Charming Bedford Ave Apartment

Our 3 bedroom apartment with lots of old-world charm has all the amenities to make your stay in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood a great one.

The location can’t be beat. The apartment is located on Bedford Ave only one block from the Bedford L train subway station. This means that you are in the very center of Williamsburg’s Northside neighborhood, and only 1 subway stop from Manhattan’s East Village, and 3 stops from Union Square.

The apartment is in a small building with only one other residential unit and is on the top floor of a 3-story building. Since we have the whole floor, we face both the street and the rear. The apartment is sunny and bright all day and we’ve installed dark curtains for those sleep-in mornings.

The apartment is set up for a family or friends traveling together. None of the bedrooms share a common wall so all bedrooms have privacy.

There are 3 separate bedrooms, two with queen beds and one with full a size bed. The living room and kitchen are separate rooms but a large archway brings them both together. The sofa converts to a bed as well. The bathroom has a claw foot tub with shower. There are 3 air conditioning units for summer cooling, and baseboard heating throughout for winter heating.

The apartment includes many amenities you would expect at home, including a 42” TV with cable, internet radio player/ipod hookup, wifi internet at around 9mbps, phone with domestic/Canada long distance included, clothes washer, air conditioning. Kitchen includes coffee maker, toaster oven, hot water kettle, and utensils and pans for stovetop cooking. The butcher block dining table seats 6.

Fresh linens and towels are provided, and since the apartment will be professionally cleaned prior to your visit, please let us know if you'd like additional towels or linens.

Part of the charm of the apartment begins with its floors. They are beautifully refinished wide planks that are not entirely level in all areas. The stove is a 1930’s “Bengal” which you will light with a long handled lighter or match (the burners work, but the oven does not). The bedrooms are small but perfectly adequate and the beds and bedding are all new.

A few items to note: Although we are located on Bedford Ave, the apartment is surprisingly quiet, but does have the element (email hidden)ly street at night on the weekends. People who are sensitive to this may not find the apartment quiet. Additionally the staircase leading up to the apartment is narrow, and may not be suitable for people with disabilities.

We live here only part time and we have made a special effort to give you lots of space for your belongings so when you unpack, you will not feel like you are tiptoeing through someone else’s apartment.

Check In
  • Nice apartment in a great spot, with an excellent bagel recommendation!

  • Josh was an excellent host. It was easy to get the keys from the restaurant (which apparently is one of the best in the neighborhood as told by someone in the streets) The apartment is quirky, lovely and clean. I can only recommend staying there. It's close to the shoemarket where I left a substantial amount of money :)

  • Josh's apartment is located at an ideal spot in Williamsburg. Just staying on Bedford Av. is an experience in itself. We stayed five people in the apartment and it was just the right size. Check in and out went very well and even though it's a busy street we slept well. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend a stay in Williamsburg anytime!

  • Pros: Clean Apartment well located in Williamsburg. Owner provides everything he states in the ad. Nice restaurants and shop within walk distance. Subway is 2 blocks down the street. Josh allowed us to check in earlier (9:00 am)! Heater works great. Safe place.
Cons: Noise place specially during the nights, lot traffic and people walking on the streets. Building itself is falling apart and it is dirty. Stairs to get to the apartment is narrow and IMO not safe. Apartment floor makes lot noise when walking. Bathtub is old and have lot stains (i guess it just old but gave a bad impression) Shower head is really low. Center and coffee table in the leaving room is made off cardboard.
Overall: good price for the size, however would not came back because of the noise and conditions of the building. Josh is great host and easy to communicate with!

  • Good communication, easy checkin. great streets (festive on fridays if you take the room in front!). Great host!

  • Stayed at Josh's apartment for a couple weeks. Great location, cool Bars and restaurants. I was working in Manhattan but really easy to get to as Josh's place is so close to the Bedford Ave L subway. Josh was very helpful and quick to deal with any questions. Would stay again.

  • We had en excellent time in this very functional apartment. Bedfrod Ave is really charming and the proximity to the subway station made commuting esay. Thank you Josh, we had a great stay!

  • Apartment was well located to good range of restaurants, bars, supermarkets and pharmacy. Very close to L-train Bedford Avenue stop and short walk to ferry terminal. Brooklyn Brewery, flea market and Brooklyn Bowl within easy walking distance. McCarren Park also approximately 10 minutes walk away. Everything you could want within walking distance or short ride to Manhattan on L-Train.

Communication with Josh was excellent and he did us huge favour letting us leave bags on the landing outside apartment after check out before afternoon flight. Key pick up no hassles from Chase.

Stairs up to apartment are a bit narrow and little steep so keep this in mind if you have bulky luggage.

Due to popularity of the area - the noise off street can be loud at night in front bedrooms but this was expected and prepared for - nothing ear plugs can't solve.

Apartment very well stocked with house items - linen, toiletries, spare light bulbs, laundry liquid etc, - did not have to buy anything extra during 2 week stay which is handy not to have the additional expense to buy these things when staying somewhere.

Apartment description and photos accurate and beds very comfortable.

Overall an enjoyable stay and would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend to others.

  • We had a perfect stay at Josh' apt. Dec 2013. Smooth and easy communication all the way through. Superb location, charming place. 100% authentic Williamsburg!

  • Our family of 5 truly enjoyed our stay at Josh's place on Bedford. The apartment is indeed charming; it's large, comfortable, wittily furnished, and very close to the L stop. We loved having a washing machine in the apartment. Communication with Josh was very good, even though he was out of town, and Chase (who handled our check in) was great. There are so many excellent places to eat, shop and drink, all nearby, as well as grocery.stores. An added bonus was the ample free street parking nearby (if you are driving). Hope to be back, Josh!
