Bonita Domes are sturctures built using Earthbag Technology. The walls are 18" thick (15% cement/85% earth) which provides the thermal mass to keep the buildings cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Principles of dome building=arches, geometry, friction. Elements in building=earth, wind, fire, air. Principles + Elements = Sacred Geometric Earthen Sturctures!!
Come visit our giant sandbox and earthbag sculptures in the desert and experience a sense of comfort, relaxation and rejuvenation. Where the cool winds and starry nights are the best part of the desert magic!!!

This was a truly unique experience, staying in Lisa's sleeping pods with our two boys. We all absolutely loved it and we had a great time at Lisa's place. Lisa welcomed us very friendly and had everything prepared for us. The sleeping pods and the surroundings are designed and build with love to details and are really nice combination of camping in the desert, but still having some amenities. The location is really close to Joshua Tree NP and there is a really nice Cafe close by in Joshua Tree, the Crossroads Cafe - we absolutely loved. Thank you Lisa for letting us stay in your Pods - we'll always have great memories about this stay. Thanks!
This was my fourth time staying at the magically enchanting Bonita Domes, and that fact alone should tell you something! :) It is always an utter joy and rejuvenatory experience returning to dOMe life for a bit, and with the lovely shower pod, outdoor kitchen area, wonderful sunken fire pit and now fully functioning guest toilet, Bonita Domes makes for one of the most accommodating yet unique "glamping" experiences that AirBnB has to offer! I'm already looking forward to my next visit!!
Thanks again, Lisa!! :)
My stay at Bonita Domes was very restful, enjoyable and unique. Sleeping in the 'pod' on the earth/in the earth was very restorative. I was welcomed by the owner and the other guests. There was a spectacular sunrise and the full moon shone in the small window of the pod. The bathroom facilities were clean, close-by and met my needs. It was too windy for a fire at the fire circle, but that looked like a great activity on a calm evening under the stars. I definitely recommend it! Close to National Park and activities in town.
Very nice and clean spot in Joshua Tree Park. Special and cosy! Can make an open fire in the evening. Lisa is very kind.
Bonita Domes is a wonderful place in a magical setting. Lisa was very attentive, yet, allowed us our privacy. The pods are nicely equipped with everything you would need to make a comfortable indoor-outdoor experience. We'll be back!
This is even better than I ever expected. As a typical city girl, I've never liked camping and have just recently started hiking and appreciating nature more. I booked Lisa's beautiful East Pod as soon as I saw the images. As you can see they're very unique and will guarantee you the one-of-the-kind experience you'd want at a place like Joshua Tree. It's all the good parts about camping without all the hassle. And I just loved every bit of it.
The dome itself is beautiful and functional. The extra storage room is enough to store luggage or another person. the windows let in the natural light and kept most of the bugs out. The area is very quiet and surprisingly I got a very well-rested night of sleep here without all the distractions.
It's about a 10 min drive to the main entrance of the national park. Lisa also pointed that there's a back trail that you can take on foot from the dome.
Lisa is very kind and artistic, we really love her spirit. One of the few things to be mindful is that she also live onsite with her family. So please be kind and not blast images of her home on social media. Speaking of her family, her cat Panda, is an extremely friendly kitty. Greet her with a gentle manner she will return the favor.
We will stay at the domes again soon.
Though this was my third stay at the lovely and magical Bonita Domes, each and every time has been an absolute charm, and I'm thrilled to say that I'll be returning once again to introduce some more friends to this wondrously medicinal and peaceful sanctuary in just 10 more days!! :)
I finally got to meet Lisa on this most recent trip (as she was out of town on my previous visits) and in person, she was just as mindful, considerate, informative and kind as I'd come to know her online, and I feel as though we are fast extending our actual families rather than simply our circle of acquaintances or even friends.
All of my various stays at Bonita Domes have been wholly rejuvenating and thoroughly enchanting and I recommend staying there both whole & full heartedly and without reservation, (though you will need a reservation & they fill up quickly) so what are you waiting for, hurry up and go make one for yourself!! :)
