We offer a perfect place for travelers wanting an inexpensive alternative to hotels, for visiting grandparents, scholars, business people here for a few days and people transitioning to the Bay Area. Some of our more frequent guests are couples visiting their children and grandchildren in the area.
WE ARE VERY CLOSE TO SF AT MUCH LOWER RENT AND WITH MUCH BETTER WEATHER! NO MORE THAN 30-45 MINUTES DOOR TO DOOR USING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION OR 20 MINUTES BY CAR, DEPENDING ON TRAFFIC.
Although we are here at the same time you are, you will experience complete privacy if that is your pleasure or friendly talk if that is better for you. The house is large enough and the bedrooms far enough apart that we rarely run into each other except intentionally.
Huge bedroom with queen bed and bath en suite. Mounted cable TV, wireless internet, window seat, refrigerator, kettle, kitchen use, washer and dryer use, beautiful garden and occasional living room use. Weekly linen and cleaning included.
We'll put out coffee, juice, fruit, cereal and bread for toasting.
In addition, we can take care of your office needs such as scanning, faxing, and copying.
One very friendly but sometimes shy mid-size dog.
LOCATION: ½ block from beautiful park and garden, 300 yards from Lake Merritt. Short walk to restaurants, theaters, Saturday Farmer's market, Oakland downtown & BART to San Francisco and cities around the bay. Commuter bus or casual carpool to SF 3 blocks away.
If we are available, we'll drive you to Oakland airport when you leave or to the BART to get to SFO.
PARKING: You are welcome to park in our driveway while you are loading and unloading. After that, we can negotiate your ability to share that space. Street parking is difficult but possible. If you are like many of our guests who just park the car and take public transportation for the duration, we will happily put your car in the garage.
Suggestion: There is so much going on here. Go online to Goldstar to get an idea of the 100 or so plays, tours, and other exciting events; all at half price! You can sign up for free. This is a good Eastbay link for 2013:

It's awesome experience and was very lucky to get such home and such wonderful people in America so am very great full for Pat and layn no (website hidden) say pat was so kind to us and helpful for us by guiding all the way and house is in very good location and very clean
Pat and Lynn were gracious hosts and made me feel a very welcome guest. Their home is gorgeous, the location was perfect for my stay with restaurants, shopping and places to walk just outside the door. I would recommend this choice as a home away from home in the Bay area.
Pat and Lynn were wonderful hosts. The place was very comfortable and they made me feel right at home. Enjoyed visiting with Pat and Chloe, the dog, was a great. Will definitely put this as one of my favorites.
Staying at Pat and Lynn's Airbnb was like staying at our favorite aunt and uncles house. To us, their kindness was beyond hospitality; it felt more like home. As for their house: the listing description was accurate. The neighborhood was perfect! We are from NYC so this neighborhood where Pat and Lynn reside was what we are accustomed to and enjoy; a walkers paradise. We plan to move to Oakland very very soon, so we'll be back Pat and Lynn!! :-)
Pat and Lynn are welcoming and gracious, without being at all intrusive. We loved their home and our room in it...and especially the back yard, which was a great place to work and just relax. They are located in a wonderful neighborhood...lots to walk to. And were also quite informed about places to check out. Additionally, Pat went above and beyond to help out printing some travel documents for an upcoming trip, and also 20 pages of material for a workshop my travel partner Gale did. Finally, it was great to have a place to do laundry!
I'm not generally a big dog fan, but Chloe the dog could make me a convert: also welcoming but not intrusive; keeps her distance unless invited. A perfect Airbnb dog-host.
We'd definitely come here again if we return to Oakland.
We are really enjoying being AirBNB hosts. We're kind of naturals at it. Pat is retired and Lynn is still working but in her own business nearby. We love to travel when we can, see friends, attend theater and movies, enjoy our many wonderful Bay Area restaurants, take walks around the neighborhood and with our dog, Chloe. Our kids, Gabriel and Liz are grown. Gabriel and Sarah have been happily married for three years. They're all a big part of our lives.
