About this listing
Our large, open, and bright 3 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom flat is walking distance to all the restaurants and shops in the Mission with easy access to BART. A perfect place to relax with your family or friends after a day in the city.
Location, comfort, and privacy in a huge home all to yourself.
Located in the heart of the mission, this three bedroom Edwardian house feels like a retreat away from it all. Step in from the bustling neighborhood, fantastic local restaurants, and hip hangouts to a calm and soothing space with plenty of room to cook and lounge. Find a sunny spot in the garden with a book, stretch out on the couch, or have dinner at the family table.
The house can either be set up as a two or three bedroom space with a large living room, formal diningroom, and sun-filled yoga room. Character and elegance abound: lush garden, gleaming hardwood floors, huge kitchen, front loading washer/dryer, Bosch dishwasher, one and a half baths, high speed internet.
Four blocks from 24th street BART, steps from the best coffee in SF, an easy stroll to Valencia and all that is happening. Perfect for a family get away, a couple, or a group of friends. If you're not from these parts, I'd love to share my favorite eating spots and watering holes nearby... (Flour+Water, Local Mission Eatery, oh-so many good taquerias, and Wise Sons - the new Jewish Deli two block away, to name a few.)
I love my home and hope you will, too. Welcome to SF.
Please treat my home and neighborhood with care and respect.
Reduce noise after 10pm
No smoking anywhere in or near the house (not in the back yard or front stoop.)
No eating in the bedrooms.
Please leave the house as you found it.
Turn off lights and heat when you check out.
Leave the key in the lockbox.
My neighbors are fantastic and so generous with their support of me sharing my home. Please be considerate.
Feel free to use all the dishes and cookware in the kitchen. If you accidentally break, stain, or damage anything in the house, please do let me know! It happens - and no sweat, but I love guests who replace things.
Mostly, I'd like you to relax and enjoy yourself!
Rachel's place is perfect for those willing to discover a real San Francisco neighbourhood, very handy for the BART,Mexican restaurants all around, plenty of colourful local people but felt safe. Went to the yubalance gym around the corner on 24 the most mornings and it was excellent.Slept well despite being in the middle of the town. Kitchen great and lots of bits and pieces in the larder to optimise cooking. Garden interesting and OK for a quick breath of air but not inviting for proper relaxation.
We (5 people/ 2 adults and 3 teens) spent an excellent moment in Rachael accommodation. Was a great surprise to see that the house was larger than we had imagined with the web description, it's fully equipped (nothing miss) and the kitchen is really great (only place where we have been able to make a decent cook in a three weeks trip :-))
In addition to that, Mission is just fabulous, many things to do and watch and you can go downtown in 15 mn, (Bart Station only a few bloks, 5 minutes walk...)
From far our best accommodation experience in US
Thanks again Rachael for welcoming us
This is a lovely, spacious and very clean apartment in a funky, lively neighborhood in the mission district. We slept 5 comfortably (one adult on the blowup mattress) Communication with Rachel was excellent and she emailed great info ahead of time listing how to access apartment as well as info re neighborhood places for coffee, food etc. I would definitely return. Price was a bit high but I realize that is due to high San Francisco real estate prices. Just a note on the neighborhood -- It felt safe in general but I'm not sure if I would want to come home unaccompanied late at night.
A great apartment! The mission is a neat area away from the chaos of downtown. The BART is fast and easy to get to the water and airports. Easy communication . A great stay!
This is wonderful place. The neighborhood is exceptional. Rachael is as good as she appears and is very helpful. The home was clean, and just perfect. We were able to have a great team session and was the perfect setting. It was easy to get to down town via car.
Her suggestions and such were perfect. Was very homey and we got a lot done with our team.
I would go back...that should say it all!!!!
Rachael's apartment is located in the lively Mission district close to bus stops and BART station to get into downtown SF, cafes and restaurants. We enjoyed Flour + Water. The apartment is lovely, light and spacious and tastefully decorated. We didn't find the bed deck suitable for our adult children as it was too close to the ceiling but there is a great inflatable bed which can be used in the front room which my daughter preferred.
We found that there were limited glasses and plates available except for wine glasses to cater for four conveniently but the kitchen itself is well appointed and we enjoyed several meals in. The renting procedure with Rachael was very easy, there is a lot of information provided on the local area in the house manual and everything worked as promised. She was very prompt in responding to my questions when we arrived to help us get settled in
Parking we knew would be a challenge and it was, but we always managed to find a parking space within a block of the apartment without too much difficulty. The neighbourhood has a lot of character, colour and people I spoke to were friendly and helpful, but I did feel that you probably need to exercise some caution and not stand out too much as a tourist.
In summary, we enjoyed our stay and using this lovely apartment as a base to explore this great city.
The appartment is located in the lovely and lively Mission district; everything is close by and there is a great buzz. While we realized that it is written in the text (afterwards) we got irritated by the fact that it wasn't a house we're renting. We were surprised to see that there were two other parties living in the house too (we thought it was advertised as house to our sole avail!).
The stairs to the upper appartment is right above the ceiling in the one bedroom. The appartment itself is spacious and provides space for four adults (seven would be a real stretch) - there is more space if the living room is used for sleeping and the couch is converted to a small/short bed (although there is no door to kitchen, making it quite noisy for the person sleeping there). We were asked to respect the privacy of our neighbours and adhere to the "silence" times which we did - unfortunately the neighbours did not: piano play till late a night, kids running/dancing/stomping across the wooden floor above very early in the morning (not stopping till noon). While in all fairness this only took place at the weekend (during the week it was quiet) we found it hard to find sleep. We're parents too and know what kids are like but this overstreteched our tolerance. We rented the appartment with our three kids and found all facilities good: bathrooms good, kitchen good, living room (with Netflix!). washing machine good. While eating out in Mission is easy, it's difficult to cook in the appartment as there wasn't enough cutlery (e.g. ony two table spoons) nor were there enough glasses (four) to cater for us five conveniently. Although we didn't use it - the garden looks much nicer on the photos than it is in reality: a small dark, overgrown patch not inviting to stay there.
The renting procedure with Rachael was easy and everything worked as promised. To sum it up: a great location for a stay in San Francisco (difficult parking included) with some shortcomings in terms of available beds, noise and the possibility to cook at home.
Hello Elke. I'm so sorry you had such a mixed experience staying at my house! Unfortunately, because you happened to be there on the 4th of July, my neighbors had a rare late night with friends and kids over - I'm so sorry it kept you up. As for cooking at home needs - shoot! - I wish you would have called or emailed me with any questions - we have lots of extra spoons and glasses in the pantry and I could have directed you to them. All the best to you and your family.
