Cozy Mother-in-law Studio

Apartment - Entire home/apt · N 40th St, Seattle, WA 98103, United States

The Space

**Please read the full description and let me know if you have any questions before booking a reservation :) **

I've opened up my very large daylight basement bedroom (approx. 11'x17') into a separate studio equipped with a make shift kitchenette (mini fridge, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker- coffee included!-, dishes etc), a comfortable Queen bed, a separate entrance, a huge closet and a private bathroom with a shower (no tub).
I live next door to a really cute coffee shop, so you may be haunted by delicious smells in the morning : )

There's a fairly large TV down there with a built-in vcr but no dvd player (yet), however I have put some choice movies down there for your viewing pleasure : )

Within 6 blocks there are tons of restaurants, bars, a movie theater, 5 bus lines heading all over the city, not to mention one of my favorite parks (Gasworks)!

There is always parking within 1/2 block, so no worries about that.

I have a washer and dryer that will be made available to guests staying longer than 4 days (at your request).

**Please note:

-The driveway leading to the apt is a very steep slope down so if you have trouble getting around, this isn't the place for you (sorry!).

-I live on a fairly busy road that gets going around 8am and quiets down after 10pm, so if you need absolute quiet, you'll probably want to go another route.

  • I had a great stay here for two nights. The room was a nice private space with everything I could have needed. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to find things like utensils, dishes, and a toaster waiting for me in the room. The room is in a beautiful neighborhood where houses are bundled in by gardens; next door is a little cafe that was perfect for breakfast. I wish that I had brought my running shoes with me, as there is also a nice paved trail just two or so blocks away that seemed to follow the waterfront. Although we never physically crossed paths, Sophia was super friendly and accessible on the phone. She was completely flexible with check out time as well, which was a huge help. If I'm ever back in Seattle, I would stay here again.

  • Sophia was a very helpful host. We forgot a hair dryer and she promptly provided one. The coffee she left for us to use was delicious. We had everything we needed. Location was great, right next to yummy cafe. Parking was never a problem. The street was a little noisy but we were so tired we slept thru the noise.
My husband ran everyday on the Burke-Gilman trail and really enjoyed how close it was. We will use airbnb again.

  • I stayed in Sophia's flat for a month. It was great...right on a bus route to downtown Seattle. Great bakery next door and Sophia was a lovely host.
Would mos def book here again!

  • This place is great! It's a large comfortable room with a great bathroom, and it's a really great location! I walked to Freemont and the U District and down to Gasworks Park every day. Walking distance to restaurants, shops, theaters, grocery and drug store. The neighborhood (Wallingford) is beautiful, and I felt totally safe walking around, even at night. You have your own parking space in front of the driveway (a luxury in Seattle), and the coffee shop next door (Irwin's) is fabulous! I didn't get to meet Sophia, since she was out of the country at the time, but she was prompt answering email, and I dealt with her wonderful mom, Shanti, who I scheduled checkin and checkout with. Communication was great! There was street noise, but that dissipated at night (and I'm kind of used to that anyway). This was a great place to make my base for exploring Seattle's northern neighborhoods. Would definitely stay here again!

  • This place was fantastic! Exactly 12 steps away from Irwin's coffee house, extremely cosy and private, wonderful neighborhood (only an 8 block walk to a major grocery store and close to several bus lines).

Lastly, Sophie was great. The day I got there she invited me into her place for a beer with a couple of her friends. All of them were very cool and enjoyable company.

This place is highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy the city of Seattle or even a good place to stay for work.

  • This is the perfect spot if you are visiting Seattle.
It's cozy, clean, central and right next door to an amazing coffee shop with equally yummy food.

If you are looking for something near the "hip" spots in Seattle, this is it.
    Wallingford, Ballard, etc...

Sophia is the perfect host. Look forward to going back to Seattle to stay there again!

    I highly recommend.

  • Great place, great price, great neighborhood, great host. Oh, and that cafe next door? Pretty great.

For a first-time airbnb user with inconvenient arrival and departure times, Sophia could not have been more accommodating.

  • Great location. 15-20 minute walk to the University district, 15-20 minute walk to Fremont, 10 minute walk from Gasworks Park. Irwin's Bakery and Cafe is about 20 seconds away, up the dryway and next door. This was a nice little place to sleep. You shouldn't be spending much time in your room anyway when you're on holiday. Sophia was very nice and super easy to get ahold of with any questions. Recommended!
