Loch Haven is situated at the top of a very steep, windy mile-long road. Although it might be a bumpy ride, it's worth it once you see the views. We're the last visible house on the right, so you feel as if you have the entire mountainside to yourselves.
Other Things to Note
Since we live in the country, wildlife viewing is at its best! Depending on the time of year, you might see lizards scamper across the front porch or over the stones; quail trot across the road or snuggle up on the roof; magnificently woven webs that magically appear overnight; bizarre, harmless insects; mud-swallows nesting in the eaves, swirling overhead, or sunning themselves on the roof; deer feeding on our garden at dawn; wild turkeys mosey across the fields; gophers peeking out of their holes, and more!
Basic responsibility and respect. No smoking. Quiet home and surrounding area. Make yourself at home, but remember it is our home, too. Treat it as you would want guests to treat your own home. Reasonably clean up after yourselves and respect the privacy of our caretaker and other guests. We appreciate your consideration.
Excessive cleaning, anything over the normal room change-over, will be billed at $25/hour. Lost key fee is $50. Both will be taken from the security deposit.
Pets not only welcome but encouraged! You are welcome to bring your own pets to stay in your room with you. Just please pick up after than and ensure they don't damage the house or furniture. Your companion will have access to a small, fenced yard to do his or her business. Please pick up after your pet (including excessive pet hair) and dispose of the waste appropriately. Excessive cleaning rates reply if your pet leaves a mess, too. Large water dispenser available for them as well.
We respect your privacy, and we expect you to respect ours. If you need anything to make your stay more comfortable, however, please don't hesitate to text your needs or requests.
Check in is at 4pm. Check out is strictly by noon. If you need to arrive earlier that can possibly be arranged, but I'm afraid late departures aren't possible. When booking on the same day of your stay, please allow at least 4 hours notice before planned arrival and plan to arrive no later than 10pm.
Ethan was very welcoming and made us feel at home. Their home is lovely, in a beautiful setting with a majestic view and well appointed. We enjoyed our stay very much and appreciate the complementary book by these authors.
Funky hippie meets Camelot! This room was eclectic, but comfortable, with all the necesseties we needed for our overnight stay. Ethan met us promptly and showed us around, giving us access to the entire house which was great. AMAZING views of Clear Lake and Mount Konokti. Although this side of the lake is not upscale, my husband and I were able to track down great food for dinner in cute Upper Lake, just a 20 minute drive away. Hosts were not well versed in the local food scene, but if you do a little research or pick up a local publication, there ARE little gems to eat at in Kelseyville, Lakeport and Upper Lake, which are also the best places to visit if you are looking for culture in Lake County. We recommend the Blue Wing Saloon, went for dinner and it was fantastic! They also serve Sunday brunch and have a vibrant live music scene on Monday nights. Make reservations ahead to be seated outside in their very nice garden area. The room at Christine and Ethan's home was a comfortable, convenient place for our little getaway.
We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay, Erin. Admittedly, we don't eat out much at all, so we're thrilled you found a great place to dine. I'll add the Blue Wing Saloon to our list on this site as well as the list in the rooms. Perhaps we can add their brochure to the many local brochures in the desk.
Please come back anytime!
Fantastic breathtaking views! Be sure to get there for sunset, it's a great! Amenities were very nice and everything was clean. Jess and Christine were helpful and responsive! Just FYI the road going up to the house is very steep and needs to be resurfaced so it's very uneven.
It was my first experience with Airbnb. I was staying there one night. Christine was so responsive and the place was exactly as same as pictures and descriptions. Great view, very quite area, beautiful nature and a clean and nice decorated house. The place had lots of amenities if you'd want to stay several days and using the kitchen. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was completely clean and ready to use. Thanks from them.
You should get there before darkness so that you can find the property easily and enjoy the sunset.
My wife and I arrived from San Francisco after a beautiful drive through the countryside to find that this lovely home in the hills above Clear Lake was exactly what we had hoped for and more. The room was comfortable and we kept, the house was well decorated and had a unique Country/Renaissance fair vibe and that view from the little bistro deck was unreal. My wife and I have traveled the world, and it is honestly one of our favorite Air BnB finds yet. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks!
Christine is a nerdy nice host! Although I didn't have a chance to see her, but she was very patient to tell me the tour information. The key point is her house in the greatest house I stayed from airbnb! It located on a top of hill at Lucerne, the view from every angle are all fantastic! I can see sunrise, sunset, moon and stars in the house! Because I love Christine's house so much that I changed my plan at Clear Lake and extended one night there! There will be one day I should come back to be your guest again!
I love Christine's house so much!

I'm a writer and a professor, and my husband, Ethan, is a writer and a carpenter. We're both ethical vegetarians and love animals. Our little family consists of Buster, a friendly and cuddly boxer, and Shadow, the cat. Ethan and Christine tend to be quiet and polite, unless you get Christine talking, then you'll wonder if she'll ever stop! We sometimes travel to conventions and festivals to promote our books.
Our entire home is available for your rental, but you can also rent just a room. We will be available for any questions or help throughout the reservation, from first contact until check out.
We will contact you on the day of your arrival for an ETA, warmly greet you, show you your room, and then give you your privacy. You likely won't see us again until your departure when we bid you farewell and safe travels. However, if you'd like to play a board game or have a philosophical conversation during your stay, I'm sure we could be persuaded quite easily.
We strive for all 5-star reviews, so please don't hesitate to contact either Ethan or Christine should anything fall beneath your expectations, if you have questions, or if you need help. If there is ever a problem, please give us a chance to fix it.
