Interaction with Guests
We look forward to meeting you and are here to welcome you and help where we can. We mainly use separate areas of the house so we offer our guests as much privacy as possible. We do however get on with our normal activities of daily living which includes cleaning, maintenance and gardening.
We like active guests who explore during the day and share their experiences with us in the evening. If guests want to spend ALL DAY/EVERY DAY in bed or hanging around the house, this place is probably not the place for them!
FREMANTLE IS A VERY POPULAR AREA WITH MANY INTERESTING PLACES AND STREETS LINED WITH ALFRESCO CAFES AND RESTAURANTS.
We are next to the river, beach and Fremantle. Perth City Centre is a short (30 min) bus &/or train trip away . You have the best of both within easy reach. You can enjoy the quirky atmosphere of Fremantle, take long riverside walks or go to the beach 5 mins away by car.
FREMANTLE‚ known as 'Freo'‚ is Perth's port and maritime playground on the mouth of the Swan River located just a few minutes (by car) and 20 mins from Perth the capital . It has a lively street life‚ a thriving café culture (locally known as the cappuccino strip) and an alternative arts scene amidst the workings of a fully functional port. There is a thriving university life with Notre Dame University occupying many of the heritage buildings in central Fremantle.
There are popular bars, café's, and restaurants close by the house on the water front along with 2 Yacht Clubs. Sometimes if you are lucky YOU CAN SEE DOLPHINS when walking along the river side. Swans, ducks and pelicans are a regular feature of the river scape along with Yachts and boats etc. There is also Tennis Courts just down the road.
Brochures and information on many activities/timetables are available in the house.
TRANSPORT near the house- There is a bus service to Fremantle or Perth city centre that runs during the day (3 min walk with some limits to its timetable) or another that runs late into the night 1.3 km (12 mins walk). Walking into Fremantle is a 40 min walk along the river.
TRANSPORT From Airport. There is now a bus from the airport which requires 1 bus transfer. Ask me how?
A Taxi from the airport is approximately $55-$60

Great location, close to the beautiful riverfront and with easy access to Fremantle. Julie and Ric were great hosts - friendly and helpful.
I couldn't feel better. I have had the most beautiful experience. Julie and Rick are beautiful and give you the space you need to enjoy every moment of your stay. Their house is stunning, the location is magnificent and the surroundings beautiful. It's a perfect place to stay. I felt welcome, sharing drinks and food with my hosts. I needed a secure place I found it. I stayed 2 weeks and would recommend this address to anyone looking for a safe, secure, clean, enjoyable, quite place. Thank you again to Julie and Rick for being so nice with me, they look after me as they knew me forever, wouldn't pick another place for my next stay.A+++++++
The room was exactly as described, it was spotlessly clean and tidy as was the whole property. Both Julie & Ric were most welcoming, but still afforded me my privacy which helped to make my stay most pleasant. Their property is in a very quiet area and I enjoyed peaceful breakfasts on the garden patio, the Swan river is within an easy walk and I am happy to recommend Riverside Freo + dolphins.
Very very thankful for the ride to the bus stop in the 40 degree C heat.
I normally do not complain about anything ever but this time I must say that I was exceedingly uncomfortable at times staying at this place. I felt as if I were staying at a boarding house with an enormous list of DO NOTs and constantly being watched and observed. As if I were an assumed hooligan who has come to rent the room for quite a lot of money just with the intention of breaking things and doing some sort of damage. There were others staying in the house - other airbnb guests - even though that is not specified in the listing. They too, have felt similarly - even worse - their view was that their stay resembled a prison. The hosts are good people - yes, but if one wishes to lend their home to others one should attempt to be more welcoming and broad minded. Both our rooms were constantly being entered in and we were all uncomfortable with that. As well as a long list of Nos, Do Nots. I cut my trip short because of this and stayed there 2 nights less than I paid for. The only comfort I found was the others staying there suffering together with me.
I am sorry you felt uncomfortable. That was certainly not what we would want you to feel and not what you indicated at the time nor did you come to me with any concerns. We hardly saw you as you were out and about and so I am very surprised that you would make such comments. It is true that we care about our property and have some guidelines (which are just mainly common sense and respect). If you had read the listing you would see easily that there may be other guests. I assume you were affected in attitude by 2 * 20 yr old young male guests who tended to need a little direction and contrary to ‘feeling imprisoned’ hardly ever went anywhere in 9 days. Not something you would expect from someone feeling uncomfortable or imprisoned.
The last point that I would like to add to is that in our house guidelines a request that guests lock their window and guest door when they go out. If you do not then we need to go in and lock the window for security reasons WHEN WE GO OUT. A further need is to open a door or window when the evaporative air-conditioner is on to facilitate its function (that is also explained verbally and in writing), we have no desire to enter otherwise. Thank-you never the less for your feedback as it is generally our desire to host mature respectful people but it is not always something you can foresee.
Both Julie & Ric were helpful and friendly, The room was nice, clean with a big comfy bed, I found it a short walk too the river and into Fremantle.
We have had a nice stay at Julie and Ric's place. It is a very nice house in a beautiful area. Julie and Ric are modest but certainly helpful when needed. They have a few rules to follow, some of which may be a bit over-the-top, especially after a 24h flight. Other than that it has been a pleasure staying there!

About the Host, Julie & Ric
We are a down to earth couple that have been lucky to host some really lovely people over a few years. We are generally pretty quiet and a little on the shy side and don’t like to be intrusive. It is our intention to give our guests space but we are available to chat should you wish and we try to help out where we can and want our guests to be comfortable and enjoy their stay with us. We generally reserve some parts of the house for ourselves however there is some areas of overlap. Our aim is to provide a little bit of separation to provide more privacy than would otherwise be possible in a share situation. We like to be at home, generally pottering around (renovating and gardening).
We would really appreciate it if you fill in a bit of your Airbnb profile with picture...so we can put a face to the people who are interested in staying with us...
Our aim is to provide some comfortable and affordable accommodation for travellers, in a gorgeous sort after location. We might be able to assist in local knowledge and tips for getting about. Whilst we want guests to enjoy a comfortable place to stay we are NOT A RESORT and there are limitations to what we can provide. Also if all you want is a place to rest and sleep this is not the place for you.
Have a great stay in the sunny Fremantle and Perth, we hope to have the pleasure to meet you and help you enjoy your stay.
