The cottage has a bedroom with a King sized, four poster bed with a delux McCroskey mattress. The room is large, 14' x 14" and the bathroom is shared by other guests with an outside bathroom door for them, should there be any. If you would like complete privacy, you can rent all of the rooms. There is also an option to rent the entire cottage with kitchen and living room.
Glen Ellen hilltop with views and stone paths on the 10 acre organic property with views of the San Pablo Bay. Patio and viewing platform with daffodils covering the hillsides in February and March, peonies blooming in May and June and and roses blooming through December. Olives are harvested in late fall and winter. Wine events and tastings thoughtout the summer and fall in Sonoma and in the Sonoma Valley and tastings continue through the winter. My site is private and quiet with beautiful surroundings. Pitch dark nights and great star viewing are possible in the country as there is no ambient light. The electricity is provided by solar panels hidden at one end of the 10 acres.
The downtown of Glen Ellen has several restaurants and an excellent market with good coffee drinks as well. It is one and one half miles from my home. Just a little further at Jack London Village, you will find YETI which is a Nepalese/Indian restaurant treasure. People drive from SF to eat there! Sonoma and Santa Rosa are both about 25 minutes away and Kenwood is 10 minutes with more restaurants and stores. I highly recommend the Kenwood Restaurant on Highway 12 and a Portuguese restaurant in Sonoma named LaSalette, off the Square in an alley on the movie theatre side.
A new amenity is now a small picnic kit and basket that can keep a bottle of wine cold, with a basket with wine glasses, implements, cheese knives and cutting board for cheeses to take with you to the patio or platform or around the area. All you need to provide is the food!
If you are interested in walking, my paths will provide nice up and down opportunities as will my road for half a mile down the hill. Mosquito netting that covers the armchairs on the platform, and will make evenings delightful there at dusk and after dark.
Nearby is a world famous Botanical garden, Quarryhill, at the intersection of the north end of Arnold Drive and Highway 12. Jack London Road in the center of Glen Ellen leads to Jack London Park and his Beauty Ranch which is now a state park run by private fund raising owing to California's budget problems.
Visitors have described my setting as "A Little Bit of Heave," and I agree!
I am cosmopolitain and well travelled and love sharing my home and my extraordinary site with with visitors.

We had a wonderful stay here. Beautiful grounds and lovely room and bed. We especially enjoyed sitting out and reading on her super private deck that overlooks the entire valley. Very peaceful and quiet.
We didn't have the pleasure of meeting Marde, she was away for the weekend, but the gentleman who greeted us was kind, accommodating and made sure we had what we needed. As others have said, this is very much a shared space. There are several rooms for rent in the barn in addition to the room in the main house where we stayed. All share a bathroom and common space in the main house, so this requires that the doors stay unlocked at all times. There are no keys given to guests for the house, and there are no locks for the room in the main house. This was not a huge issue as the space was safe, just something to be aware of. Something else to note is that there is a very sweet, elderly dog on the property that seems to have full reign of the house. While friendly, this was difficult for me as I was allergic and spent most of the weekend on allergy medication. Animals are definitely featured in the pictures, so no false advertisement. But a note that this is very much a lived in, communal space - good for those who are easy going and not too finicky about privacy and cleanliness. Overall, our stay was lovely. The lookout point/observation deck was the perfect place to start each morning. Marde and her friend couldn't have been more gracious. We thank them for being so open and generous.
Peace and Quiet with beautiful views, a veranda that lends itself to the total comfort of the afternoon/evening. The PERFECT getaway and just what the doctor ordered. Marde is a pleasure to talk to and gives her guests plenty of privacy.
Wonderful experience! Marde was a great host and the location was gorgeous and peaceful.
Just for emphasis - this is a King Bedroom rental only, with a shared bathroom - though the hostess graciously allowed access to the kitchen as well for minor chores. The location is spectacular, "top of the northern Sonoma Valley world" - lost way up high in towering old oaks. A large outdoor veranda is perfect for the end-of-day glass of wine - in quiet splendor.
Marde's property is like a fairy tale - the trees and flowers on this 10 acre property are beautiful - we loved the stone steps leading down to the wooden viewing platform, looking out over a sweeping valley and in the distance, the bay. Marde is a lovely host, warm and inviting and made is feel welcome and comfortable. This was actually my second stay here. The bed is very comfortable too!
Our stay at Lupine Ridge was great. Marde was very easy to work with. Her property is beautiful and her place was just a short drive to so many things. Would definitely stay here again!
