Goat Hollow is a nice gastropub on our street. Great food, drinks and scheduled live, acoustic music.
Sarah welcomed us when we arrived. We were delighted to find accommodations near our family and some of their favorite restaurants. Meeting the children of the house was an unexpected delight for these smitten new grandparents. We will stay here again.
Charlie and Sarah couldn't have been nicer. From the moment that I arrived they wanted to make sure that I had everything that I needed. Charlie helped with my bags and got me all set up for work as well. The room is bright and comfortable with windows letting in lots of sunlight. You can get coffee and breakfast at the corner deli. Allen Lane train stop is within walking distance with a great coffee shop right there. I walked all over the neighborhood without any problems and talked with lots of people. I had dinner at Goat Hollow and Bacio. Both great choices. Train ride into Center City is easy if you want to explore downtown. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again or recommend it to others.
Great Hosts. Great Place. Safe Neighborhood. Loved having code instead of keys for entrance.
No frills indeed. Old home, which had the potential to be charming, but fell short. Thin windows, covered with blankets as curtains- which would have been nice to use considering that there was no heat. There is no lock on the door, and it's a shared home, so leave valuables somewhere else. NOT recommended for people with dust or animal allergies; dusty and smelled like wet dog, which the owners neglected to mention were in the building. "Nightlife" is 3 restaurants in the area, unlike their description.
Pros: it's quite. Metro isn't close, but definitely walkable. Nice neighborhood.
Thank you for your feedback. For the best expectations, please read our listing. Most of your concerns are addressed in our listing. RESTAURANTS- There are 3 amazing destinations on our block. More places are one block over, on Germantown Ave and in Chestnut Hill. We are trying to help guests have a good time by sharing our favorite places near us. TRAIN- We suggest the Allen station in the listing. Guests used the Carpenter station. DOGS- We indeed mention we have dogs in the listing. However, dogs have never been on the second floor. They are kept in our private residence far from away from guests. HEAT- We still have the air conditioners running. We have had 80 degree weather. Extra blankets are available. WINDOWS- We do have curtains. The extra window coverings are hand cut and sewn wool pieces we use to block light, sound and coldness. They can be adjusted. They were inspired by a previous guest. They are not actual blankets for beds. They are handmade window treatments. LOCK- There are internal locks on the doors. We have been hosting for 5 years without any safety issues. :)
Sarah and Charles where awesome hosts and definitely someone who I would stay with again. My friend & I had a last minute booking but despite the short notice, Sarah and Charles were very gracious and accommodating. They got our room ready for our early arrival and where helpful about tips about the neighborhood as well as getting into downtown. The room was great and the the private entrance meant we didn't have to worry about disturbing our hosts getting in late. Also they were right about the food in the area, we went to the Indian restaurant (sorry I forget the name) around the corner and it was amazing! Highly recommended!
Get what you pay for; no frills in a nice neighborhood. Very quiet. If you just want a place to sleep, it does the job.
It's not all that convenient - trains take 25 mins into the city and run only once or twice an hour. Works fine if you get a timetable.
The description is slightly misleading in one sense: 'hip restaurants'
There are only three restaurants walking distance, and almost nothing else.
Thank you for your review. Restaurants within a block: Goat Hollow, Tiffin, Bacio, Panda Garden and Lincoln Pizza. The train station has an organic coffee shop called High Point Cafe. Just a bit further is the famous Germantown Avenue which is filled with restaurants like McMenamin's and Earth, Bread and Brewery. The next neighborhood over is Chestnut Hill which is also thriving with great bites like Paris, Campbell's, Iron Hill, McNally's, Cake and many more. We're always happy to find you a great place to eat.
Everything was nice and clean. We had a lot of privacy and the neighbourhood is one of the best i have ever seen! The bed is a little bit too small for 2 people unless you want to cuddle :P
