Welcome to our huge, classic 16th century colonial home in the heart of downtown Morelia, Michoacan. The decoration and style give tribute to local art and vibrant colors. There are five suites to choose from, each with a private bathroom (all with TWO bedrooms or a bedroom and sitting room). TV, phones (local and LD), cd player, high-speed wireless internet plus a guest computer are available to all who stay as well.
Prices range from $65 to $125 per night per suite for 2 people,
depending on your choice and availability.
Great care was taken to create a warm and inviting environment at Casa Rosa with lush towels, premium bed linens, a fully equipped and stocked kitchen, as well as colorful local handcrafts, some for sale~~~plus all the
comforts of home. Many reviews say we are "home away from home". We like that!
We have 2 outdoor courtyards with plenty of sitting room for sun and shade; a hammock; 2 dining rooms; a living room with library, plus a Community Room for lounging, reading, tv, phones and computer set up. All of this, plus 3 of the 5 suites are on the ground floor; and 2 suites are upstairs.
When you write to us, we will help you choose the perfect
suite to suit your needs.
Icing on our "pastel" - our taxi driver and tour guide, Jesus,
is the best around, and our guests love his service.
Galeana Ave. is THE residential street in the center 'el centro' of Morelia...EASY walking distance to ALL the tourist sights of this lovely colonial city. We are close to everything, yet the rooms are tucked away and this is a quiet place to stay.

Come stay at Casa Rosa and 'Live life in true Mexicana style!"
We recently spent a full week at Rose's Casa Rosa in Morelia. I cannot imagine a more colorful or decorated place in the country. It was terrific. The B&B was about three blocks from the Cathedral and exact center of the city. It was an old mansion and now contains five suites. Somehow we were given the largest suite (Patzcuaro) that could actually hold five people so the two of us had lots of room to move around. The only criticism would be that the bathroom was very small and a large person might feel a bit uncomfortable. We did catch a glimpse of three of the other suites after people moved out and we saw larger bathroom facilities in other rooms. Three suites were on the ground floor and two were upstairs.
There were commons areas too. A large area was a sort of courtyard with some chairs and tables and was mostly outside. The breakfast dining area also had a couch and sofa and there was a TV and computer area as well.
Breakfast started at 8:30 and was usually prepared by Lupe who also did much of the cleaning up in the B&B. The breakfast consisted of cut up fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee, and toast.
Rose is the owner and manager and she is from the States and is now familiar with things in Morelia and can help you find a tour to the city or surrounding area or to see the butterfly sanctuary in winter. She usually seemed busy but always had time to chat and was very helpful.
We spent most of our time exploring Morelia and took a bus to nearby Patzcuaro one day. Collectivos and taxis were easily accessible but we usually walked everywhere in the city save for to and from the intercity bus station.
We easily recommend Rose's place. It was warm despite being February and still winter when we were there. It was so close to the center of Morelia but was not on a terribly busy street and was quiet. The ambience was great! I understand why it is a popular place.
My husband Andres and I had a wonderful stay with Rose at her house in Morelia. My husband is from Morelia and we were spending a lot of time with his family but it's always great to have a little "down" time after a day filled with family noise and fun! We brought along a family friend and Rose did such a lovely job of accommodating us so we could be "together" but still have separate bathrooms. We enjoyed our visits with Rose, Lupe and all of the other guests we met during our stay. We will be staying with Rose again for sure in the future! Thanks Rose for a great time!
We enjoyed the beautiful spacious bedrooms and the warm shower. The decoration is tastefully done in Mexican colors and beautiful artisan pieces. Rose is a fountain of local culture, and we definitely plan to return next year to her place. It was also fun to meet the other people staying there.
My sweetheart and I just returned from a fantastic week at Rose's where we came to see the Reserva de Mariposa Monarca and wander the city of Morelia. Rose and her staff (thanks Lupe!) are lovely and welcoming and helped make the trip all the more special. She helped us arrange the trip to the butterflies (magical) and provided great information on where to explore in Morelia. We had a fantastic time and loved the whole experience. The people of Morelia are very special, super friendly, welcoming, great spirits, love to talk with you if you want-or leave you alone if you prefer. Felt completely safe, day and night, exploring various neighborhoods. Can't say enough good things about Rose's and Morelia. Muchas Gracias!
