Charming Bedford Ave Apartment
Our 3 bedroom apartment with lots of old-world charm has all the amenities to make your stay in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood a great one.
The location can’t be beat. The apartment is located on Bedford Ave only one block from the Bedford L train subway station. This means that you are in the very center of Williamsburg’s Northside neighborhood, and only 1 subway stop from Manhattan’s East Village, and 3 stops from Union Square.
The apartment is in a small building with only one other residential unit and is on the top floor of a 3-story building. Since we have the whole floor, we face both the street and the rear. The apartment is sunny and bright all day and we’ve installed dark curtains for those sleep-in mornings.
The apartment is set up for a family or friends traveling together. None of the bedrooms share a common wall so all bedrooms have privacy.
There are 3 separate bedrooms, two with queen beds and one with full a size bed. The living room and kitchen are separate rooms but a large archway brings them both together. The bathroom has a claw foot tub with shower. There are 3 air conditioning units for summer cooling, and baseboard heating throughout for winter heating.
The apartment includes many amenities you would expect at home, including a 42” TV with cable, internet radio player/ipod hookup, wifi internet, clothes washer, and air conditioning. Kitchen includes coffee maker, toaster oven, hot water kettle, and utensils and pans for stovetop cooking. The butcher block dining table seats 6.
Fresh linens and towels are provided, and since the apartment will be professionally cleaned prior to your visit, please let us know if you'd like additional towels or linens.
Part of the charm of the apartment begins with its floors. They are beautifully refinished wide planks that are not entirely level in all areas. The stove is a 1930’s “Bengal” which you will light with a long handled lighter or match (the burners work, but the oven does not). The bedrooms are small but perfectly adequate and the beds and bedding are all new.
A few items to note: Although we are located on Bedford Ave, the apartment is surprisingly quiet, but does have the element of a lively street at night on the weekends. People who are sensitive to this may not find the apartment quiet. Additionally the staircase leading up to the apartment is narrow, and may not be suitable for people with disabilities.
We live here only part time and we have made a special effort to give you lots of space for your belongings so when you unpack, you will not feel like you are tiptoeing through someone else’s apartment.
Guests have access to the whole apartment.
Interaction with Guests
I will generally not be around during your stay as I will be in San Francisco when not in New York. Chase Hartwig will be available to answer any questions or help you out with anything apartment or neighborhood related. The apartment is perfect for guests who want to be totally independent.
The L subway line is 1 block away, convenient to getting into Manhattan and to East Williamsburg and Bushwick. Northside Luxury car service is directly across the street and they are highly recommended for Black Car service around town or to the airport. You can call to reserve or just pop in the office and request a car. You'll get one in minutes.
No tobacco smoke inside the building.
Maximum of 6 guests total.
A perfect place to stay!
Very spacious apartment that comfortably fit five without any of us ever feeling cramped. Great living space! Upon arrival, everything was pristine. Bathroom was clean and we each had fresh sheets and towels. Kitchen was great: we loved having a coffee maker and electric kettle in the mornings! Check-in was super easy as was check out. Whatever problems we had, Josh and Chase (our main contact on the ground) were very quick to offer assistance and resolve them. You cannot beat this location! One stop from Manhattan on the L but still has all the appeal of Brooklyn, with many fantastic restaurants and cute shops.
Truly is a Charming Bedford Apartment!
Charming place, comfortably sleeping five people. Very conveniently located, close to the F-train (only two blocks), but also close to great restaurants! Josh was very accommodating, and grabbing the key at the close by bar was a walk in the park. Would definitely come back to Bedford Ave, Bklyn.
Appartment as described in the website. Convenient for transportation to Manhattan. (1 stop away).
Check in was a breeze. Being able to pick up the keys at the local restaurant down the street was so convenient/clever.
The neighborhood couldn't be better, smack in the heart of Williamsburg. You step our the front door and you're 60 seconds from the L train and amidst a dozen cafes, restaurants and storefronts.
The apartment was exactly as pictured, very comfortable and clean. I entered to find that someone had gone the extra mile to clean, provide fresh sheets, blankets and towels. Josh even provided new bars of a nice oatmeal soap.
I work in film production and was staying there with two of my crew members, three dudes who snore and we could not hear one another.
There's also a nice TV and stereo. All appliances work except the oven. Stovetop burners work just fine.
The bathroom was clean and there was plenty of hot water but the claw foot tub was a bit small for one of the crew guys who is 6ft, 200lbs.
Check out was equally simple, just leave the keys and lock the doors behind you.
I would absolutely stay here again without hesitation. You couldn't ask for a nicer three bedroom in a better part of town.
Big thanks to Josh for providing an ideal AirBNB.
No oven! - made it quite troublesome when the main reason to spend Thanksgiving weekend at an apartment was to be able to cook a Thanksgiving meal. Given that the first picture one sees shows the oven and stove, as well as the indication of "kitchen" instead of kitchenette, this is deceptive advertising. Also, no 3 person sofa, and hence, the place is not properly advertised as 3 bedroom, 4 beds - unless you want to count an inflatable air mattress as a bed :(
The neighborhood is as described, and the 2 of the 3 beds were actually quite comfortable, (the 3rd was okay, but not quite as nice). The apartment is full of old-world charm, and this includes the rather steep stairs, which you might also mention in the advertisement. I think had we known about these issues before, it would have change the rating to 4-stars.
This is a great location and very convenient for trips to Manhattan. The apartment is very nice. We did have a lot of trouble sleeping. In one room the bed was on a badly slanted floor, and in one of the two rooms at the front the street noise was very loud indeed. The other room was better but of course we could not all sleep there. Apart from this, there were no problems and Josh was very responsive in his communications.
