  • After spending a month in and near Guiones, it was nice to settle in at Nosara Retreat for a few days. It's quiet and secluded with plenty of amenities. You are just a quick walk from Playa Pelada, which is a much calmer section of beach than Guiones with wonderful tide pools at low tide. It's a quick 10 minute walk to La Luna. It's 30-45 minute walk or quick and cheap tuk tuk ride back to Guiones.

Nosara Retreat offers a ton of amenities that I didn't even use this time around, but will hopefully in the future (e.g. yoga pavilion). The staff is friendly and courteous, and the breakfast is fresh. There are plenty of hammocks for just lying around, and plenty of space to wander the property.

It should be stated that this is in not luxury. The accommodations are basic but well worth the price you're paying.

  • Lovely jungle experience on the beach! Just under an hour beautiful beach walk to Guionnes, really recommended first thing and watch the sunset at Olga's just 10 mins along the beach.
My room was clean, not lots of natural light but I had my own kitchen and hammock on the deck which was really nice.
Theresa and Mandy were a great source of info and really friendly and yoga on the platform was perfect :)

  • Our place at The Nosara Retreat was amazing. So close to the beach, fantastic zone to relax in a hammock and read a book. A 20min walk along the beach to Guiones (restaurants, surf) was lovely everyday. Deborah, Theresa and Mandy all made our stay very enjoyable and easy calling tuktuks, set up a visit to SIBU (great monkey rescue), scheduled shuttles to and from the airport. It (email hidden) up in the trees, howler monkeys right off the deck. Paradise.

  • A perfect Costa Rica retreat. Our time here was tranquil and fabulous. Deborah was an amazing hostess and made us feel welcome and at home. Gave us great information and helped us enjoy the area. Marick was great to chat with and treated us to fresh fruit liquados every morning with breakfast. Specially made Hot Coco for my daughter. The room was clean, tropical and just our style. The outdoor kitchen was great! Just steps to the beach it was perfect for our 5 year old. We went horseback riding, river tour, a yoga teacher came to the B&B a gave a great class one morning. We had a troop of howler monkeys visit in the morning and Humming birds too! Highly Recommend!

  • There is truly something magical about Nosara Retreat. My partner and I stayed at the retreat on our first trip to Costa Rica for what intended to just be a week and a half before moving along to the next town, but after checking in to our next destination we found ourselves missing Nosara retreat, the beach, and the people there so much that we ended our stay early so we could return for another week. Deborah and the staff were so lovely and warm and welcoming that after a week we felt like family. Having morning breakfast of fresh fruit juice and toast gave our stay a nice sense of community with the other guests. Everyone was so helpful in helping us get around and giving us suggestions of where to go in Guiones. Our room was spacious and clean and safe and had a beautiful outdoor kitchen area that was well equipped that I loved cooking in daily. The grounds were fun to explore and were very close to the beach and had a beautiful big yoga pavilion that I definitely wish I had spent more time in. My partner and I are young and fairly active and easily made the 20 minute or so walk into Guiones for groceries almost daily, which never felt that far as we walked along the beach which was beautiful and scenic and filled with friendly faces. Since leaving the town of Nosara and Nosara Retreat I'm already missing it once again and can't wait for the next time I'm in Costa Rica to return. Nosara Retreat feels like a home away from home and the next time we visit we'll be sure to stay even longer.

  • Deborah is an absolutely wonderful person. She did her best to ensure I was comfortable, gave me tips on where to eat, where to go and was just a pleasure to talk to.
The room is nice, clean, well ventilated, and has some hammocks outside where you can relax reading a book or just listening to the delicious sounds of the jungle.

  • The Nosara Retreat is absolutely stunning, however it is truly Deborah and Theresa who made the experience indelible! Their incredible kindness brought joy to my stay in the Star Fruit Room. Deborah and Theresa are knowledgable of the area and recommended a slew of exciting activities to take part in. We especially had a lot of laughs in a belly dancing class we took on site at the Nosara Retreat together. 10/10 would do it again!

Hope to see you again, pura vida!

I came to Costa Rica in 1989 and fell in love with Playa Pelada, the people and the country. The houses we had built over the years served as a retreat for my extended family. For years, we all came together during the Christmas holidays. Inspired by the vibrant tropical colors and beauty of people and local scenes, I painted pictures for each room. In 1994 I started a B&B on the property and a year later, moved here permanently. My dream for many years was to have a healing center. Recently we began hosting retreats. It is my joy to share this healing paradise with you. Deborah
