We offer a perfect place for travelers wanting an inexpensive alternative to hotels, for visiting grandparents, scholars, business people here for a few days and people transitioning to the Bay Area. Some of our more frequent guests are couples visiting their children and grandchildren in the area.
WE ARE VERY CLOSE TO SF AT MUCH LOWER RENT AND WITH MUCH BETTER WEATHER! NO MORE THAN 30-45 MINUTES DOOR TO DOOR USING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION OR 20 MINUTES BY CAR, DEPENDING ON TRAFFIC.
Although we are here at the same time you are, you will experience complete privacy if that is your pleasure or friendly talk if that is better for you. The house is large enough and the bedrooms far enough apart that we rarely run into each other except intentionally.
Huge bedroom with queen bed and bath en suite. Mounted cable TV, wireless internet, window seat, refrigerator, kettle, kitchen use, washer and dryer use, beautiful garden and occasional living room use. Weekly linen and cleaning included.
We'll put out coffee, juice, fruit, cereal and bread for toasting.
In addition, we can take care of your office needs such as scanning, faxing, and copying.
One very friendly but sometimes shy mid-size dog.
LOCATION: ½ block from beautiful park and garden, 300 yards from Lake Merritt. Short walk to restaurants, theaters, Saturday Farmer's market, Oakland downtown & BART to San Francisco and cities around the bay. Commuter bus or casual carpool to SF 3 blocks away.
If we are available, we'll drive you to Oakland airport when you leave or to the BART to get to SFO.
PARKING: You are welcome to park in our driveway while you are loading and unloading. After that, we can negotiate your ability to share that space. Street parking is difficult but possible. If you are like many of our guests who just park the car and take public transportation for the duration, we will happily put your car in the garage.
Suggestion: There is so much going on here. Go online to Goldstar to get an idea of the 100 or so plays, tours, and other exciting events; all at half price! You can sign up for free. This is a good Eastbay link for 2013:

Normal - no smoking, excessive alcohol or rowdy parties. Strong fragrances linger so we prefer no perfume or strong aftershaves. We clean up all breakfast dishes. Pat and Lynn were very great, interesting and careful host!! Thank you very much for the sweet and comfortable home! Breakfast was wonderful and unexpected complement:) And thank you for helping with our car.
Pat & Lynn's place was as advertised -- a very nice, quiet room with a comfortable bed, couched in a cozy home with a very friendly dog (hi Chloe!) and a fantastic patio in the back. The location was great (blocks from the Lake), our hosts friendly yet unobtrusive. I would return to this location in a heartbeat. Thank you Pat & Lynn!
Pat, Lynn, and Chloe the pup are excellent hosts. They provide a great room with private bathroom, advice about local attractions, and many delicious breakfast options. The Adams Point neighborhood of Oakland is great fun, and this is a wonderful spot from which to explore.
Could not have asked for a better experience. Pat and Lynn have a lovely home in a vibrant and attractive neighborhood, just as their listing states. They were warm and generous hosts, eager to help us enjoy our time in the Bay area. I would happily stay here again.
Pat and Lynn were amazing hosts! We had a great time staying with this lovely couple who ensured that our experience was nothing short of fantastic. We shared wonderful chats over breakfast, and they were warm, friendly and generous. Throughout our 3wks trip traveling around the west coast, Oakland/san Fran was one of our favorite place and we reckon pat n Lynn were part of the reason. Would totally stay over again should we hit up Oakland/san Fran!
We very much enjoyed our stay in Pat and Lynn's home. Lynn was away so Pat was left to take care of us on his own. Well, he did a great job. He provided continental breakfast every morning and allowed us to use the back deck and for a family get together one evening. Very accommodating and laid back. Pat even trusted us to take his little dog Chloe for a walk to the lake one night. You should know that there is a dog in the home and that the neighbor's light shines through the window all night (no big deal, we covered the window with a sheet!)
Pat and Lynn are the superhost. This is our second stay and we really love them and the house with the nice garden and the deck.
Pat is a social man and loves to talk and we love it special our lovely breakfast. Thanks both of you.
The neighbourhood is lovely with very close to Lake Merrit area. Nice restaurants in the neighbourhood. The bus to reach nearest BART station is in next corner it goes every half hour,
We really recommend this place and the nice couple and the dog CLOHE.
Thank you we vill se you again!!!
We are really enjoying being AirBNB hosts. We're kind of naturals at it. Pat is retired and Lynn is still working but in her own business nearby. We love to travel when we can, see friends, attend theater and movies, enjoy our many wonderful Bay Area restaurants, take walks around the neighborhood and with our dog, Chloe. Our kids, Gabriel and Liz are grown. Gabriel and Sarah have been happily married for three years. They're all a big part of our lives.
