Quite some time was spent in the house making sure it is a perfect vacation!
I go myself several times a year to relax and enjoy the pleasant Malecon of La Paz! It is in a perfect location, in a very welcoming neighbourhood. Only Doña Julia & Don Oscar are living next door, up front it s the view of a preschool yard and just over it, the ocean.
A cleaning lady is available don't be shy to say hi She will make sure everything is ready for your arrival. Bottled water, gaz(cooking), toilet tissue, clean sheets and towels are provided.
You won't have to carry any keys to lock the house thanks to Nexia Home Intelligence numerical door lock. You can even choose the code you d like to open the door with. Easy and convenient.

We had a great time staying at Dario's! The house felt very safe and secure, and there was convenient parking right outside on the street. A cleaning lady came mid-week and did a very thorough job.
Despite being in Canada during our visit, Dario was very communicative and helpful. There was a little confusion with the backdoor being locked when we first arrived, but we called Dario and he quickly helped us solve the problem. He also offered to let us borrow his bicycles and told us about a place nearby where we could inflate the tires.
Presumably due to the hot weather (we visited in late May), a few tiny ants came inside the house searching for water, so be sure to keep food sealed or in the refrigerator. It's also necessary to turn on the gas and water heater for showering and cooking. (Not a big deal, but something we aren't used to doing in the U.S.)
The air-conditioning worked great. We were a bit concerned when we first arrived because two of the bedrooms only had fans, but the temperature was fine for sleeping because it got cooler at night.
Overall a great experience, and I would definitely stay at Dario's again!
We really enjoyed our stay in La Paz at Dario's house. It is located about six blocks off of the quiet end of the malecon, so it is relatively peaceful, but an easy walk to the action. On Saturday night there was a children's party next door, but with ear plugs and the fan running, we had no problem dealing with the noise. We are gringos who have lived in Mexico for five years, and know what to expect on the weekends and holidays.
The kitchen is well equipped, although there is no oven (very typical of Mexican houses). We used the charcoal barbecue in the garden and cooked meals in the kitchen regularly. Breakfast on the patio, listening to the birds was a great way to start the day.
The market is close by and we were able to keep the refrigerator stocked easily. There is taxi service between the store and house if you don't want to carry your groceries. Ample drinking water was provided.
Just so you know, two of the bedrooms share a bath, which is accessed by entering one of the bedrooms. We put our two boys in those rooms and slept in the third.
Hot water was available always, from low flow shower heads. You need to wait a while for the hot water to get from the water heater to the shower.
Most of the windows have screens to keep out the bugs, so no worries there.
We would definitely recommend this location to others, and return on future visits.
This was young Dario's first time with Airbnb renting the house he grew up in. (I'm 65) Initially not prepared to rent out all 3 bedrooms, which was annoying, he quickly assisted us in getting necessary linens to use the full house and he and his wife did their best to be good hosts. Dario is more likely to be in Montreal, but we were a baptism to AirBnB.We had 4 people for 4 days and 3 for a final 3 days. The house is Mexican simple, no oven, appears to have AC for summer (we were there post xmas and new years). There were 3 inside bathrooms and two cold showers--with no water heaters inside--and a cute outside shower with separate heater. Outside spaces are pleasant. If you are there during bug season, you may need to exercise care. There was an evolution to understanding how one is a host to gringos, albiet ones with long not fancy exposure to work and recreation in Mexico. The Espinoza house has a fine neighbor next door in Oscar who has known them for generations.
On the rough side: situated in the alley beyond the wall on the back of the yard to the east are a millitary colegio (quiet) to the south and a family of lowlifes to the north. The lowlifes blasted ranchero, banda and karoake from 9 am Dec 31 thru 10pm January 1 with a 3 hour break January 1 from 7am-10am. They responded badly to our polite query on the evening of Jan 1 as to whether they would be continuing. Apparently, according to Oscar, this has been a regular fiesta response for over a decade and a disgrace to the neighborhood. During that time we did not leave a light on in front of the house and the stereo was stolen from our rental car. We tried to move the night of January 1; Dario texted that the "concert had ended" and we returned to Casa Espinoza.
On other nights the neighborhood was quiet. We strongly urge that you do not rent over any specific Mexican holiday. The military does not enforce noise codes in La Paz.
Dario is on a learning curve and is doing what he can, however he has pointed out that it was good that he was in town and it was. He has adequate linens and hopefully the house will be properly prepared in advance if he's in Montreal (hardworking maid there) because it was winter pleasant--as is La Paz. The overall experience really was not 3 star but hard, and we wouldnt have rented the house had we known of the neighbors over an obvious potentially noisy holiday (rest of La Paz was very quiet). But I believe Dario will try hard--and now you know what we didnt. Airbnb is a 2 way learning street I reckon. Car breakins happen. Use the street light.
