The house was under renovation when we stayed which was not conveyed to us when we booked. The house, while beautiful with much potential, and close to areas of town we wanted to visit, is in overall poor condition. The paint is uneven and peeling, the windows and shutters are dirty and sticky. Room 5 doesn't have a real door but glass french doors covered by a thin, pink curtain so it never gets fully dark in the room. The carpet in the main areas and in our room was stained and in poor condition. We didn't feel comfortable taking our shoes off, even when coming to and from the shower. The bathroom is on a different floor which was not convenient when my son needed to use it in the middle of the night, and the guests in the room next to the bathroom said they could hear everything. The accommodation had a dingy hostel feel.
We met the host briefly when we checked in but she was not around for the duration of our stay. There are stern notes placed throughout the house that make you feel like it is a place where rules are broken, not where people come to enjoy a holiday. There were many workmen coming in and out of the building and it felt quite crowded and loud, especially as our 6 year old was trying to nap. As we were leaving on our final day, two sets of guests including a family with two small children, came to the door and we were the only ones at the house to let them in. None of the rooms were made up.
Linda was easy to get a hold of and talk to. We ended up getting into to Toronto fairly late because of a bad traffic back up on the freeway and so I called to let her know we would arrive late, she answered her phone quickly and when we later had to communicate through text or airbnb messages she was also quick to respond.
The location was good for exploring the city. It wasn't the nicest area in the city but it wasn't bad. We were able to walk and/or use the bike share program to get around quickly and affordably leaving our car parked in front of the place with the 24 hour permit. The caretaker was very helpful in getting all of that worked out.
The room was clean and enough space for our party of 3 to sleep in comfortably. The only complaint I have is that the door for this room is glass (with curtains for privacy) and is raised a little above the floor so it was a bit loud at times because of the other guests in the house.
Bien placé mais accueillis par une femme de ménage et non par la gérante, donc c'était quasiment impossible d'avoir des informations sur les choses à faire à Toronto et évidemment pas de carte de la ville pour s'orienter.
The house is not far from the center of the city, which was very nice. The clean room had three beds, we could use the fridge and kitchen. We broke the key for our room, but help got there fast, despite the time of the accident (around 10pm).
Linda had an amazing place. The other guests were quiet and polite and we were greeted by a very friendly woman. Everything was clean and station and I would 100% again!
