Ocean Front Yurt in Kipahulu, Hana

Yurt - Entire home/apt · Hana Hwy, Hana, HI 96713, United States

The Space

Private Yurt on amazingly beautiful 7 acres ocean front cliff property. Sit on the porch right by the cliff, overlooking the ocean. See and hear whales during whale season. Watch the moon or rainbows on the water. Go on hikes to secluded pools or the ocean shore. Guided horseback tours, Palapala Ho'omau Church (burial place of Charles Lindbergh), and Seven Sacred Pools within easy walking distance. Our Pacific Yurt serves as your queen-size bedroom and comes with the use of a separate, shared bath house and our communal kitchen. (If you prefer a private bathroom, take a look at our Ocean Front House, shown under 'More about the host' on the right). The kitchen is built around 2 trees right by the cliff, overlooking the ocean and offering a view of the big island on clear days. We are in Kipahulu, a mere 30 minute drive from Hana, in East Maui. Our property is on an ocean front cliff with 2 levels of ornamental garden and native jungle. All of our structures were designed to blend into the existing nature to create a harmonious unity. The property operates on solar power and water catchment. While resource conservation is strongly encouraged, we do feature 120V electricity, gas stoves, hot water showers, and triple-filtered drinking water. Our Uma (Hawaiian for ancient mountain goddess who mediates between heaven & earth) serves as a yoga/dance/meditation studio and, with the exception of special events, is open to our guests. If you're looking to get away from it all, to take a break and recharge yourself, look no further. You won't find a more serenely beautiful, contemplative and relaxed setting anywhere on the island.

NOTE: If you are traveling with a baby or a young child we recommend the Ocean Front Chalet.

  • The oceanfront yurt at Halemano was absolute paradise. The property is beautifully maintained, offering tranquility and an abundance of beauty. The hosts were friendly and helpful but non-intrusive. The yurt was super spacious and no mosquitoes! I would most definitely stay here again and again. Bliss....

  • My fiancé and I stayed in the Ocean Front Yurt for two nights. The hosts (Sue and her husband) were very welcoming and respectful during our stay. We felt like we got a true Hawaiian experience at Halemano. This place offers a unique outdoor living experience . We enjoyed exploring the property and meeting the other guests over dinner. The farm grown coffee and fresh baked banana bread down the street was a nice treat before a hike at Seven Sacred Pools. We hope to visit soon again!

  • Magical, perfect, beyond my expectations! I want to live here. Sue and Hamid are wonderful hosts! I adore them both. I will be back again, to drink it the lovely air and sea and hang with my two new friends. This place is for the type of people that love nature and want to get off the tourist track in Maui to experience the raw beauty of the island. Come with a joyful, open relaxed and flexible vibe and you will be just fine. If convenience and sterile environments turn you on, you might want to turn around and head back to the hotels. Respect and nurture the energy that went into creating this place and keep Halemano as a refuge for the seekers out there. It is a special, special place. Enjoy!

  • Our stay at Halemano was amazing! The property is stunning, the hosts were so beautiful and welcoming and we met some amazing fellow travellers. The community in East Maui took us in and made us feel welcome. Truly a magical place, we'll be going back! If you are interested in East Maui - stay at Halemano! Tip: a semi-SUV or FWD is very useful in the jungle.

  • I have never been to Hawaii or ever stayed in a Yurt before, but I can assure you that these two things combined were absolute bliss. We really enjoyed our stay here and it was nice to get away from everything and just enjoy the simple beauty of Hawaii. I would definitely stay again.

  • We were in heaven at Halemano! It was such a peaceful and beautiful environment to partake in - the hosts were fabulous, the groundskeepers were engaging, the other guests were delightful. We established a "family feel" with everyone there in the shared kitchen area during mealtimes which was such an added bonus. This was our favorite place during our 2 weeks in Maui - such a wonderful time and we look forward to coming back here, hopefully soon!

  • We had a fantastic stay in the Ocean Front Yurt. It is an incredibly beautiful spot on the ocean and the grounds have a magical quality to them - it felt enchanted. It is definitely a bit remote and rustic, but that's way we loved it. It was a nice quiet retreat from the busy resorts that fill the rest of Maui. The kitchen has more than enough amenities but make sure you pick up groceries before heading to the Hana area as options are very limited in the area. We brought our toddler with us and it was a great place for him to run around and explore too. The hosts were friendly and helpful. We would definitely visit again.
