Interaction with Guests
I am available for questions and tips re tour info to the monarca butterfly reserves and to local indigenous artisan workshops; restaurant advice and walking tours for Morelia's tourist sights.
In the heart of the Colonia Centro, the Historical Neighborhood of this beautiful Colonial UNESCO
World Heritage City. Galeana Ave. is THE residential street in the center 'El Centro' of Morelia, a UNESCO World Heritage site. EASY walking distance to ALL the tourist sights of this lovely colonial city. We are close to everything, yet the rooms are tucked away and this is a quiet place to stay.
Casona is in the heart of Morelia, walking distance from the Cathedral, shops, cafés, museums and more. The icing on our "pastel" - our taxi drivers and tour guides, Jesus and Geraldo, are the best around, and our guests rave about their service.
Other Things to Note
Great care was taken to create a warm and inviting environment at Casa Rosa with lush towels, premium bed linens, a fully equipped and stocked kitchen, as well as colorful local handcrafts, some for sale~~~plus all the comforts of home. Many reviews say we are "home away from home". We like that!
We have 2 outdoor courtyards with plenty of sitting room for sun and shade; a hammock; 2 dining rooms; a living room with library, plus a Community Room for lounging, reading, tv, phones and computer set up. All of this, plus 3 of the 5 suites are on the ground floor; and 2 suites are upstairs.
Mi casa su casa....
Enjoy yourself immensely!
Viva la Vida!
Rose was very communicative and accommodating from the beginning. She made our stay very much like an office & home at the same time. More than just providing a place for us for the week, we have had numerous very interesting and deep conversations for hours on end. We will definitely come back and stay here again.
The help you offered me was useful to me. Seeing your team work was inspiring. And the connection you and Jon made was dynamic to observe...and I love having magic happen around me. Muchas Gracias! It would be a pleasure to have you return...and I better know some more Spanish by then, right? Rosa
Beautiful house in the best location of town, the room is spacious and colorfull. Rose is the warmest host! she was always willing to help us and make us feel at home. We even got to meet her friends who were really nice and fun. The ladies that work with her at home are also really nice and helpful. Everything is perfect in Casona Rosa. I will return for sure and I fully recomend it.
My wife and I had a wonderful time in Morelia, in Michoacan and especially at Casona Rosa. Rose was an exceptional host who went out of her way to make our trip carefree. She made excellent restaurant recommendations. She accompanied us on a craft village trip - because of her own genuine interest and knowledge - and arranged a driver for us who was wonderful. Can't say enough nice things about the Casona - beautiful, eclectic, comfortable, and extremely well located. Morelia is a gem - a magisterial Spanish city in the heart of the Michoacan highlands, and at Casona Rosa, you are right in the middle of it with a host who cares a great deal about making sure you have a good experience.
We only stayed with Rosa for one night, unfortunately. The room was very comfortable and the property is lovely and centrally located. The food at the restaurant she recommended in the central plaza was superb. Rosa also gave us some great tips for Patzcuaro. We also enjoyed chatting with Lupita, who works for Rosa. We would stay there again.
Rose is a warm, kind, caring and professional woman. She is attentive and responsive as a host from start to finish. Her responses to my (countless!) emails were always prompt and very helpful. The true love and respect she has for Mexico and its culture is evident not only in her support of local artists and the arts but in her daily life as a member of the community in Morelia. I recommend staying at La Casona Rosa where you could not be more centrally located or well taken care of. Lupe, Rosa's right hand woman, is also such a lovely person who fed us beautiful breakfasts daily. At La Casona Rosa you will feel at home and enjoy the stunning city of Morelia. Gracias Rose y Lupe! We'll see you soon!
There are three things that make Casona Rosa a can’t miss place to stay; The property, Rose, and Lupe.
The property is perfectly located, 3-6 block walking distance from the center zone, great shopping, great churches and Lu Restaurant. DEFINITELY eat there! It’s creative fine dining at ridiculously affordable prices. Both our meals were terrific! The property is good size and very nicely decorated. There are beautiful plants all around, lots of natural light and air flow as well as comfortable common areas. My wife and I stayed in the Frida Khalo suite. It was perfect, nicely decorated, had a really comfortable bed, two rooms (the other had a twin bed that seemed nice as well), and a nice bathroom with a good shower. Even though there were other guests staying on the property we had a lot of privacy.
Rose is lovely. She has a very warm presence, was very easy to communicate with, very helpful with recommendations, and just made us feel safe and welcomed at her place. She was also incredibly accommodating of my wife and my food allergies.
Lupe is a sweetheart. She prepared our breakfast in the morning as well cleaned our room/area. She was also very warm and the complimentary breakfast she prepared was very tasty. We enjoyed chatting with her each morning.
In the end, my wife and I can’t think of any reason why we’d ever want to stay anywhere else in Morelia. We’ve paid two to three times as much money for half the value we received. Ideal location, lovely property, incredible host and a terrific lady responsible for the rest. Treat yourself to this place, and then treat yourself to something else special with the money saved from your savvy decision!
Our stay with Rose was wonderful. She is a great host, the casona Rosa is both ideally located as well as comfortable and well equipped (in our case we travel with 2 small girls). Morelia is wonderful and a must see when traveling to Mexico.

I am a woman who fell in love with Mexico 10 years ago, found a place here in Morelia, and took it on the spot. Ever since then I've been reveling in the joys of Mexico, and I love sharing my experience of Mexico with others.
I think we have the best of Mexico right here in what they call
"the soul of Mexico"...the central highlands area. Morelia
is a fantastic colonial city, the most like Spain of any of the
colonial cities. The Centro Historico is a UNESCO World Heritage site. We are about 40 minutes away from the Lake Pátzcuaro area with all the indigenous villages that specialize in arts and crafts that have been carried on from generation to generation for hundreds of years.
Art, culture, history, heritage, food, flavors, weather, wonderful people.....we have it all here! Mi casa es su casa!
