the house is close to everything and surrounded by nature. kayaking, biking, secluded beaches, kennedy space center, indian river lagoon, kiteboarding, fishing......daytona, orlando within 35 miles.
wifi, cable, one large tv in the living room, shared full kitchen, private rooms, shared living and dining room. screened porch on the back of the house. ceiling fans in guest rooms.
guest rooms share a large bathroom on one side of the house. the living room, dining room and large kitchen are shared by everyone. the guest rooms each have a double platform bed, open closet, beautiful views of trees and sky. the old closets were torn out 4 years ago and replaced with custom carpentry for attractive storage.
the bedroom windows are kind of thin and covered with light cotton curtains. you can see the curtains in the pics. it is perfect if you like the view of the trees and sky. if heavier coverings for privacy and keeping the cold out are needed, i do have them! the windows are securely locked from the inside.
it is a really nice, but well weathered 1976 style ranch house. a little worn orange wallpaper and avocado linoleum of the 70's in the kitchen. and the same era wallpaper in the hallways - kind of dated but clean. the guest rooms and living room are newly painted and the 4 year old carpets are cleaned every six months. the house is clean and fresh without heavy fragrance.
we are in the city on a 4.5 acre wooded lot close to a jogging trail, grocery, family-owned restaurants, ymca, schools. the house is very peaceful. bicycles available. plenty of parking room under the live oaks; the house and cars are always shaded. the shaded path to the house from the driveway is about 45 feet over pine needles and oak leaves. it is a little uneven but pleasant for most. it is dark at night so make sure the porch light is when you go out and call if you want me to meet you at the driveway.
the house is a split plan with my office and bedroom on the one side. the kitchen, dining room and living room are in the middle. the guestrooms on the other side.
my two dogs are restricted to my side of the house by lattice gates. i recently embarked upon a weekly dog washing to make sure there are no dog smells at all! and i scrub the floors where they hang out on my side of the house weekly. it is a lot of work but i am happy to do it for the business of having happy guests and a fresh chemical-free house! we have had two guests so far with allergies to dogs - they had no problem here, probably due to the dogs being chemical free too!
guest dogs are only allowed in the kitchen and on the porches. not allowed in the guest rooms, living room.
pesticides and room fragrances are not used in the house. real cedar oil is used for occasional ants. the mattresses are sprayed lighlty with cedar oil between guests. the wood furniture is polished with the cedar oil too. this is the real oil from western red cedars in texas ((website hidden)).
helicopter students from europe are frequent renters. we have had students from 12 countries with very good success over the past 4 years.
the rental rate is per room.

We enjoyed our month with Kathleen to the fullest. It was like a "home away from home" and compared to staying in a condo on the beach ....I would pick Kathleens any day. The frendships we forged will be lasting and our occassional evening get togethers provided interesting and entertaining conversation. A special thanks to Kathleen but also to her other guests Nickolas and Wolf. All and all a delightful month.
we had two great days at Kathleen's place. booking was quick and easy. nice kitchen, everything well organized and two lovely dogs around. If you're looking for a quiet place that feels like family - Kathleen is your best host.
Kathleen was a delightful host! She was thoughtful about all the little details of our stay, recommended local activities and restaurants to try, and was an excellent conversationalist. The room we rented for the night was neat and clean. Couldn't have asked for more!
Staying with Kathleen is a special experience. She is kind, helpful, and informative. She's enthusiastic about the area where she lives, and will offer you the best Kombucha you will ever have.
A real home from home, very relaxed and laid back; a thoroughly enjoyable to stay for what was the highlight of my trip to visit the Kennedy Space Center. Kathleen is lovely and her dogs are great as well. I slept well, unusual for me away from home, so all in all if you're looking for peace, quiet, rest & relaxation - look no further. Only my 2nd Airbnb but not my last.
Kathleen was very accomodating and I enjoyed my stay a lot. She was very flexible with helping arrange my stay on short notice. Would definitely book again!
Accommodations were perfect! Kelley and her neighbor Joe were both great company.
My experience at Kathleen's was very pleasant. The room was huge and nicely decorated. On the huge desk I found a basket with linens, some fruit and wonderful home made soap.
I loved the bed! I think that was the most comfortable bed that I have ever slept in. My flight got in late and by the time I arrived it was well past midnight but Kathleen had graciously arranged to have one of her other tenants wait for me to guide me. Good thing too, without her I would not have been able to find the house! The bathroom which was a share, was also very clean, the shower ran well. Everyone in the house was very welcoming and super quiet. I had full access to the kitchen and all appliances and utensils which was great. It was hard to believe there were other three people in the house at the same time I was! I recommend this place to anyone who needs to stay in the area. The reason I chose it was because of its proximity to the Birdhouse Barn (for a wedding) but it was also very convenient to the beach (30 minutes to Playa linda and manatees!) Katherine's house is a great place to stay for such a good price. Check it out if you can!
Best place for rest, nature and friendly homely stay!
Kathleen is a fantastic host (having the 2 kindest dogs of the world does help) and the other people staying in the house contribute to a friendly atmosphere. Titusville is quiet, beautiful ,full of birds, ice-cream place. There is the sea not far AND a river. Did I mention kayaking, spotting manatees and dolphins?
As nothing is perfect in this world, if you go there and mosquitoes like you, be prepared to dab yourself with repellent first and something to ease the itching second.
Kathleen's house is comfy and clean, the kitchen organised by colors so that people know where to find what they need, the room is big, the bed welcoming. I stayed there a week for R&R and absolutely recommend this place. I'm looking forward to visit Kathleen's place again.
I wasn't quite worried about coming here, since I knew the area fairly well. The directions given were easy to follow from I-95 and the home was quaint and the inside was lovely and cozy. While others reported a smell, I found this not to be the case and that the dogs that lived in the house were polite, friendly, and very quiet at night. Kathleen kept the place beautiful, well organized, and she was utterly considerate of all her guests. As advertised it's a very quiet place for the consideration of all guests and it was perfect for my needs. The bed was comfortable and the room perfect sized for a single or two guests. In spring, all you needed was two open windows and a fan and it provided enough cool air to sleep comfortably at night or chill during the day. Kathleen also offered any of her meals when you dropped by and provided a lovely Easter lunch. I would recommend this for a couple or single traveler who wants to enjoy the best of old Florida and isn't far away from the rest of 'new' Florida. I do plan on dropping by here again the next time I come down to Florida to see family.
