Our house is in South Africa, Gauteng and we have two spare rooms available, each with a double bed. The two rooms share a private bathroom with a shower and a bath. Bedding will be provided. Guests may use the kitchen, which is fully equiped. A swimming pool on the property is avialable. The house is secured with a wall and an automated electric gate.
If required, we can assist in providing transport at reasonable rates. Guidance regarding tourist attractions can also be given. A traditional South African "braai" can be provided on request.
The house is situated in a quiet, well established neighbourhood. There are restaurants and shops within a 1 km radius. The house is within 10 km from tourist attractions and nature reserves in Pretoria. Lion parks, where lions and other wild animals can be viewed and cubs can be petted are less than one hours drive away.
Johannesburg and Soweto, where the Nelson Mandela museum can be visited, are also within an hours drive.
A bus stop for the Gautrain is within walking distance from the house. The Gautrain can be used to reach Pretoria city centre, Johannesburg and Johannesburg International Airport.
This is a private home and not a b&b. Visitors can experience a true South African holiday. Although close to shops, restaurants and other attractions, it does not have a "city-like" feel.
Smoking is not allowed in the house.
Quiet atmosphere required.
I was welcomed with open arms! Very nice to sit in the garden and chat over a cup of tea. Dirk and his wife were very friendly and really wanted me to feel welcomed.
Tanks for the advises and all!
The reservation was canceled 18 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Truly exceptional local experience. I expected a safe, quiet place to stay. That expectation was more than met. The Grobler's were tremendously hospitable, and the stay ended up being the highlight of my visit to Joburg and Pretoria.
I enjoyed my home stay with Dirk and Rika. They were hospitable and helpful in many ways. If you don have transport, the shops are only a kilometer away. Dirk is also helpful with lifts from time to time.
The room was comfortable, the shower great! Wi Fi works and overall the accommodation is very reasonable for home stay, If you the kind of person who likes to mingle with locals, share a BBQ that kind of thing, you will have a pleasant stay at Dirks place. If the opportunity arises I will be happy to stay there again for few days.
I am recently retired and enjoy meeting new people. My wife is a Mathematics teacher in secondary education.
I learnt about airbnb during my last tour to Eorope and was immensely impressed. It is so easy to plan your whole holiday.
I have a drivers licence and own a vehicle, and can therefore at times provide transport to guests if requested.
I love cycling with my mountain bike in nature. My favourite meal is a South African "braai" in our garden. I love the South African weather with all the sunshine. My favourite travel destination is in nature: green with lakes and mountains, or dry and desert such as our neighbouring country Namibia offers.
I like and respect all people. You will have privacy if preferred, or I can bore you with my endless stories (my wife always complains:)). I would love to receive you as a visitor in my house.
