this place is surrounded by large trees and solitude. the house does not have overhead lighting in the rooms but each room has plenty of table and reading lamps for a peaceful atmosphere. you can make yourself at home and enjoy the quiet. currently, the backyard fountain is down since the storm. i know. i miss it and really want to get it put back together for everyone to enjoy. i love this house, the trees and the owls and hope you will too.

The space

a 4-bedroom home in a peaceful setting close to the beaches, Daytona and Orlando. 2 rooms are available. room 2 is listed as "where nature comes to play 2 of 2". 1 fullsize bed per room.

(please be clear of any physical handicaps prior to making a reservation. this way I can clarify accessible limitations here and make sure that I can accommodate you to your satisfaction.)

the house is close to everything and surrounded by nature. kayaking, biking, secluded beaches, kennedy space center, indian river lagoon, kiteboarding, fishing......daytona, orlando within 35 miles. about 4.5 miles from the lagoon and another 12.5 miles across the lagoon to the canaveral national seashore.

there are snacks, purified water, fruit, tea, coffee, juice and chocolates close at hand.

wifi, cable, one large tv in the living room, shared full kitchen, private rooms, shared living and dining room. screened porch on the back of the house. ceiling fans in guest rooms.

guestrooms share a large bathroom on one side of the house. the living room, dining room and large kitchen are shared by everyone. the guest rooms each have a fullsize platform bed, open closet, beautiful views of trees and sky. the old closets were torn out 4 years ago and replaced with custom carpentry for attractive storage.

the bedroom windows have mini-blinds. it is perfect if you like the view of the trees and sky. the windows are securely locked from the inside.

it is a really nice, but well-weathered 1976 style ranch house. well worn but cute, orange wallpaper and avocado linoleum of the 70's in the kitchen. and the same era wallpaper in the hallways - the wallpaper and linoleum is peeling in spots, kind of dated but clean. the guest rooms and living room are newly painted and the 4 year old carpets are cleaned every six months to a year. the house is clean and fresh without heavy fragrance. the windows are old and sometimes a trail of ants will find their way in... the cedar oil works great at repelling and killing them.

the ac stays at 77 F or less to keep the house fresh. 72 at night.

we are in the city on a 4.5 acre wooded lot close to a jogging trail, grocery, family-owned restaurants, ymca, schools. the house is very peaceful. bicycles available. plenty of parking room under the live oaks; the house and cars are always shaded. the shaded path to the house from the driveway is about 45 feet over pine needles and oak leaves. it is a little uneven but pleasant for most. it is dark at night so make sure the porch light is when you go out and call if you want me to meet you at the driveway.

the house is a split plan with my office and bedroom on the one side. the kitchen, dining room and living room are in the middle. the guestrooms on the other side.

my two dogs are restricted to my side of the house by lattice gates. we have had two guests so far with allergies to dogs - they had no problem here, probably due to the dogs being chemical free too! sometimes they will come into the kitchen with me if my guests will allow but are not allowed to roam the house. a touch of white dog hair can be found on the clean laundry, my apologies. i assure you the dog hair is washed, lol. there is a lint brush in the bathroom just in case. the dogs when inside, hang out in the laundry room, my office or bedroom. they are not heavy shedders, but their fur gets on my clothes and on the laundry room floors and sometimes in the kitchen.

guest dogs are only allowed in the kitchen and on the porches. not allowed in the guest rooms, living room.

pesticides and room fragrances are not used in the house. fragrances and dryer sheets are not used in the laundry. I have citrus-scented detergent that is not allergenic for everyone to use. real cedar oil is used for occasional ants. the mattresses are sprayed lightly with cedar oil between guests. the wood furniture is polished with the cedar oil too. this is the real oil from western red cedars in texas ((URL HIDDEN) don't worry, the fragrance is very light and hardly noticeable.

helicopter students from europe are frequent boarders. we have had students from 12 countries with very good success over the past 5 years.

the rate is per room for 1 fullsize bed. a futon can be rolled out on the bedroom carpet if more sleeping area is needed. no problem, just let me know.

check out space coast outdoors on the web for all titusville has to offer. the website ends (URL HIDDEN) (URL HIDDEN)

this is not a true bed and "breakfast"... however, guests can request breakfast and you will always find apples, kombucha tea, fresh greens, purified water, often spinach quiche, spaghetti or chili. i will let you know what is available. and there is plenty of room in the fridge and cabinets (you have your own kitchen cabinets with dishes) if you want to bring in groceries. please do not keep open food in the guest rooms - plenty of room to eat in the kitchen, dining area and back porch. enjoy!

please no outdoor shoes on the carpets. bring a pair of flipflops for the indoors if you like. no smoking.

i look forward to sharing my home with you!

This is a secluded home in the heart of Titusville. It's a great location if you're staying long term. Kathleen is a very nice woman and very clean. I enjoyed my 2 month stay for my summer internship at the cape.

You will love the quiet surroundings combined with easy access to the nearby shopping and restaurants. I suggest that you try the locally-owned coffee shops and other dining options, though all of the usual national chains are here as well. The house is quiet, with a big back yard full of lush, semi-tropical greenery. Spend an hour or two in the morning relaxing in a rocking chair on the back porch, then head out to explore the surrounding area. The Kennedy Space Center and the Atlantic Ocean are practically at your doorstep, and Orlando is less than an hour away. Your host is thoughtful and generous with her knowledge of the area. I took her up on several coffee and dining recommendations and was very happy that I did. You will enjoy your stay here.

Kathleen was a great host. She was very accommodating with our last minute booking and was a great communicator. Bed was comfy. We stayed only one night. Would have given 5/5 stars however we noticed it was a bit malodorous in the home (not sure if it is mold) and a bit dirty. Of note, we did not mention it to Kathleen at the time - since we arrived very late, and left very early the next morning; and issues were not deal breakers.

Response from Kathleen:
Thank you for the review Alex. I appreciate your honesty and feedback regarding your concerns for the odors, floors and carpet. My sincere apologies for anything less than very clean and fresh. Regarding the odors, there are a couple of innocuous possibilities. It could have been a large meal the day before or on the day of your arrival. Also, unfortunately, I lost my white shepherd, Gritte. Not thinking about the finer details, I have allowed my other dog in the house more often. Although he is on my side of the house, smells carry throughout. I am sure it may have been a combination of these possibilities. Time for a bath for Cristo and a little more research on keeping kitchen flavors from lingering. I have no reason to suspect mold. But will have the house professionally inspected. The floors, walls and ceilings are dry and clean. I inspect the attic twice a year - it is very dry and clean! We had no damage in Hurricane Matthew. The house is high and dry above the surrounding forest. Coming from South Florida, I know mold and mildew! I keep the ceiling fans on in the guest rooms to keep the Florida humidity down. I assure you all the linens on your bed were freshly washed, dried and nothing less than perfect. The kitchen, bathroom and tub were scrubbed and clean. Yes, tea was spilled on the carpet in your guest room. As much as I tried I could not get the stain out. Since your departure, the carpet has been removed, and the floors and baseboards are being refinished. Finally, in regards to the floors and other areas. The natural concrete and an area rug in the living room has become the solution to provide a visibly safe environment. Occasional spills and accidents build up in a carpet and I could never know what was under them. The concrete has been well received, so for now that is the finish. It is discolored but clean and scrubbed. Thank you for your comments and concerns. They are very helpful to me. Best wishes to you. Kathleen
