I came with my partner for a 10 day holiday to Lipari and stayed in Alfredo's cottage. It was an amazing apartment with high ceilings and walls that were about 1 metre thick. We came in December so it was a bit chilly in the evenings at this time of year but the apartment had adequate heating facilities. The shower was very high-tech with the option of overhead water, side jets or hand-held shower. There was also even a hair dryer in the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. In the kitchen (among other appliances) Alfredo has a toaster with an English plug and an additional row of English electrical sockets - a lifesaver if you are coming from the UK and forgot to bring your international multiplug! There is an orange and lemon tree in the garden and Alfredo told us to help ourselves to the fruit ... so we did! Alfredo was very nice - picked us up at the harbour and even made a stop at a supermarket for us on the way to the cottage. He speaks English and gave us lots of useful advice about the islands.
Alfredos house was great! It is up on the mountain with a reallly stunning view (you even can see mount etna)! You can just sit up there and nearly cry when its getting dark and you look at all the lights blinking at the coast of sicily. The house is newly and very tasteful renovated. You probably will need an scooter, you can rent for 15 euro a day, or - like i did - can get a little discount: i rented one 5 days for 60 euro. Thats really cool too to get around on this beautiful island. One thing, i didnt understand was, that Alfredo doesnt provide towels, so you have to bring your own. Second minus is the cleaning fee of 50 euro, a little too much, i think. But Alfredo is the perfect host and a supercool guy. He picked me up from the ferry and even drove me back there on my last day. I really miss the island, it was extremely stunning there.
Fantastic view and super cosy terrasse. I recommend to rent scooters, it's quite a long walk to the city, and it's a really good way to get around at the island. It was easy to get in contact and make appointments with Alfredo. I recommend this place to my friends!
Alfredo was a great host. He picked up my friend and I at the port, gave us the lowdown and tour of the island as he drove us up to his cottage, and gave some great recommendations for places to eat and see. And was kind enough to hookup us with Vespa rentals.
He is extremely responsive and even came late at night to help us when we got lost driving around on the island ( which you can't go wrong with in Lipari, a great place to wander and get lost).
The cottage is beautiful, clean and spacious and the view is stunning. Grab some food from the local market and cook up a great meal and just enjoy the mountain top view. Or take an afternoon nap in the hammock. Also the neighbors are super friendly and even gave us some great locally fresh picked lemons and rosemary for our meals.
A definite must stay place if you want to experience the island as a local and get the real feel of the island.
We hope to be back.
We had a really nice time in Lipari. Alfredo is a great and helpful host. He came to pick us up and drove us back to the ferry station and gave us advice about the activities / restaurants / beaches of the island.
The house is perfect for 2 people. It is a little far from the centre of Lipari but with a scooter / car it is easily done and the view is amazing.
I definitely recommend it!
We had a great time. Breathtaking view! Everything is as written in the listing. Easy-going and available host. Thanks Alfredo
Amazing view and extremmely confortable house.
We had a wonderful time on Lipari Island thanks to the great location of Alfredo's eolian house. The house is a 30-40 minute walk down the harbour but we didn't try to walk back to the house because it was too hot (35°C) for a steep walk. Instead, we hired a scooter which was the most convenient way to get to the house and also discover the island.
On the day of our arrival, Nunziata very kindly drove us to the house and explained what we needed to know for a comfy stay and she also drove us back to the harbour on the day of our departure. If you like wilderness and love beautiful views, you will absolutely fall in love with this island and Alfredo's house. Thanks for everything!!
