Welcome to our idyllic farmhouse on beautiful Kveøya, Kvæfjord. «Magnusheim» (meaning home of Magnus) is originally from 1850 and much of the house is kept in its original style. Situated close to the sea and the mountains, the area offers loads of possible excursions. During winter you might see the northern lights just outside the door. And after a day out, you can enjoy your coffee watching the amazing scenes of the gateway to the famous Lofoten and Vesterålen area.
The space
Ground floor: kitchen, livingroom, bathroom and a bedroom with bunk beds. Fully equiped with beddings, towels and basic groceries.
Top floor: main bedroom with double bed. There is also a single bed in the stairwell. (The stairs to the second floor are steep and might the challanging for the elderly).
You will find five sleeping places in the house, which is perfect for families with children. If you are five adults the house might feel a bit small.
In the basement you can do your laundry during longer stays.
Outdoor area with benches and a barbeque.
Guest access
You arrive at Kveøya with a 30 minute drive from Harstad. 15 minutes in the other direction is the Refsnes ferry with connection to Lofoten/Vesterålen. From Harstad/Narvik Evenes airport approx 1 hour. The closest grocery store is at Borkenes, 15 min drive from the house. The bus connections are poor, but we may pick you up if you use public transportation. This needs to be arranged well ahead.
Other things to note
On the farm 300 meters away, Marte and Asgeir produce local food for sale, both vegetables, meat and eggs. You can order from us before or during your stay - ask us to see our current selection and prices.
In the winter we have snow shoes for lend. Right outside the door you find safe and easy hikes. If you like more challenging terrain you find that on Hinnøya, just a short drive or bike ride away. Daytrips to Lofoten and Vesterålen is also possible with the ferry from Refnes.

Kveøya Island is located in the middle of the municipality of Kvæfjord, which is famous as a big agricultural region. The island has a little more than 100 inhabitants and multiple active farms. In the summer you might observe the farmwork close by on the surrounding grass fields. Except from some tractors, the area is very peaceful. The island has a bridge connection and Magnusheim is the first house you will arrive to when you cross the bridge.
You can do a nice stroll along the streets, or explore the sea shore just a few hundred meters from the house. There are also friendly forest trails towards the top of the island.
With a short car or bicycle ride you can get to the beautiful beach at Øynes, almost on the tip of the island. By crossing back over the bridge, you get access to more challenging hikes, and also mountain lakes for trout fishing.
