The Space

The tipi is situated on its own private terrace on an organic eco farm close to Orgiva in the beautiful region known as La Alpujarra in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains south from Granada. It is available from May through October.

It is surrounded by fruit trees, lemon, orange, almond, mulberry and olive and loquat (help yourself) and has fabulous views of the mountains and overlooks the rio Chico.
It is equipped with mattresses and bedding inside, and outside is a small kitchen area with a gas hob, pots and pans, and a cool box with ice packs are provided daily. There is a cold water tap and a shower, but not too cold in the summer months. Hammocks hang in the shade of the trees to relax in. It has its own compost loo on the terrace below. A chlorine free pool is also available.

Orgiva is a pleasant 20min walk away, with plenty of shops, restaurants etc. and a local market on Thursdays. There is a good bus service from Granada to Orgiva and there is a daily bus from Malaga to Orgiva which leaves at 3.00pm from Malaga bus station. I can meet buses by prior arrangement (5€) . There is also free parking space at the bottom of the hill from the tipi.

Buses go from Orgiva up to the beautiful white villages in the high mountain, with walks to rivers with pools and waterfalls amongst stunning scenery.

I have lived here for many years and know the area intimately, I have also lived in the tipi and love lying in bed looking at the stars through the smoke flaps, and love being so close to mother nature and the earth.

  • Wow! I experienced a truly memorable time camping in Rita's tepee.
Every tree that shaded the tepee bore fruit. Pomegranate, lemon, fig, lime, almond, olive, and FIG were some of the trees growing on this magical land. The tepee was super comfy. You could take your siesta to the sound of mountain goat's neck bells ringing like chymes in the distance. A pure piece of paradise. I hope to visit again soon! Thanks Rita for sharing your oasis.

Whitby Grammar School, North Yorkshire, England.
Farmer/gardener; feng shui practitioner.
I moved to Spain from N Yorkshire with my family in 1983. We bought this farm to raise our children in the nature, growing our own organic veg. rebuilding and restoring in traditional style the old farmhouse and living a very simple life without electricity or T.V! My husband was a craftsman in wood which is reflected in our home. Now my 2 half Spanish grandchildren love to visit and enjoy my farm as their father once did, being in the nature, playing with my 3 dogs and 2 cats, swimming in summer, picking and eating fruit straight from the trees.. I still love gardening, and being outside and walking my dogs . I am also a feng shui practitioner and especially love dowsing. I also like to travel when I can and enjoyed a trip to Thailand this year (2011) where I spent a week on an elephant sanctuary as a volunteer which included feeding and then bathing the elephants in the river! In the past I have been on shamanic journeys to Mexico and Peru. I enjoy meeting people and welcoming fellow travelers and kindred spirits to my home and sharing with them my way of life. I feel I have been very blessed.
