About this listing
This is a lovely, sunny, well-equipped, semi-quiet apartment in Park Slope available most days of the year. Includes dishwasher, laundry, wifi, cable tv, coffee maker, microwave, 100% cotton fresh towels and bed linens. All you need is a change of clothes, toiletries, and personal items. The bedrooms are not totally private: there is a divider wall, but no doors (although there are pocket doors that divide the two bedrooms from the rest of the apartment). There is a queen bed in one bedroom, a twin in the other, and a twin/daybed in the common room (which cannot be considered a private space at all).
In 2009 I moved with my family to a rural area north of the city, and when I am not visiting or working in Brooklyn I rent out my apartment. I've kept it furnished and equipped so that you have what you need for comfort and to live like a local. The apartment is located in charming, historical, and sometimes gritty Park Slope, what many people consider to be one of the most desirable neighborhoods in all of New York City, on 9th Street between 4th & 5th Avenue. In 2010 it was ranked #1 in New York by New York Magazine citing its quality schools, dining, nightlife, shopping, access to public transit, green space, quality housing, safety, and creative capital. It was named one of the "Greatest Neighborhoods in America" by the American Planning Association in 2007, "for its architectural and historical features and its diverse mix of residents and businesses, all of which are supported and preserved by its active and involved citizenry". In December 2006, Natural Home magazine named Park Slope one of America's ten best neighborhoods based on criteria including parks, green spaces and neighborhood gathering spaces; farmer’s markets and community gardens; public transportation and locally owned businesses; and environmental and social policy.
The apartment is 1/2 block from the M, R, and F trains, which bring you to lower Manhattan within 20 minutes, and central Manhattan in about 45 minutes. Walk up 9th Street 4-1/2 blocks and you’re in the 585-acre Prospect Park (Brooklyn's equivalent of Central Park), the huge Harmony Playground, and the renowned Bandshell for live, free performances all summer. Within one block of the apartment is a large well-stocked grocery store, several pharmacies and banks, and the post office. Continue down 5th Avenue and you’ll find dozens of highly regarded restaurants (like the famous Al Di La reviewed in the New York Times) as well as tons of ethnic places (Mexican, Indian, Moroccan, Thai, etc), boutiques, coffee shops (Martin's, Gorilla Coffee), patisseries (Blue Sky Bakery, Colson Patisserie), and bars. Up on 7th Avenue, you’ll find more of the same, plus larger stores like Barnes and Noble and Starbucks. This is truly a great location from which to access most of New York City's landmarks, features, and fun. Also, it borders Park Slope's historic, landmarked neighborhood, which provides charming local walks and explorations.

Appartement chaleureux et bien équipé, très proche du métro pour Manhattan. Le quartier est animé.
Accurate description, great location. Instructions were all very easy to follow and Sandye was very accommodating with the timing.
We had a wonderful trip to Brooklyn to see family and found Sandye's apartment to be the perfect fit. We enjoyed the location due to it's proximity to restaurants and parks, and our small children loved discovering the toys and books in the apartment. The space was as advertised. Clean and plenty of space for our family of 4. We will definitely be requesting this apartment again for future trips to Brooklyn! Thank you Sandye!
Sandye provided us with tons of info on the area and places to eat and visit. We were easily able to pick up the keys close by. The apartment was as described, very comfortable for my husband and our two children. Very clean and well kept. It was on the top floor, so I believe it was the 3rd floor. Be prepared to walk up stairs with your luggage. It was a very hot day and window unit struggled to cool the place down for the night. Great location in Park Slope, close to everything and accessible street parking.
Apartment was great, quiet and bright. We happen to have a car with us and found street parking easily.
Our second time in NYC, but our first stay in Brooklyn.
After a mix-up with keys/apartment at the start of our stay, this was balanced by the fact that we were given an extended stay on our last day as we had an evening Transatlantic flight to Europe.
The stairway to the apartment is narrow and a bit shaky when carrying heavy luggage. However, the apartment is lovely. It was perfect for our stay. Fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, fridge/freezer etc. Aircon and ceiling fans for the hot summer were appreciated.
I would recommend this apartment for another stay.
Sandye met us at the apartment and handed us the keys. She was helpful in providing us the information around that area. The location was superb. Near to subway stations, many restaurants and supermarkets nearby. It is also a quiet and safe area. We did not encounter any problem while staying there.
The kitchen is well equipped and we enjoyed cooking some meals. Very convenient to have a dish washer. Also convenient to have washer and dryer for longer stay. There are also plenty of towels.
Please bear in mind this is a third floor apartment. It takes a bit of effort to take the luggages up. Otherwise, the daily climb up and down the stairs is a good form of exercise.
I would recommend this apartment to anyone who would like to experience staying in Park Slope.

About the Host, Sandye
I sublet this apartment for my friend and her family who only use it part time, so the place is all yours! No pets, no smokers, no noise please- this is a quiet building used by a small group of family members and professionals, where everyone strives to be respectful of each other's space and tranquility.
