About this listing
We offer a perfect place for travelers wanting an inexpensive alternative to hotels, for visiting grandparents, scholars, business people here for a few days and people transitioning to the Bay Area. Some of our more frequent guests are couples visiting their children and grandchildren in the area.
WE ARE VERY CLOSE TO SF AT MUCH LOWER RENT AND WITH MUCH BETTER WEATHER! NO MORE THAN 30-45 MINUTES DOOR TO DOOR USING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION OR 20 MINUTES BY CAR, DEPENDING ON TRAFFIC.
Although we are here at the same time you are, you will experience complete privacy if that is your pleasure or friendly talk if that is better for you. The house is large enough and the bedrooms far enough apart that we rarely run into each other except intentionally.
Huge bedroom with queen bed and bath en suite. Mounted cable TV, wireless internet, window seat, refrigerator, kettle, kitchen use, washer and dryer use, beautiful garden and occasional living room use. Weekly linen and cleaning included.
We'll put out coffee, juice, fruit, cereal and bread for toasting.
In addition, we can take care of your office needs such as scanning, faxing, and copying.
One very friendly but sometimes shy mid-size dog.
LOCATION: ½ block from beautiful park and garden, 300 yards from Lake Merritt. Short walk to restaurants, theaters, Saturday Farmer's market, Oakland downtown & BART to San Francisco and cities around the bay. Commuter bus or casual carpool to SF 3 blocks away.
If we are available, we'll drive you to Oakland airport when you leave or to the BART to get to SFO.
PARKING: You are welcome to park in our driveway while you are loading and unloading. After that, we can negotiate your ability to share that space. Street parking is difficult but possible. If you are like many of our guests who just park the car and take public transportation for the duration, we will happily put your car in the garage.
Suggestion: There is so much going on here. Go online to Goldstar to get an idea of the 100 or so plays, tours, and other exciting events; all at half price! You can sign up for free. This is a good Eastbay link for 2013:
When you book with us, we will send you a welcome packet with a lot of local information. Thanks and we look forward to hearing from you.
Normal - no smoking, excessive alcohol or rowdy parties. Strong fragrances linger so we prefer no perfume or strong aftershaves. We clean up all breakfast dishes. If you use the kitchen for special needs, which is allowed, please clean up. Tell us about spills. We're helpful and non-judgemental. Checkout is at noon. We are happy to keep luggage outside the room for the afternoon of departure.
Pat and Lynn were perfect hosts. Their lovely home was comfortable and the perfect place to stay in Oakland.
Pat, Lynn und Chloe empfingen uns sehr herzlich. Wir fühlten uns gleich willkommen. Das Zimmer war sauber und geräumig. Alles war für unseren Aufenthalt vorbereitet. Lynn und Pat waren stets hilfsbereit und gaben uns wertvolle Tipps. Vielen Dank.
My son and I just spent three fabulous weeks with Pat and Lynn. We were made to feel like family. A relaxing place to come home to in the evening and a comfortable place to wake up in the morning. My son loved to hang out with Pat, redesigning the fountain in the backyard, and trying to get Chloe to play. Hopefully next year we will be back! Thanks!
Great hosts. Great location. Room had all I required. Excellent alternative to staying in overpricing SanFran.
This was my first time doing AirBnB, I suspect my expectations have now been set at a very high level ;)
Pat and Lynn were fantastic hosts! My flight was delayed & I arrived late but they were so welcoming & gracious. The suite was exactly as described. Very spacious & contained a wealth of information. Wonderful neighborhood & convenient location. I came to babysit my Four year old granddaughter who was also welcome to visit with me during my stay. I would definitely stay there again & highly recommend this accommodation.
What more is there to add to all the raves for these two extraordinary hosts? My husband and I stayed with Pat and Lynn for three nights in July while visiting our daughter. We know Oakland and wanted to be close to Lake Merritt and BART since we didn't have a car. We knew that the location was perfect for all our needs, and we ran and walked around the lake every morning and walked or took buses to our favorite restaurants, etc. What we didn't expect was that staying with Pat and Lynn would feel like visiting dear friends. We enjoyed breakfasts on their deck, overlooking the lovely garden, chatting with Pat about everything from things to do in Oakland to political philosophy and world religions. I'm sure you could stay here and be completely self-sufficient, but you would miss out on meeting great people.
we stayed nights at Pat&lynn's place. They made us feel like being home, warm and sweet. The house is located in a beautiful neighborhood around by lake, walking distance to all kinds of restaurant and grocery store. We go to SFO everyday by 12 min walk to BART station. Indeed Convenience location. my 5 years girl adores Pat! The first thing she wants to do in the morning is to play with Grandpa Pat! Next time I m going to Bay area, definitely I want to stay in this same house! Thank you, Pat and Lynn!
About the Host, Pat And Lynn
We are really enjoying being AirBNB hosts. We're kind of naturals at it. Pat is retired and Lynn is still working but in her own business nearby. We love to travel when we can, see friends, attend theater and movies, enjoy our many wonderful Bay Area restaurants, take walks around the neighborhood and with our dog, Chloe. Our kids, Gabriel and Liz are grown. Gabriel and Sarah have been happily married for three years. They're all a big part of our lives.
