Comfy guest tent- great location!

Tent - Private room · Acton St, Berkeley, CA 94702, United States

The Space

Greetings adventurous travelers!

Welcome to our guest tent, the perfect stopping place for the outdoorsy traveler. The Summer tent, which is now up, is officially a four person one- 7.5’ x 6.5’ x 5’ high- and it makes a very comfortable amount of space for one person. It’s situated in the back of our lovely and quiet garden, tucked into a private corner.

Inside the tent, you’ll find a rug on the floor, and a twin size airbed made up with flannel sheets, pillow, 3 blankets, and sleeping bag comforter. There is wireless internet and a battery operated lantern sits on a crate by the bed.

Weather in the Bay Area can vary a good bit in all seasons and nights are always cool to chilly. If you "sleep cold", I'd recommend bringing along long johns for sleeping just in case you get a chilly night.

BTW- I offer a $5. rebate if you make up your own bed when you arrive, just let me know ahead of time.

Note: Although the tent has a 4 day minimum stay, I do take shorter bookings when I have a gap in the calendar, so please inquire.

Guest Access

You will have full use of the house and garden, shared with 2-3 interesting, friendly, open-minded, and independent people of varying ages. There is a washer and dryer available for a small fee, and a bicycle is available to rent.

Interaction with Guests

I enjoy hosting and am always happy to answer questions and help you feel at home. In the summer we host an occasional barbecue for current and past guests, and in the winter we may gather and play cards- come and join us!

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood, composed of vintage houses from varying eras, is safe and quiet. The location is great- just a block to BART and buses, and easy walking distance to the Monterey Market shopping area, Berkeley Natural Grocery, University Avenue, and several cafes.

Getting around

The North Berkeley BART station is literally one block from our house. It's about a 25 minute walk (or 5 minute BART ride) to downtown Berkeley and the university, and BARTing to San Francisco takes about 30 minutes. We're in the Berkeley "flatlands", so walking around is easy, and the Ohlone Greenway, an extended bike/pedestrian path, crosses our block.

  • My first night in the tent, I endured a thunderstorm which was fantastic, stayed dry and toasty. I felt safe and very private the whole time. Cece offers up her cozy home also, as well as a beautiful garden to hang out and work from. Great location in North berkeley makes this a great deal for visiting Berkeley. There are no surprises, it's a tent with a comfy air bed but by no means a rugged camping experience, unless you choose to make it one.

  • I had the misfortune of arriving when it was raining all day but surprisingly, the tent kept dry on the inside! It was cold but Cece provided enough blankets to keep me comfy. It as definitely a unique experience and a good deal. The BART station is a block away and you'd have no trouble finding your way around to SF. You have a good amount of privacy, Cece was nice to have a chat with although I didn't get a lot of chances to do so since I was always out and about., and she has the loveliest backyard. I definitely recommend this place for a unique Airbnb experience.

  • I stayed in the spacious winter tent during the nights and in Cece's cozy house during the day. Although I visited in December, I never felt cold in the tent. It is equipped with a lot of blankets and a comfy airmattress. Dressed appropriately in addition noone should ever feel cold. It was really pleasant being around Cece. I enjoyed the conversations!

  • The tent in Cece's backyard is roomy (for one person), and comfortable. The air mattress is thick, lots of blankets, even 2 electric lanterns. With access to the entire house, except the bedrooms, there wasn't a thing I had to do without.
I can heartily recommend the backyard tent in Berkeley. May well be the best deal in town!

  • I found my quiet spot in Berkeley! Cece has a very relaxing vibe in and around her home. The tent was in a nice private corner of the fenced in yard, so I felt like I had plenty of space. If the tent was open for another week, I would have booked it without question. I felt very welcomed throughout my whole stay.

  • What a fantastic place to spend a couple of weeks! Easily connected to the heart of Berkeley, yet you get to sleep out in the fresh air. Cece was an amazing host - kind, relaxed and generous. I used this tent as a base camp for apartment hunting, and Cece was quick to offer her sage advice on various neighborhoods. A very highly recommended tent.

  • I had a great time in SF staying at Ceces place. Cece was very welcoming. The place was clean and need. Wearing Long Johns the tent was nice and warm! Downtown SF is easily acceced with the BART only minutes from the house. I would recommend it to anyone traveling budget and is up for a different experience. I would go back!

    October 2013
  • The tent was really comfortable and even though I was there in October I was still able to stay plenty warm! It's really convenient to get to the BART station and walk to get food and groceries. Cece was really helpful and so kind, I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone!
