The house was nice, extremely clean, the location was private but close to the Volcano National Park. We loved having a house to come back to after spending the day being active around the volcano. We would definitely recommend this house to anyone visiting the area. Thank you for a great stay!
The reservation was canceled 4 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Leslie's house was delightful. Very comfortable and perfect for my husband and I to explore the amazing area around it. The house was very clean and well prepared for us on arrival. Everything worked well and the kitchen had all that was necessary. Her own info folder was full of ideas and she had that great book "Hawai'i Big Island Revealed" - we would certainly recommend this little house to explore the entire island.
It was a great house and a wonderful stay. We are super close to the park so we could go very early in the morning and felt the park was all to ourselves. The house is clean, spacious and has everything we needed. Thank you Leslie!
Great location for visiting Volcanoes National Park! So close to the park, yet in a very quiet and private area. The listing is just how it's pictured, except there was a huge water tank right in front of our lanai--not the prettiest view, but the scenery is beautiful in all other directions. The cottage was very, very clean! The directions were easy to follow (thank goodness, too, because this is off the beaten path!) We found all of the house rules a little off-putting (there is a fee if you leave something behind, there is a fee if you cause a problem and don't tell the hosts, etc.). However, that did not interfere with our stay and I would still recommend the cabin to others.
Delighted that the cottage was enjoyed.. and to have received honest input. And to answer to some of that... The water tank is unusually 'bald' right now. A new yard person misunderstood that I wanted no ginger touching the tank and they took ALL of it surrounding the tank away. It will grow back in no time, but for the moment our brown painted cement water tank is not it's usual ginger/and gardened area, but will be again soon. We have return guest request this cottage so I think it is not typically unappealing. Fee's, yes. Since I live hours away I do pay for all our services there, including someone packaging and going to our post offiice to send left behind items ($20) as I have to pay someone for that myself.. Informing us if something doesn't work or something happens during a stay which causes us extra time between guests, repair, replacement or attention is a courtesy that should not need asking for. If we only find out when our helper or I show up, we may not have what is needed to take care of an issue requiring extra hours of travel and time to remedy. It is disappointing for us that it became necessary to strongly ask for this courtesy on behalf of our next arriving guests as well as our own expense and time. We try to maintain a great level of care and maintenance. Mahalo Leslie
Very nice and cosy cottage in a great location surrounded by rainforest with ohia trees and ferns! We've seen honeykeepers just from our window and a lot of other birds not far from our terrace. Everything was well organized and Leslie was easy to contact by email. We highly recommend this place!
We had a lovely stay at this charming, cozy, tastefully decorated cottage in Volcano, it's perfect for a couple. The cottage is in a great location, minutes to Volcano National Park, yet surrounded by rainforest in a secluded, residential area. We spent 2 days hiking and exploring in the Park, and since it's so close, we returned at night to watch the glow of the crater which is a must! Even though we didn't meet Leslie, she was very organized and easy to contact by email. We appreciated all the nice little touches around the cottage, including the helpful notes, the nice decor, and the extremely comfortable bed with heated blankets. Highly recommend this place!

My father was in the military so growing up I moved often, having gone to six different schools.
After I graduated high school I myself moved to Hawaii, and have lived here 35yrs, so this is home. I worked mostly in the 5star resorts in either the tennis or boating industries, and the last 15 years have been in my 'career' of massage therapy. I think my growing up in different places/countries, employment in the hospitality industry, having designed and physically built a few homes, and now working in the healthcare... has all brought me to this enjoyed venture of providing something a bit more than expected for the visitor who has gone to so much expense and trouble to appreciate this island. I'm blessed with a husband who joins me in this effort and helps to make it possible.
