Other Things to Note
Availability changes frequently, so if we are full for your selected dates check back weekly, space may open up. And of course check our other listings, this room may be booked but others available (Airbnb lists by room, not property).
If you have stayed in a hostel before, you probably already know what to expect. You have one of four rooms. We will provide you with clean bedding and toilet paper on the first day, but after that you do your own laundry (washer and dry on site). Your toiletries (shampoo, soap, etc...) are provided by you. Sure, if you need something or lost something, we will help you out, just ask. But in general you bring your own stuff. (There are a number of markets a short walk from the room.)
The common areas (kitchen and bathrooms) are cleaned weekly, but you are expected to clean up after yourself, and to do so immediately after using the area. If any common area is messy, contact me immediately and we will take care of it, no problem. (I live next door.) We do not always check the common areas everyday, so please, if something is not right, let me know. I want to know. I will take care of it :)
You have your own private room; however, the bathrooms and kitchen are shared. There are four private rooms per unit. Thus it is necessary to respect others wishes, which means:
1) No smoking inside. Please smoke outside. There is a back patio and a front porch.
2) No parties.
3) No loud music or such.
If you have a problem with someone leaving the common areas dirty, smoking, loud noise, etc.... let us know immediately, and we will take care of it right away.
We are happy to help and advise, but basically we will leave you alone unless you ask. It is a great room for the price, and you cannot do better for access to public transport.
Kelly made us feel very welcome. The listing was accurate, this is very much like a hostel. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet and we enjoyed our stay, finding that the kitchen had everything we needed. The neighbourhood was fine, we felt safe there but didn't really walk around much - having a car here was very useful, and there was secure parking. We would recommend this to anyone that just needs a place to crash, and would stay here again.
Location was good, a short walk from the metro station. The host was also kind enough to let us store our luggages after check out.
Kelly's place was better than expected. Comfortable twin beds with clean sheets. Nice kitchen with everything you need for cooking. Super close to a metro station, can access almost all attractions in LA. I would definitely come back if I need a place to stay in LA.
Our host Kelly was friendly and welcoming, but the property itself was frankly subpar for a vacation stay. It was certainly priced cheaply, but the condition of the room, the bathrooms (especially), and the overall building were quite poor. The one upside is that the rate was so low, that I'm just chalking up the cost to experience. Sorry I can't really say much better about it - we didn't even end up staying either of the two nights we reserved.
Staying at Kellys's place was a good deal for the money. You do get what you pay for and that is a place to crash, not much more. The location is convenient (but a little sketchy at night) and the parking in the back is great. Taco Bell is right around the corner. Kelly was friendly and very flexible when it came to checking in. The shared kitchen and bathrooms could use some more cleaning and updating though.
Expect it to be as it is written above - like a hostel - and you'll be fine in here.
The kitchen has everything you need and two bathrooms are sufficient, you'll always catch a free one. There were some minor things like there was not always a towel in the kitchen or there was some mould in the coffee filter in the machine - but these things always depend also on how the other guests behave...
Kelly always was very friendly and helpful, thank you!
