About this listing
Waterside is a traditional cottage packed full of character and charm. Located on the shore with fantastic birdlife, it has 4 bedrooms rooms and a cosy lounge with woodburner and piano. All amenities are nearby.
We fell in love with Waterside Cottage when we moved to the island in 2011. After many happy hours spent revealing stone walls, reviving wooden floors and carefully choosing a mixture of antique, vintage and modern furnishings which we felt suited the character of this wonderful house, we welcomed our first guests in May 2012. Since then we have received some amazing comments and are delighted that visitors from 15 countries (and counting) have so far enjoyed the delights of Waterside. We hope you will join them.
Situated right on the shore, Waterside Cottage dates from 1857 and is packed full of character and charm with a little bit of luxury thrown in. It has 4 bedrooms (3 with sea views), 3 bathrooms, kitchen,lounge/diner and conservatory and is decorated with a mixture of carefully chosen antiques and more modern items. Complementary wifi, an upright piano, a big selection of books, games and DVDs, cosy dressing gowns and our favourite Arran Aromatic toiletries are a few of the more personal touches we hope you'll enjoy. A mutlifuel stove makes winter stays as toasty as summer ones and the way the house is laid out means that it is just as welcoming for 2 people as it is for 8.
Brilliantly located on Broadford Bay with views onto the water and the hills beyond, the cottage is in walking distance of all amenities and is easy to reach by car from the Skye bridge or from the ferry at Armadale. It makes a great holiday base for families, couples, friends and groups allowing you to explore the whole of Skye and Lochalsh. We even welcome up to two well behaved dogs. (small charge applies)
The family friendly Hebridean Hotel is around 2 minutes walk away and the shops and cafes of Broadford are within 1 mile. You can walk onto the shore from the garden or just watch the birdlife (greylag geese, herons, ringed plovers, oyster catchers, curlews, shelducks, widgeon, sandpipers) from the window.
There is lockable storage for bikes and at high tide you can launch kayaks and canoes from the garden. Plockton, Sleat, Elgol and Cuillin and Kintail hills are all within easy reach.

Interaction with Guests
We like to give guests their privacy so you won't generally see us but we will leave all our contact details and if you would like advice or information then you can just get in touch - we are always happy to help.
We think we are in the best position in Skye because it's so easy to go in every direction - tour round the north, down to Sleat or across to the beautiful villages of Plockton, Dornie and Glenelg on the mainland. And of course being able to walk out onto the shore which teems with birdlife is a real privilege.
Public transport isn't great in Skye but the bus does stop nearby and we are 7 miles from the train station. You can walk into Broadford from the house.
Other Things to Note
In the winter months we live in the house and let rooms individually on a B&B basis so don't be confused if you read reviews on staying with us.
All guests must agree to our terms and conditions upon booking.
