  • I stayed at Masud's place for three nights with family. Location is okay. Plus points for proximity to subway station, a super market and a convenient store - all in walking distance. It appeared to be a safe area to us. We came back late at night and felt safe. The place was as described. Do not expect a fancy 5-star dwelling. It is very reasonably priced and that is what you will get. It was very cleand but it could have been tidied up a bit more removing unwanted/unused items. The basement area which is what you get has enough privacy. Shower was kind of uncomfortable if you have women in your party. it is very tiny and it is very difficult to change clothes inside. But overall, I was very happy with our stay. Masud was friendly and happy to answer our questions, offered tips on seeing Manhattan. We ordered Chinese delivery on night which was promptly delivered to your door step.

  • Masud's place is a great budget option for seeing New York City, and is very reasonably priced for New York and good value for money. It was comfortable and tidy, and conveniently located near to the Subway station for the J train - it takes about 40 minutes to get to Manhattan. Masud was very helpful and responsive, we sorted our booking quickly and he was flexible with our check in and check out time. Thank you Masud!

  • Pros and cons staying at Masud's place.

    Pros:
    - central in Brooklyn to many locations, short walk to trains
    - Plenty of beds and space if you have a large group
    - One room has a wall unit
    - WiFi available
    - Affordable for the amount of space
    - Masud is responsive to issues in a short amount of time
    - Masud is VERY nice, and was a pleasure to deal with.

    Cons:
    - Very dirty. This is a basement below Masud's house, and it has not been kept clean
    - Infested with roaches and spiders. Needs exterminator badly.
    - All rooms have pipes running through them, which are not well insulated and give off a LOT of heat.
    - Limited appliance use. Oven was not working. Kitchen light needs to be screwed/unscrewed to turn off and on.

In short - if you will spend the majority of your time out, and just need a place to sleep - AND you have a large number of people on a budget - Masud's will be great.

If you just have one or two people and will be staying in a lot, you can probably get a better bang for your buck.

    Response from Masud:

Hello Chand thanks for your advice and good Pros, they way you mentioned regarding the bugs, I haven't seen anything like that, anyway I hired a exterminator so it will be taken care of.

the heating pipe you mentions, this are Heating system for basements, you came from different states and your back home most probably they use push air heating system, but NYC is different and heating system pipe doesn't do the insulation.

  • My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Masuds place. It is very affordable and what you see on the pictures is what you get. Masud is a great host with a short response time. The place is ideal if you bring a long children because of the little living room. It is not super fancy but it is warm and cozy and all you need after a long day in NYC. I will most certainly recommend this place - and it fits up to seven people!
