This is a lovely, sunny, well-equipped, semi-quiet apartment in Park Slope available most days of the year. Includes dishwasher, laundry, wifi, cable tv, coffee maker, microwave, 100% cotton fresh towels and bed linens. All you need is a change of clothes, toiletries, and personal items. The bedrooms are not totally private: there is a divider wall, but no doors (although there are pocket doors that divide the two bedrooms from the rest of the apartment). There is a queen bed in one bedroom, a twin in the other, and a twin/daybed in the common room (which cannot be considered a private space at all).
In 2009 I moved with my family to a rural area north of the city, and when I am not visiting or working in Brooklyn I rent out my apartment. I've kept it furnished and equipped so that you have what you need for comfort and to live like a local. The apartment is located in charming, historical, and sometimes gritty Park Slope, what many people consider to be one of the most desirable neighborhoods in all of New York City, on 9th Street between 4th & 5th Avenue. In 2010 it was ranked #1 in New York by New York Magazine citing its quality schools, dining, nightlife, shopping, access to public transit, green space, quality housing, safety, and creative capital. It was named one of the "Greatest Neighborhoods in America" by the American Planning Association in 2007, "for its architectural and historical features and its diverse mix of residents and businesses, all of which are supported and preserved by its active and involved citizenry". In December 2006, Natural Home magazine named Park Slope one of America's ten best neighborhoods based on criteria including parks, green spaces and neighborhood gathering spaces; farmer’s markets and community gardens; public transportation and locally owned businesses; and environmental and social policy.
The apartment is 1/2 block from the M, R, and F trains, which bring you to lower Manhattan within 20 minutes, and central Manhattan in about 45 minutes. Walk up 9th Street 4-1/2 blocks and you’re in the 585-acre Prospect Park (Brooklyn's equivalent of Central Park), the huge Harmony Playground, and the renowned Bandshell for live, free performances all summer. Within one block of the apartment is a large well-stocked grocery store, several pharmacies and banks, and the post office. Continue down 5th Avenue and you’ll find dozens of highly regarded restaurants (like the famous Al Di La reviewed in the New York Times) as well as tons of ethnic places (Mexican, Indian, Moroccan, Thai, etc), boutiques, coffee shops (Martin's, Gorilla Coffee), patisseries (Blue Sky Bakery, Colson Patisserie), and bars. Up on 7th Avenue, you’ll find more of the same, plus larger stores like Barnes and Noble and Starbucks. This is truly a great location from which to access most of New York City's landmarks, features, and fun. Also, it borders Park Slope's historic, landmarked neighborhood, which provides charming local walks and explorations.
PLEASE MAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING: 1) a $200 REFUNDABLE deposit is required. This is to provide me with some insurance in case of breakage or theft; promptly returned when my apt is turned back to me in the same condition in which it was sublet. This deposit is a transaction which happens through Airbnb once a booking is made. 2) CLEANING FEE: There is a $60 cleaning fee for any reservation. This money goes directly to my wonderful cleaning lady, who ensures that you have clean bed and bath linens and a mop & scrub-sponge cleaned apartment. As of September 22, 2011, this transaction is made automatically through Airbnb when you book the apartment. Don't forget to check the "House Rules" as well please. Thank you!
