In a little corner of France is a little village, in the corner of this village is a little street, and in the corner of this street is a little door. Behind this door is a delightful little home, with all the comforts that a family needs. We stayed at the Bijou de Soleil for 3 nights, and I can heartily recommend it to anyone who wants to discover the Languedoc region of France and get away from the more touristic areas. The house was very clean, very well furnished, and although quite small, was comfortable for a family of 4. There was a welcome bottle of wine that was very much appreciated, and we can recommend the takeaway pizza place in the center of the village.
Fabulous little house with lovely furnishings and lots of thoughtful inclusions like the wine, bread and milk as we arrived in the evening and nothing in Caux was open late.
Our stay in Caux was a great base to explore the loacl region. It delivered what we wanted; small town with local feel, semi rural so close to wineries and lots of creature comforts in accommodation.
We picked up our keys from Rob in Pezenas (10 min from Caux) and shared a glass of (email hidden). He gave us some help with local bookings and ensured our accommodation was ready.
A real find is the Barrages Des Olivettes - the local lake 10 min from Caux if you don't feel like driving down to the beach. It was a little tricky to find as it's tucked away at the end of a culdsac. WiFi and British cable TV was very good. Only negative was it got a bit hot upstairs (30c+ outside) and the floorboards squeaked badly in the main bedroom. The fans provided some nice relief. Great kitchen facilities. Would stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay in Caux. Michele's apartment was clean and cozy, and a great home base for exploring the area. There were basic supplies on hand like coffee, tea, olive oil, etc., which made it easy to stock up on everything else we needed at the store.
We met Michele's property manager, Rob, in nearby Pezenas. He led us to the apartment the first time which was helpful because it is tucked away in a little corner of Caux. After that we found our way around easily and enjoyed the countryside.
Thanks for a pleasant stay!
We had a wonderful time in Caux. The house was perfect for the three of us. The village is small - it was great to explore and something totally different from what we have ever seen. Kirsi met us and was very helpful and it was nice not to have to use our terrible French for a change! The house is set up beautifully with nice touches and everything one might need. We spent time in the market at Pezenas and visited other local villages in the area which were close by. Recommended!
We stayed in Caux at Michele' place in July and I have to say we had a wonderful time there. We had been looking for a true experience of staying at an old historic beautiful village in Southern France that is not overcrowded with tourists - and found it in Caux. Michele and Kirsi have been very helpful and polite to us before and during our stay - my wife and our 2 kids had a really good time at Michele's house, which is beautifully decorated, very clean and well equipment by the way. When visiting this area in France again we'll definitively stay at Michele's place and charming Caux again.
I am a fun, outgoing, person that loves people and loves to travel. I enjoy the arts and currently learning to improve my French. I have worked in the insurance industry for almost 30 years and looking forward to enjoying our home in France as part of our retirement plan.
