1. Please keep our boat smoke free! You may smoke on the outside decks, but please don't throw your butts into the ocean - use an ashtray!
2. Please only use single-ply toilet tissue in the toilets - they work a lot differently than household toilets and can easily get blocked with unpleasant and embarrassing consequences.
One of the best experiences I had staying in Hong Kong. The hosts are very helpful, and the boat feels like home.
The boat was amazing The beds in the forward cabin were very comfortable. The kitchen and living room were great. The decks and outside spaces were lovely. We were rocked by the water while listening to John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman. Transportation to the boat by sampan was challenging at first but ok once we got use to it. It is essential to be have a HK SIM card to call for a sampan especially at night. Unfortunately there are no places to eat that we could find near the Abeerden Boat Club. We had to the market section of Abeerdeen to find restaurants and getting there and to the boat by sampan was more difficult. There was a 7-11 and a food mart nearby. Getting a bus to Central HK was easy and convenient All in all we loved our time on the boat-the challenges were very manageable
Nigel was prompt in communicating with me, and let me know that his daughter would be available as he was out of town. Getting to the boat was a little complicated, but once we did arrive it was lovely. I echo earlier guests in saying that it would be great to grocery shop before you go as getting on and off the boat takes time. Once you're there it's really nice to be able to stay and relax. At the time we stayed the internet was not working, so we ended up having to leave quite often to check e-mail and make plans. There is a free-wifi kiosk in walking distance from the drop off point (near the jumbo ferry pier).
I found my stay on WN quite relaxing. My advice to future guests: a) buy a gallon of water and basic groceries in advance to bring on the boat. There's a small supermarket called Fusion to the east of ABC where you can pick things up. b) the room is cozy. The beds are comfortable and you can sit up and read, but there's only s really tanding room for one person. c) if somebody rented out the main cabin, you are sharing an intimate space indoors, but there's plenty of room to spread out on deck. I actually recommend renting both rooms if you're in a group, then you get the whole boat to yourself.
Such a cool Airbnb! Surprisingly easy to get to and get around. Very peaceful to come back to a boat at the end of the day. The harbour is well protected so even when it's raining, the boat doesn't rock much.
This was the perfect getaway from our busy schedule in our China round trip! Peaceful bay, beautiful mornings! The boat is clean and comfortable (the beds are actually bigger than they look in the picture), a sampan was always available. We would (and hopefully will) definitely choose WN again!
Although I did not have the pleasure of meeting the host, his helpers helped me checked in flawlessly. The boat is in wonderful condition, spacious, and with a lot amenities to entertain my mind. Highly recommended!

About the Host, Nigel & Lani
Hi I'm Nigel Ford, the co-Founder, of Sun Xi Mountain Retreat with Lailani Ybas. I am a British citizen that has been living and working continuously in Asia since 1982. A Treasury Trade & Risk Manager by profession, I have worked for a number of Financial Services companies such as HSBC, ABN-Amro Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, Thomson Reuters, Misys, Sophis, Calypso & to date SimCorp. My permanent resident home in Asia is Hong Kong.
In 2006 I established a family business - Sun Xi Ventures Co. Ltd with my partner Lailani, my son Timothy and daughter Natasha - to manage our collective assets, interests and passions IN, ON, UNDER, AROUND the SOUTH CHINA SEA.
IOU A SOUTH CHINA SEA encompassed our own lifestyles of swimming, sailing, diving, fishing, walking, driving, flying, farming, living, working and playing - as well as of course our friends, extended family and contacts both social and business related - and we termed this a SUN XI LIFESTYLE and we set about to build a number of ventures around the SUN XI brand.
We started out with Sun Xi Marine, a sea based sail/dive vacation/training/charter business which currently has 3 yachts, namely "Sun Xi", "RJM" and "What's Next?" available for live-aboard.
Sun Xi Mountain Retreat is a socio/eco-tourism project that started in 2006 - up in the cool mountain village of Lepanto, Alegria, Cebu, Philippines - and is ongoing. The concept is to nurture and develop the existing beautiful and rich natural resources of the local people, flora and fauna in their own environment, and allow the visitor a unique opportunity of experiencing this in accustomed comfort, peace and security.
Your stay at Sun Xi Mountain Retreat, whether for a few hours, days or weeks, will undoubtedly enrich your lives and others.
The ambience of Sun Xi Mountain Retreat is akin to "Glamping" or "Glamorous Camping". In every guest room 24 hour electricity and room service, luxuriously appointed comfort rooms with hot showers, LCD/Plasma television, DVD, in-house movies, wireless (complimentary) internet access, bathrobes, non-smoking rooms, mini-bar, coffee/tea maker - are just some of the facilities at your disposal. Outside the grounds of Sun Xi Mountain Retreat, the lands are how they have been for hundreds and hundreds of years - nature on your doorstep. Throughout the day you can enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the gardens, surrounding farm-lands and magnificent 360 "heaven on earth" scenery. Have a massage, read a book (or 2 or 3), listen to music, write a song, paint a picture, bird-watch, weather-watch, star-gaze.
If you like to "do stuff" as part of your vacation, you are most welcome to join the project with some farming, gardening, animal husbandry, constructing, landscaping, teaching at the local elementary school. We can accommodate school, religious or charity groups.
Or if you are the more active adventurous type, then hill-walking, mountain-biking and caving are just some of the activities we can readily accommodate on premises. Surrounding Sun Xi Mountain Retreat are literally thousands of hectares of natural scarpland providing endless adventure activities for walkers, bikers, cavers, hand-gliders, golfers, fishing and canoeing at Lumpan Lake, climbing and absailing waterfalls, bathing in thermal hot-springs. The list is endless.
In the past few months we have established Sun Xi Beach Club - also in Alegria, Cebu.
SUN XI - Relax. Rejuvenate. Recreate.
