcove. There are built in shelves and a closet for your clothes.
On the second floor is a new spa washroom - for use by all the guests - curved walls; open spaces; cathedral ceilings; custom mahogany built ins; and a large deck among other features. The living room, dining area, kitchen and deck are common areas for guests.
Public transit is only steps away, but you will be able to walk to most places. It would take you months to try all the restaurants which are a short walk away. There is internet access. Air conditioning when needed. We tend to be fairly quiet.
My son and I live downstairs and we are not partiers. We are looking for mutual respect. The rules are being developed as experience proves the need for them. Please excuse me for stating things which should be common sense.
* Please keep your belongings in your room including your bathroom toiletries.
* Shoes at the front door.
* The bathroom is predominately used by yourself and other guests. If you need the bathroom at specific times - i.e. early morning so you can be off to work - please tell me so I can inform the other guests.
* There are hooks in your room for your towel. Please use them and try not to use too many towels.
* We try to be quiet after 10:00 pm to allow people to sleep.
* No pets.
* No outside guests in the house after 10:00 pm. Outside guests are only allowed on the second floor and front hallway. Please keep me informed about who might be visiting you.
* People who are not registered as guests are not allowed to stay overnight unless it is discussed with me. Noncompliance with this rule will result in additional charges and possibly the termination of your stay.
* Do not bring people to the house to engage in sex. It is not comfortable for me or the other guests and will result in the termination of your stay.

Caroline was an excellent host! Really warm and welcoming, and happy to share her knowledge of the city. The location of this apartment is perfect if you are looking to explore West Toronto and many great food options. Special thanks to Caroline for all her help as we prepare to move to Toronto!
Caroline was very welcoming. The room was clean, shared bathroom was impeccable and the home was always quiet and peaceful.
The host provided a lot of info about transportation beforehand, and she gave us great advice about activities, travel, etc. in Toronto once we arrived. Caroline is very accustomed to hosting international guests and making them feel at home. The house is quite comfortable, well-decorated, and functional, and the neighborhood is quiet, residential, and very close to streets (particularly Queen West) that are major shopping and restaurant hubs. We had plenty of space to spread out in our upstairs loft room. The beds were comfy, too.
Before you knock on the front door, get out your notepad and pen--I mean this in all seriousness. Caroline will have so many good and helpful ideas of places for you to go and things for you to see...right from the get-go...that you will want a pad and paper. Please understand and respect that you will share a home with others and, in her home, sound does carry. That is what the "no-shoe" policy is all about. If you want all the so-called-amenities of a hotel, book a hotel. On the other hand, if you want a comfortable, welcoming and homey base from which to explore a vibrant and diverse city, this is a great option for you. My daughter, son and I are unanimous in our opinion that Caroline's place was the right choice for us. We had a lovely time and our beds were nice and comfortable. The shared bathroom is clean, and the wifi is reliable. You will have access to a kitchen where you may prepare meals or warm up restaurant leftovers if you wish. The decor is lovely: Caroline has all sorts of interesting antiques, books, and finds on display--including her famous array of hats. We were out exploring so much of the time that our paths did not cross too often, but Caroline was pleasant and helpful whenever we did actually see her. We would like to say a big "thank you" for the hospitality.
I enjoyed my time at Caroline's place a lot. Everything corresponded to the description; the room was clean, tidy, and extremely welcoming and comfortable. There was a space to work, which was great. The shared spaces (bathroom, kitchen, patio) were clean and welcoming. Caroline provides a warm welcome, introduction, and orientation. It is a very respectful, open place that is in a safe, green neighborhood that is quiet and yet close to all hip areas in Toronto. Highly recommended for both lone travelers or couples. Thank you so much again, Caroline!
Caroline was very welcoming. At my arrival she not only showed me the house but also recommended places to visit. During my stay she also pointed out if there are any events in town and how to get there.
I contacted her the day before I planned to move in and she arranged a room for me on short notice.
It is not apparent from the outside but the residence is actually very beautiful inside. The Bed was confortable, the rooms are clean, the washingroom is big just like the shower.
I can also recommend her bookshelfs to any visitor. I myself found a book I was planning to read and finally had the opportunity to start.
Overall my stay authentic and very pleasant.
Caroline was a wonderful host. She was full of very helpful information on how to get around town and where to find anything I needed/wanted. The room (3rd floor) was spotless and the bed was incredibly comfortable. You can hear what goes on in the 2nd floor, since it's an open space, but noise is minimal. The bathroom was also kept spotless, as was the kitchen I had full access to and use of.
The location was perfect for me, in a quiet area and within walking distance to food, 7-11 (for the ATM and TTC tokens) and transportation. The street car is half a block ahead, cab drivers drink coffee at the cafe at the corner and will happily take you anywhere, and, again, there are plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance.
I would absolutely recommend this location. Caroline and her son were a pleasure to meet and stay with.

About the Host, Caroline
My teenage son and I live in downtown Toronto in a state of frugal luxury. I walk almost everywhere. He draws, works on the computer, wonders about ethics, and makes dry, wry comments when the mood hits him. He, and others, think that I am eccentric. To pin it down more distinctly, he describes it as me being very European. Luckily, he yearns to live in Europe. I am an autodidact, read a fair amount, and think copiously. My sense of humour seems to be in the ear of the beholder. Some people think that I am outrageously funny and start laughing before I even open my mouth. Others believe that I am the most serious person they meet. Frequently this split of opinion can happen within the same room.
Of course, we are kind... and helpful... and sincere... and everything else a heart and someone looking for a place to stay could desire. We are not partiers. Nor do we smoke or drink excessively.
