Sherry did an amazing job making me feel like a guest in her home. The room and was kept clean, and the neighborhood was quiet. I never felt like I was a nuisance to the family, and I enjoyed my stay immensely! Although I didn't get a chance to socialize much with the family, I felt welcome! This was my first Airbnb, and Sherry has set the standard high for any future Airbnb locations I may visit.
For the money it has met my expectations (which were not very high).
It's just a small room to sleep at night, it has host's stuff on the shelves and in the closet but there were hangers available and empty drawers for the guest.
Do not expect hotel standards. The carpet had stains that made it look like the ones one would find in a 1-star motel (unsightly) but despite some dust clumps in the drawers and one hair on the bed sheet (which was purple, not white) I'd say that the cleanliness was good enough - had no problems sleeping there.
No kitchen access and it takes about 1 minute of wasted water before it gets hot enough to deserve the name of "hot water" :) probably due to a tankless system.
Towels were clean. Minimal interaction with host.
Door did not have overnight locking features and on the first night someone almost entered the room (late, close to midnight) waking me up with the question "Who left the light on in the hall?" and "Do not leave the light on again, ok?". Strange but true :)
Since the host never knows exactly who the other guests might be I think that the doors should have a locking mechanism.
Again, for the money it was a decent place to stay. There was a Starbucks and grocery store about 10-15 minute away (walking).
Lyft or Uber came fast to take me to downtown or Stanford campus.
I would recommend it (with the observations mentioned above).
My host stayed up late to receive me at 11:30 pm as my flight was arriving late . That was so kind of him .
Nice quiet place in Palo Alto and ideal for my stanford conference .
Next year I will stay here if the place is available .
I had a very comfortable stay here. Ying and Sherry were both very friendly and hospitable.
my stay at Ying and Sherry's place was fine. Everything was provided for. My hosts must have been quite busy, because I did not meet them in person, only had contact via email and text messages.
It was a good home for my stay in Palo Alto.. Ying shared his tea... downside was no access to stove, but all and all a solid stay.