As I sit in the Guadalajara airport awaiting my flight back to the States I review my stay at Casa Rosa and find that I feel very pleased with my visit to Morelia, mostly because of all of the comfort, attention to detail, support, and friendly attitude of staff, and Rosa. Not only did they go out of their way to help me get settled in my beautiful and comfortable Frida room, but they gave me information on what to see and do in the area, helped me get oriented to surroundings, such as where to buy food, get pesos, great restaurants, and entertainment. The communal kitchen is the best I have ever seen, fully stocked with basics needed for cooking ones own meals if desired. The best part is the feeling of being part of this B&B community, feeling safe, and being in a friendly environment. Thus enabling me to focus on my sightseeing! Thanks Rosa! God bless!
We are very thankful that we picked Casa Rose for our stay in Morelia. We stayed over Christmas and we felt like we were a very welcome guest in Rose's Casa. In fact, it work well to just treat it as our own and feel relaxed in the common areas in particular the kitchen.
Our family (two adults, a 6 and 4 year old) stayed in the Patzcuaro Suite. It worked well for us. There was plenty of room in the suite as well as within the common areas of the Casa. It was quiet and we slept well.
The location is fabulous and Rose helped guide us in where to go which was much appreciated. The place and room really were great for our kids and Rose was wonderful with them.
The Casa is full of character, much of it funky, unique and/or charming. Each aspect turned out to be very workable and appreciated. We stayed over Christmas. Morelia was vibrant and we enjoyed the culture during this time and also the Christmas spirit within the Casa.
We found airbnb to be easy to use and booking the stay worked great. I have no hesitation recommending Casa Rosa as a place to stay for a unique experience, which in Morelia we believe is better than a hotel or renting an apartment.
Thank you to Rose and her team.
Even though our stay in Morelia was too short, Rose made us feel really in home, bringing us tips to enjoy the city, we want back again soon, highly recommended!!!
Thank you Rose!!!
The four of us stayed over the día de los muertos in Casa Rosa. We had a wonderful stay and Rose was able to provide us with relevant information and tips. We also participated in the tour that Rose organised for the día de los muertos, which was a truly amazing experience.
The house itself is located in the city centre making it easy to explore the city by foot. The interior as well as the garden can hardly be described as anything else but beautiful, decorated with a lot of attention to detail.
Rosa as well as her staff were warm and friendly, always making sure one feels at home, which we certainly did. Highly recommendable!
I've been coming to Morelia for the past seven years, primarily for the Film Festival that takes place in October, but to also explore the area a bit more. I've stayed in every nice hotel in Morelia from the Virrey de Mendoza to Cantera Diez to Juaninos, Casa Madrona and Villa Montana. All nice in their own way . . . but staying with Rose Calderone at her home was a very special treat, indeed.
The best part about Casa Rosa is, well . . . Rose! What a beautiful person she is . . . warm, caring, hospitable, respectful . . . and a great resource if you've never been to Morelia or Michoacan. Rose went out of her way not only for us but each of her guests to make sure we were well taken care of, providing insight into not only how to get around and about in Morelia, but incredible one-of-a-kind suggestions for day trips, travel, art, culture, music, food . . . you get not only a great place to stay at Casa Rosa, you get a personalized vacation that not everyone gets when they come to Morelia. Rose has drivers, tour guides, artists, and local residents that can provide you a unique insight into the REAL Michoacan --- a magical place.
We actually occupied a good portion of the house during our stay. There were 5 of us staying at one point plus our two dogs. We had use of the back of the house and the Patzcuaro suite, which included our own dining room and office. This came in VERY handy as we were able to kill several birds with one stone: we could have our pets with us, we had our nanny's with us, we could watch movies all day at the festival, we could conduct business, we could have our privacy or engage with other guests . . . it was ideal for our needs.
The rooms themselves were well tended to . . . each with its own unique flair, all from Rose's travels and collections throughout Mexico. Some rooms are definitely better than others so make sure you email Rose and let her know specifically what you are looking for . . . trust me . . . she will do her absolute best to accommodate you.
You can't beat the location, the hospitality, the insight into Michoacan, the comfort and amazing time you will have at Casa Rosa.
Personally, we are looking forward to going back and spending more time with Rose and her team of wonderful staff and friends. Fer, myself, "Piccola" Frida aka the Piranha and little Miss Mocha all send you our love Rose. Come visit us as well!!! We would love to host you too!
Rose was such an amazing host. She provided valuable information about travel in the region and was great to visit with and share our time in Morelia. Her house was cozy and comfortable with all the amenities we needed in a central location. Definitely stay with Rose and tell her I sent you.
