I stayed at Samantha's flat for 5nights. I arrived two hours after making a reservation and the room was perfectly clean, warm and cozy, with a private bathroom and great bath tub. On the second day Samantha informed me that there is a cleaning lady coming to the flat to clean my …

Ania, apologies for the issue with the cleaner! I had no idea, you should of said. But this needs a more detailed explanation. If you recall you made a very last minute booking, arriving with only 2 hours notice quite late in the day. When the booking came through, this meant that I had to rush back home with minutes to spare to clean and prepare the room the best I could before you then arrived. What you aren't aware of and I'll explain here is that I have a very bad lower back problem, I suffered a severe back injury when I was kicked by a horse when young which means that I can't do too much cleaning for any length of time without suffering severe pain. Along with many other things I can't do as a result. This is a very serious issue for me. As such I do what I can and have a Cleaning Company come and do the hard stuff every 2 weeks for many hours to ensure the entire flat is well cleaned. Both for myself and Guests. That room needed vacuuming and mopping as I wanted it cleaned thoroughly not only for your comfort and stay, but also because of my back issues. I did tell you that the cleaner was due to come the next day after your last minute booking, because my cleaning company come every 2 weeks and this had been arranged long before you had even booked the room. The few Guests that are around at 1pm when the cleaner comes have no issue with it as it is for their COMFORT and the cleaner is in there for only 30 minutes in the middle of the day. Most Guests are out and busy so it's never been an issue for anyone before. I thought you understood that and left the flat for the day (this was after all at 1pm!) But then strangely, within minutes, you returned to announce you were instead going to have a bath. And I DID tell the cleaner not to do your room whilst you were in it. What I wasn't aware of is that it seems her English was not sufficiently good enough to understand me. She nodded her understanding and said Yes so I thought she knew what I said. You didn't mention this incident to me when I got back at all, as I would of been mortified that this happened. And yes Ania, a light bulb blew in the kitchen so I told you that I went into the room (I never touch Guests items) to get the ONLY stool in the flat which is the best height to stand on to change the light bulb, so to put your mind at rest I explained to you that the reason the stool wasn't in your room was because I needed to use it! Yes Ania, sorry but I do have to wash clothes and linen. Especially after my Cleaner has been as I need to obviously clean towels, clothes and the linen especially in preparation for your needs and any following Guests. This is normal to use the washing machine in the day time. As regards the heating, as I've said numerous times to Guests, London temps are very variable. One day can be very cold the next warmer and I didn't 'not put on the heating in your room', it's centrally heated and comes on everywhere in the flat, like most UK homes, the heating is on a timer, going on during the morning and late afternoon/evening. I don't generally have it on overnight as there are warm 10+ tog duvets to sleep under. But if Guests feel they are too cold at a specific time when they get back in the middle of the day or similar, then all they have to do is ask about the heating and I'll happily change the settings to suit their specific needs or show them exactly how to turn it on and manage it. The essence of Airbnb with Hosts and Guests is COMMUNICATION. Consider communicating your needs next time. :-)

Samantha was a very accommodating host and made it easy for me to come and go as I needed. She keeps check in and out simple and efficient, and even provided an adapter which I forgot. Disaster averted thanks to her kindness!

Samantha made me feel welcome throughout my time in London - she was not able to meet me upon arrival but left clear instructions and there were no problems. The room is small if you've got a lot of luggage but is totally manageable. The ensuite bathroom is a nice touch. You can …
