About this listing
Beautiful apartment in a super location with many great features of a period Berlin property including ample space!!
The room is approximately 27m sq nd faces east in to the courtyard, and large windows. The sofa bed is great to sleep on and as well. This apartment's period features, modern decor and unbeatable location giv a real feel for Berlin - high ceilings, wooden flooring from the 1900s, large west and east facing windows and clean, uncluttered furnishings are just some of the attributes that make this apartment so pleasant to stay in. The public overground line at Ostkreuz S-Bahn station that takes you to Alexanderplatz in 10 minutes is 4 minutes walk away. A 'späti' or late opening store is 2 minutes walk and the supermarket also 2 minutes walk. Friedrichshain itself is full of wonderful restaurants, unique boutiques, large green spaces near water and of course nightlife to satisfy any taste. We provide a folder with all our own knowledge about the area to help you discover some local secrets...As host I really enjoy helping guests out with their travel arrangements, plans in Berlin and any tips for 'something different' to do. For example I can come to the nearest S-Bahn station to meet you if you are new to Berlin and don't feel in the mood to get lost! In general I will do whatever I can to be of help. (Check out my reviews for examples :-) )
Other Things to Note
WE HAVE CATS IF YOU HAVE AN ALLERGY DO NOT BOOK!!!
Leave the apartment as you find it :-)
This room is in a good location if you want to be on the east side of Berlin, in Friedrichshain, where you can easily access the rest of Berlin with the S- or U-Bahn from Ostkreuz station. I think you will enjoy staying here if you want access to some of the east side's clubbing venues and you are not sensitive to the organised chaotic magic of Berlin. (If you are - don't go to Berlin ;)
Julia and her boyfriend seemed like nice people, and the cats are beautiful creatures :) They left the key for me at a nearby convenience store since our schedules did not match on the day I arrived, which was very easy and convenient.
The room I stayed in looks quite different from the photo, and unfortunately the floor had not been cleaned before I arrived. I borrowed a vacuum cleaner and took care of this myself without complaint. The bathroom was fine, but the tub would benefit from a good rinse so it drains properly. I figured out that the Wi-Fi details differed from what was given in the booking confirmation, which would have been good to know in advance since I worked while traveling.
Two days before my planned check-out I woke up from a German speaking lady opening the door to my room, which left me a bit confused. I left earlier than planned to stay with a friend after this.
All in all, I would say the best qualities of the room is the location. I would however keep in mind that the room looks different from what is conveyed in the photos, and that it might be on the expensive side considering what you get. If you are not picky and simply need a place for a few nights while exploring the east side this could be a good place for you.
Julia was an amazing host, she always made sure we had all we needed and made us feel at home always. The apartment is great, there are 2 adorable and loving cats too! The location was amazing, right next to the s-bahn and walking distance from cute coffee shops and boutiques. I highly recommend Julia's apartment and company!
Would do again :-)
Julia war sehr freundlich und entgegenkommend. Die Wohnung ist super gelegen und das Zimmer sauber. Zum weiterempfehlen.
A gorgeous apartment just a short walk from Friedrichshain's shops. Julia is fun, friendly and helpful. Super cute cat, too. One serious complaint: what is the cleaning fee for? The bathtub was very dirty when I arrived, yet I'm sure the previous guest paid a cleaning fee too. What will the fee I paid be used for? It's important that guests not feel like they've paid for services they didn't receive.

About the Host, Julia
Hi there! I'm originally from the beautiful garden of England (to be precise, a county called Kent) but have long since wandered far and wide from the British nest after finishing my veterinary BVSc in 2007....
....after living and working in Nice, Shanghai, Hawaii and other such fascinating destinations (working with start ups and blossoming companies), I stumbled accidentally across Germany's glorious capital city. I knew then that nowhere on earth could beat this city's electric vibe...and so here I have stayed!
I am sure you will love Berlin and the district of Friedrichshain where my apartment is. Viel spaß!!!
