A 4 bedroom home in a peaceful setting close to the beaches, Daytona and Orlando. 2 rooms are available. Please inquire as the calendar may say the listing is booked; the other room may be available. 1 fullsize bed per room.
the house is close to everything and surrounded by nature. kayaking, biking, secluded beaches, kennedy space center, indian river lagoon, kiteboarding, fishing......daytona, orlando within 35 miles.
wifi, cable, one large tv in the living room, shared full kitchen, private rooms, shared living and dining room. screened porch on the back of the house. ceiling fans in guest rooms.
guestrooms share a large bathroom on one side of the house. the living room, dining room and large kitchen are shared by everyone. the guest rooms each have a fullsize platform bed, open closet, beautiful views of trees and sky. the old closets were torn out 4 years ago and replaced with custom carpentry for attractive storage.
the bedroom windows have mini-blinds. it is perfect if you like the view of the trees and sky. the windows are securely locked from the inside.
it is a really nice, but well weathered 1976 style ranch house. a little worn orange wallpaper and avocado linoleum of the 70's in the kitchen. and the same era wallpaper in the hallways - kind of dated but clean. the guest rooms and living room are newly painted and the 4 year old carpets are cleaned every six months. the house is clean and fresh without heavy fragrance.
we are in the city on a 4.5 acre wooded lot close to a jogging trail, grocery, family-owned restaurants, ymca, schools. the house is very peaceful. bicycles available. plenty of parking room under the live oaks; the house and cars are always shaded. the shaded path to the house from the driveway is about 45 feet over pine needles and oak leaves. it is a little uneven but pleasant for most. it is dark at night so make sure the porch light is when you go out and call if you want me to meet you at the driveway.
the house is a split plan with my office and bedroom on the one side. the kitchen, dining room and living room are in the middle. the guestrooms on the other side.
my two dogs are restricted to my side of the house by lattice gates. i recently embarked upon a weekly dog washing to make sure there are no dog smells at all! and i scrub the floors where they hang out on my side of the house weekly. it is a lot of work but i am happy to do it for the business of having happy guests and a fresh chemical-free house! we have had two guests so far with allergies to dogs - they had no problem here, probably due to the dogs being chemical free too!
guest dogs are only allowed in the kitchen and on the porches. not allowed in the guest rooms, living room.
pesticides and room fragrances are not used in the house. real cedar oil is used for occasional ants. the mattresses are sprayed lighlty with cedar oil between guests. the wood furniture is polished with the cedar oil too. this is the real oil from western red cedars in texas ((website hidden)).
helicopter students from europe are frequent renters. we have had students from 12 countries with very good success over the past 4 years.
the rental rate is per room for 1 fullsize bed. a futon can be rolled out on the bedroom carpet if more sleeping area is needed. no problem, just let me know.
check out spacecoastoutdoors on the web for all titusville has to offer. the website ends (website hidden), (website hidden).
I look forward to sharing my home with you!
Be neat, be clean, wash your own dishes, and leave no mess behind. No smoking. Dogs allowed only in the kitchen and outdoors. No pets otherwise. Sometimes there may be a student here so this is not a house available for big parties. Small quiet get togethers are fine. Peace and quiet is the norm.
Great place, great town. House is warm and accomodating. Love the dogs! Kathleen is a terrific person and always available and makes you fell very comfortable. Loved the experience will do again if in the area. Thanks Kathleen!
Kathleen is a very interesting person. It was a nice stay in her house. The location is very quit.
Kathleen was welcoming and provided us with great dining tips, especially the local brewery. She was a good source of local information. The room was fine for our needs as we were only sleeping there. The location was perfect since we were visiting Titusville for the Space Coast Birding Festival (5 days). Bring a flashlight because the entrance to the house is not well lit (Kathleen will provide a keychain flashlight). The driveway is a little hard to find in the dark. The dogs are well mannered, friendly, and obedient.
The reservation was canceled 12 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
This was the 17th Airbnb place I've stayed! So I tend to leave thorough reviews since I've read so many myself at this point. I've got a sense what y'all might need to know.
Titusville is a sleepy, conservative town that has not made any kind of tourist attraction of its location. So there's not a whole lot there. But the bread place downtown makes great bread and coffee!
Kathleen was very generous and helpful. I told her ahead of time I did not drive, so she worked out a price per mile deal for me and it was very generous! She has a flexible schedule because she does a lot of work from home, so she's easy to get ahold of and work with. But she stays on her side of the house pretty exclusively, and where the guest rooms are can feel pretty quiet and far away within the house. You do share a kitchen, so there you will run into Kathleen and other tenants.
Kathleen is also very knowledgeable about the area--she has been active in conservation, city council, and church-related causes for many many years. I learned many interesting things about the Titusville / Wildlife Refuge area from her! She also makes her own sauerkraut and Kombucha, which there is plenty of in the house!
The room is comfy. Great closet space, comfy bed. The canopy provided by the giant oak outside makes it pretty dark, cool, and shady all day long, which is nice in FL!
The bathroom is pretty old and worn, but functional.
The house reminds me of houses I rented in College--it's not new, not sparkling clean, and has a communal flop-house feel. I think for certain kinds of people it would be fine. The only word of caution I'd give is that because your host is very invested in fermenting foods, the house does have a strong odor of fermenting vegetables, sauerkraut I think mostly. But I bought a glade plug-in for my room which helped, and I got used to it after a couple days. But I know some of you folks out there are odor-hounds who freak out about smells. So if that sounds like you, this might not be your place. But if you're looking for a chill, very inexpensive place to flop while checking out the great Space Coast, this will do.
I also highly recommend the kayak tours of A Day Away, who launch fabulous rides from inside Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge. I took the Mondo Combo tour and it was SO WONDERFUL! Not to be missed. Kennedy Space Center, on the other hand, was an overpriced disappointment. Kathleen gave me advice for how to do it on the cheap, but I went ahead and spent the $$ anyway. I should have listened to Kathleen! Listen to her, she knows everything about that area!
My experience with Kathleen was very pleasant. She took me in on short notice and was very hospitable. Has lived in area for some time and can make good recommendations.
